Excellent video. My recent Calypso basic training covered a lot, but this is new to me. Thanks!

I just finished basic as well. I've been operating and programming cnc machines for about 5 years now but this calypso software is very challenging to me.

Can we use the 3d line between the two offset bore holes for planar rotation?
@victoryprogramming38332 жыл бұрын
Yes, as long as you know the basic angle you can do it that way.

Thanks for the video! I have a question. We have some castings that I need to check features on both sides. My datum is a thru bore and my clocking hole is also thru. Is it possible to have a second alignment in one program, so that all my characteristics results are in one document? If it is possible, would please do a video of that? I did this quite often on our old cmm, but I don’t know how to do it in Calypso. Please help!!!
@victoryprogramming38332 жыл бұрын
Hi Jonathan, Yes it is possible to create a secondary alignment similar to how the base alignment is set up. Can you please send me an email at steven@victoryprogramming.com to clarify what type of secondary alignment you are looking for? Based on your description, your part can be aligned in the Base Alignment. Thanks, Steven

I know its a longshot on getting a reply, but whats the point of doing this versus a normal alignment without worrying about the offset hole?
@victoryprogramming38332 жыл бұрын
Good question! Sometimes a datum feature like this is offset with basic dimensions, and the rest of the part features are dimensioned to the theoretical X or Y axis. In this case if we rotated to the hole with a normal alignment, the basic dimensions to the other holes would not match the drawing.

Sir in rotation by angle method, in which direction need to rotate wether clock Wise or anticlockwise and how to decide that one, pls explain
@victoryprogramming38334 жыл бұрын
Hi Veera, For rotation by angle, the alignment will rotate counterclockwise for a positive angle, and clockwise for a negative angle. You can visualize the effect by viewing the CAD with the rotation axis pointing toward you. Steven

Can you relearn a feature in Calypso like you can pcdmis?
@victoryprogramming38333 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, It is possible to scan "unknown" geometry with curve features. For regular features, I am not aware of a function in Calypso to "relearn" the actual geometry. You could simply copy the actual values into the nominal column. Have a great day, Steven

In Rotate by Angle option for 45 degree I,e X=95 & Y=95, both X and Y actual where same X=95.016 & Y=95.016, how do I know the actual X and Y values!
@victoryprogramming38334 жыл бұрын
Hi Gagan, You can report the actual X and Y values of the feature by checking the "X" and "Y" check boxes in the feature window. When the alignment is rotated by 45 to a feature, that feature will always report X and Y values the same. You can also create a secondary alignment if you need to report the X and Y values relative to other datums. Steven

why not use a plane on the surface you are aligning to and use that for plannar
@victoryprogramming38334 жыл бұрын
That's a great point! The front surface could be used for the planar rotation as well. For the base alignment, that would be perfectly fine. However, the two large holes on this part are the functional datums, so we need to align to those to measure the true position of the other small holes.
@massgass91314 жыл бұрын
@@victoryprogramming3833 what if you created a -drf- for those positions?
@victoryprogramming38334 жыл бұрын
Yes you could create a datum reference frame or secondary alignment for the position of the small holes. The process of creating the offset alignment with the Special button would be the same way you do it in the base alignment window. The base alignment does not necessarily have to use datum features. It could be any combination of features that restrain the part in space. - Steven
