About ride designs, if you decide to build a mini golf, i would suggest to put a difficult hole like D or E at the start. If you start with hole A, and put D or E as second hole, guests will have to wait extremely long for that one hole, while they keep getting in if hole A is cleared. So its possible to get 20 guests waiting for hole D while the rest of the track is empty. Resulting in angry guests. However, if you build a hole D or E as first hole, the next guest can only enter when it is cleared. When putting hole A or B as second hole, you wont get a lot of guests waiting at that hole. guests in the waiting line can turn around an go elswhere, guests trapped on the minigolf cant turn around, and keep getting mad and mad. Is there anything you can find about this? I always found this problem occur in my minigolf rides, and had to double close the ride to empty it, and reopen the ride, or swap the holes setting the difficult ones first.

I believe that the high cost of the minigolf course, mixed with the weird scaling, means that the high base cost of $265.60 was actually supposed to be $26.56. That way, the big minigolf course would actually cost $49, which is very reasonable scaling.

If it were feasible to just build "minigolf" sans the golf as a paid walking ride, it could be nice for making haunted castles or something where excitement generated is on theming. All themepark sims, even planet coaster, lack customizable experiences like that, opting only for area theming as opposed to walking through a spooky house (that you made, not a plunk down rabbit hole ride)

This video didn't mention a big problem I've always had with mini-golfs: The D and E (turning) holes are so slow for most guests to complete, that they will create a serious bottleneck while multiple guests back up while waiting for the guest in front of them to complete the hole. This will result in "I want to get off [ride name]" complaints, removes all excitement the ride might give, and can even lower park rating if the problem is bad enough. My recommendation is to use the turning pieces very sparingly, if at all. And if you do use them, then it's better to use them near to the beginning of the course (first or second hole).

Ohh funny that you make a video about this now. I was looking for a ride to change my car ride to (as I wanted cars driving on a highway outside the park) but it kept breaking down. So I thought, hmm is there a ride that doesnt break down. So I ended up with the Minigolf, car ride in it and force it in testing mode (put it in testing mode before changing the ride type to minigolf) and it works like a charm without breaking. The only annoying part now is that I do have to hide every single track piece I layed out on top of the road. But I was lazy and changed the colour to grey and then it is almost not visible, except for two pixels.

oh, for those curious, mini-golf’s upkeep is so high in part because of the weird length issue. total length is part of the upkeep formula and mini golf’s multiplier is triple that of most coasters (though obviously zero for things like track count etc.). combine that with the unexpectedly high length and upkeep gets a little bit funky. no sure if that’s the hole story (haha), but still interesting regardless.

Wouldn't the most optimal design be rather big, since it has a large flat operating cost, but adding new parts doesn't make it much more expensive to run. Since I assume excitement will scale with length, a longer track could charge more. Depending on how it determines the number of guests, it might even be able to break even. As long as it doesn't take 5 minutes for a guest to complete, it might also be good for keeping guests of your paths.
@cromanticheer3 жыл бұрын
Possibly. Something I've noticed in scenarios is that sometimes guests on longer minigolf courses will start complaining and want to get off. But maybe if you use every scenery and excitement trick in the book you can sorta make a long course that looks good and is relatively optimized.
