Clarification. RCS is coming to the Messages app not iMessage. Confusing I know but the Messages app is what you use to send SMS, MMS, iMessages and soon RCS messages.

You are mistaken. iPhone users do not exclusively use iMessage. We have family that has Android. So, we share media via WhatsApp or Instagram messages. Apple knows this. If they didn’t, they would not support this change.

Some of us who are in the USA use iMessage as well as 3rd party apps. Also some of us use both Operating Systems too. Yes this is definitely a dream come true but let's see how this plays in the upcoming months.

Yeah yeha yeah, it doesn’t matter. Apple isn’t adding RCS to their phones, they’re adding support for iMessage-RCS joint messaging. Your android phone with RCS STILL would’ve used SMS if you were chatting with an Apple user back then.
