Great Job R. Dean Odell, I was waiting for this kind of video since you explained how does work a CMM machine, I really appreciate your time and the ORIGINAL level of explanation in each video you posted. Please, Continue developing Calypso Programs, you just shorted my learning Process. it is hard to find videos that you make. Thank you.

Hey there! I really enjoyed watching your video, and I love the content you make. I did not know of the F11 macro function on the controller. If you'd like unsolicited info, please keep reading lol One thing I found, if you're looking to make a program quickly, you can open the alignment window 1st then pickup your features 2nd. The software will automatically assign the features based on the order of feature creation and the feature's orientation in relation to the CMM's coordinates (the same can be done with CAD models, but must use "CAD Model Transformation" first). For example, you open the empty alignment box, first pick up the top plane with manual points to create the feature (can edit the name here), click okay, the software will assign that feature to the spatial rotation and z origin block. The second feature you would pickup would be the 2D-line that you'd like to "clock" the part with by restricting planar rotation, and it will also automatically assign either as x or y origin based on the feature's alignment to the CMM. There are also safeguards in place, so if you accidentally probe a single point after probing the top plane, in my example, then it will only be assigned an axis origin and not set as planar rotation. I hope my little bit of information can be useful to someone! Also, you are able to eliminate that polyline strategy for planes problem within the settings. Resources => Save/Load Defaults => Strategies.

R. Dean Odell. Why use 3Dline to measure angle between circles instead of 2Dline?

What is role function keys please explain like f11
@RDeanOdell3 жыл бұрын
The F11 is a special Macro that automatically probes a 4 point circle feature. It’s only needed when you are not using a CAD model. I show how to use it in a video on my Zeiss CMM playlist.

Thank you so much for the content, just wondering why not just using 2D line instead of 3D line?

Hi, can you please tell me how to create macro for circle measuring in Calypso? We measure machined parts and for doing manual alignment for already made programs, we have sometimes circles and I think macro would make it faster doing all that manual alignments. :) Tnx in advance!
@RDeanOdell Жыл бұрын
Hi, hit F11 on the keyboard and it will initiate a 4-point macro cycle. Should save a little bit of time with manual alignment.

How can I find a angle on a chamfer on a shaft. Is it Similar way or is there a different way
@mfisu82 жыл бұрын
fyi your print does not lock down the location of where your satellite holes are on the bolt circle and unless the holes are far enough off that it crashes the machine, you won’t see any problem from the report either. If you rotate the satellite holes about the center of the bolt circle then everything your tolerancing will remain the same. The angles between the holes and the distance from the center to each hole and the bolt circle diameter would all remain the same. This is why positional tolerancing would be better. Thanks for vid thou

Hi, valid points. That drawing isn’t great. I have a GD&T version, but the GD&T version is by nature easier to program so I use this one to raise questions in my class Thanks for the input!

You mentioned the importance of the circles being measured at the same depth, when dimensioning the angle between 3D lines. Why don't you construct 2D lines instead?
