In this Tips and Tricks tutorial, I focus on a couple of shortcuts to help get things done quickly on the radio. Most of what you'll see in this video isn't necessarily common knowledge. I didn't pick these things up from reading a manual or a web page, I learned them through years of use with OpenTx.

I like your hints and tips and so I thought I would share this one with you. Although not unique or original I found this throttle cut method a year or so ago and have used it on my electric models ever since. Its not my original idea but I cant remember where I got it from. This method has the advantage of not allowing the throttle to arm until its at a minimum. The Special Functions are not absolutely needed but are icing on the cake. I thought your viewers might find this method useful and you will reach more people than I will.

👍😊 Nice ! P.S. I think you already mentioned it somewhere - but here is one quick (reminder) for you - (it is easy to forget - and never enough repetition - like REMOVE PROP !) - much like right click mouse on Win .. ( I like it more than any Tubo Ninja Ultra Speedy Super Cooling etc. processor ..) 😉 - at 11:05 - when you selecting SOURCE for "Value" Widget - LONG press on roller - gives you a list with categories - SW, LS, Telem .. etc. It will speed up your widget settings a lot .. (and any time you seek for source ..) - Watched on some other channel - also nice tip for ROLLER - ROLLING on UP(per) side (where only pivot/axle is) - and ENTER on DOWN side (where micro SW is) - much less missed clicks .. - Also love your variation for setting Failsafe on TX16S and my X9 Lite with rollers - on my X10 I am already used to scroll down to "Channels=>Failsafe" and also LONG press on jog dial .. - Actually - for well known models or for example - when using FrSky SxR stab Rx's: - along with switch/channel for "AUTO" mode, just adding small amount for RUD .. - I like to type exact values for "Custom - Set" for Failsafe - in Companion (even more options for individual CH - Value, Hold, No Pulse).. WARNING: (it can be dangerous for novice if not well explained) - all values are initially at "0" - and that could be dangerous for THR(ottle) - which should be "-100" - especially for ESC's.. (.. ask me how I know .. 😂) I asked devs once why value for THR is not "-100" as default - and they pointed out (very correctly) - that most novices wouldn't even find this setting - and THR is not always on CH3 .. (exactly) 🙃 Some warning message in that particular Companion screen would be welcome though .. although (again) - most of those that would benefit wouldn't even go to trouble to RTFM .. 🙃🙃 And after all this water under the bridge - not all Rx's (or better to say - protocols in MPM) have failsafe option - sad - such a nice feature - although some might have old way of setting in Rx it self .. Please keep up with excellent work - I really appreciate time and energy you put in those videos ! (have some idea about it ..) 😜 And I recently directed one person new to OTX to your playlists - videos just works better for some than written material .. 👊

@@RCVideoReviews You are absolutely right and please accept my apologies for "mentoring". Now I see it - but then was late night and perhaps I did it more for myself - when I wrote something it stays more "locked in" .. That is the thing for me with videos - I always know that I heard something good - but it is hard to trace exactly where .. I will try to refrain from that "crazy old uncle" mentality in the future.

Hey. With OpenTX 2.3.10 there is now the option to use any sbus receiver as trainer I put on the external UARTs on the bottom. That's a cool feature, especially because it's not possible to connect such a receiver to the pins in the module bay on color LCD radios.
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 3 жыл бұрын
Neat, I'll have to try that out.
@frederikdehn8576
@frederikdehn8576 3 жыл бұрын
@@RCVideoReviews You’ll need to get an univerted sbus signal from the respective pin on the receiver board. Connect that to any UART RX. Enable Sbus trainer for thar UART in the HARDWARE tab and set trainer to Master/Serial. There is enough space inside the case to hide an additional receiver. Greetings

This one was really useful! Thank you. More OpenTX please. For example, say you want to have one of the Model’s custom screen to contain a full screen widget (text box) which display the particular model’s switch functions, acting as a quick and brief field operation manual reminder, without digging through the programming pages to recall how you set that model last summer.... entering multi line pages of text through the scroll wheel interface interface can take hours. Could you show how to use the PC or opentx companion to do it quickly ?

Great video, been wanting to get around to figuring out how to add batt voltage. However, when I look at my model files to arrange folders they are named by model number although on my radio they have their names.
@RCVideoReviews

Yeah, they use model numbers for naming now. When you're on the model select screen and highlight a model, you can see the model#.bin filename on the bottom left.

I have a later version of firmware and am using a Lemon Rx receiver. "Failsafe Mode" does not appear in my menu. Any suggestions why? Thanks for your videos!
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 2 жыл бұрын
Rx options on the MPM are dynamic which mens they appear if the Rx protocol supports them. If you have no failsafe option it means you set failsafe via the Rx not the Tx.

The Wizard? Not without starting another setup. But you can change anything in your configuration from the tabs on the model setup. Don't rely on that wizard, the sooner you get away from that thing the better.

Wow what being under quarantine can do. Nice tips ! i get to play with my TX16s a lot too !! But i have a problem lately.But first of all my setup: tx16s, xfire micro tx, nano rx, crazybee FC, pandarc vtx 5804 air, runcam nano 2, . When i replaced the stock vtx of the Sailfly with the pandarc vtx. my tx was sensing low (rx) batt and giving me a warning. Turns out that i am not getting rx batt telemetry. No RxBt, Curr, Capa. But my rssi telemetry link is ok according to the sensor list in the tx16s. And the quad flies normal. It's just the rx batt sensor is indicating "0" and also on my OSD . Why is that? i am a bit puzzled where to check or to look into. Thanks in advance !!

@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 3 жыл бұрын
If you have telemetry (rssi) and no rxbat, that is unusual. If you're telling me you have no rxbat on any receiver, that is really unusual. I would probably need to see the equipment to be of any additional help. The main thing is that you've proven telemetry. Any supported sensors should report to the radio once telemetry is active.

Is the student radio an OpenTx radio? If so, remap the Throttle Input on the student radio to the slider. The trainer setup doesn't have to know what the physical input is.
