RDR2 How to get everything at the Trapper for FREE no pelts, or Legendary Animals required (*STORY*)

I discovered this glitch some time ago but just never bothered to make a video on it I've searched KZbin and it looks like no one else has discovered this glitch this glitch was done on PS4 with the latest version of RDR2 1.26

At one point, Arthur says "You don't hunt cougars. Cougars hunt you." Once you know where the cougars (and panthers) are hunting you from, you can come at them from the back side. Yeah, they actually hide near roads just waiting for you to ride past. Make sure you use your cover scent lotion and use binoculars to spot them.

@@David_Medina50 That happened to me one time too. There was a 3* grizzly bear where the cougar should be at the Big Valley location so I figured the cougar was chased out of the area. I was skinning the grizzly when the cougar killed me. One other time I was killed by a grizzly while standing there selling stuff to the trapper.

I just started this game about a month ago. The amount of things you can do is crazy! I know I'm not saying anything that hasn't been said a million times, but what a beautiful game! The fact that it's almost all natural environments makes it even more impressive. They say natural elements are much more difficult to recreate.

Cougar pelt is easy, just set up camp near the trapper in big valley and ride up and down the road there's a cougar attack that loads there. Cougar attack --> ride down road ---> set up camp,sleep --> ride back to cougar attack repeat.

@@blopersan2114 Better yet, go to that trapper in Big Valley from the north east direction so that you are staying away from the cougar, then go due west to cross the creek. Put on your cover scent lotion and creep south on the west side of the creek. At that point where the road starts to get close to the creek, the cougar will be waiting for you there. Spot it with your binoculars then call it to you to use your bow with improved arrows for the hunter challenge or just use a rifle with scope for a clean no-worry kill. That is much better than riding by, being bucked off right in front of it, then panicking while trying to get that clean shot while trying not to die.

Aug 2nd 2021 on PC it works. Make sure if you’re getting a full garnet, your saved outfit one doesn’t have a hat or coat and make sure you wear your bandana after you view the set you want and then equip it again after tearing down your camp, then save. Wait a few seconds, then load up that save point again. It worked for me that way.

You have to have the bandana saved to your preset 1 as well. But, if I'm not mistaken over time you won't be able to equip the outfits you've saved because it glitches out. Make a save right before you do this so it doesn't mess up your entire game incase you need to go back.

Couple things: again, yup, custom outfit 1 has to have a bandana equipped as standard 2: you dont have to rent the room there in strawberry, just go to the changing room behind the general store and save it there

Never really had an issue hunting in the story or even the online mode, hunting was fairly realistic as in when bear coats came out I had all of them within 3 hours of just leaving deer carcass near a river in bear territory

Can confirm this still works in October of 2022. The only thing is when you stand up to tear down your camp make sure to equip your Banda before you tear it down and then the glitch will work. I also found out that it works with holsters and bandoliers but they won’t count towards your 100% progress, but if you just want them to make and outfit and don’t care about 100% the game then this glitch is perfect.

[UPDATE: August 2023] This is still working as of August 2023. Note: As mentioned elsewhere, you must have your bandana as part of your custom outfit for this to work. Also, you can use any shop wardrobe/changing room (along with your camp or hotel room) to save your custon outfit.

The trapper is the biggest grind in the entire game. First playthrough I did it legit, second playthrough (doing it right now) I used a mod to make all animals have perfect pelts and it STILL took me maybe 50 hours. I'm case anyone is wondering, this also works for the Legend of the East Satchel just go to Pearson at camp and view the Satchel then just follow the same steps in the video Just be aware it does not unlock the ability to carry 100 of every item, only the cosmetic of it. You have to craft all other satchels and then you unlock the ability to get the Legend of the East satchel the correct way with the 100 inventory capacity

So just to be clear, while this glitch does work as shown, you cannot permanently save the clothing items to your normal clothing/ crafted inventory - you only save the custom outfit itself, until you delete that specific custom outfit. The only items you can save permanently are the hats by having them knocked off and picked back up. Hats attained this wau from this glitch show up in your crafted items as if youd legitamately crafted them. No other items will until you actually craft them legit.

I used the trapper on the hill near Riggs Station and I didn’t have to put the bandana on. It was just part of my custom outfit that was stored in slot one. I had no issue reloading with the garment outfit or individual hats. PS4 v1.24

before you equip a horse outfit to see if it is on all of them do this: save after you get the hat you want (this is mostly for hats) then go to someone and run into them and they will punch you the hat will then be on the ground pick it up and it will no longer register as an unequipable hat

Alright guys here we go: Do the same thing as shown in the video, BUT FIRST: - Go to your camp - Save an outfit with a bandana on the outfit, it doesn't work if you just equip it before saving, and don't use any coats (in the video he's wearing one but well I wasn't so idk) - After choosing your outfit put your bandana on, set camp, it will remove the bandana but then you get up, put your bandana back on, tear down your camp and do the save/load method. It worked for me! April 14th

So, I had already unlocked everything except the muskrat gloves on The Desperado outfit. Did this glitch and was able to save the whole outfit under Saved Outfits, but the gloves weren't added to my Crafted Gloves, and outfit wasn't available under Crafted Outfits. Once the outfit is deleted, the gloves are gone. So, this can't be used to get to the completion outfit.

I'm in my 30s, have a full time job and a family, I play only an hour or so every day, I've owned this game for about 6 months and I'm nearly done with my second 100% playthrough. It's really not that time consuming... it's just that most people don't like hunting or aren't good at it. I happen to be very good at it and enjoy it. It's one of my favorite parts of the game.

07/2024 - Xbox One. Still working! The hunting in this game is very immersive and very well made, so I recommend doing as much as possible the legitimate way. So, for those like me who don't want to lose years of their lives to the stress of hunting 3 American robins, do it with the Bison Gambler's Hat, the most difficult craft in the game, except for the things made of Moose maybe, but for this the large pelts duplication glitch is better.

Incidentally, instead of getting into a fight or kicked by a horse, just select "Arthur's Hat" from your horse and then pick up the special hat (it will fall to the ground).

@@JotaroKujo-nj4bx in chapter 4 you have a mission called "Angelo bronte man of honour", before you do that mission enable all cheats you want and TURN ON autosave, otherwise it won't work, after completing the mission game will automatically auto save, reload that autosave and go to sleep, after that you'll probably get letter from Mary, pick it up and save game manually, if not, do any side missions and you can save the game, good luck mate :)

I have a problem, once I save the outfit, it doesn't show up as specific pieces I can chose on the fly. I have to go to "Custom Outfits" and screw around. Do you have a workaround so I could for example, go to "Crafted Coats" and chose the panther's cloak?

No you'll have to create a custom outfit and style it from there, i reccomend going into the clothing section and deleting all other customs except for the glitched set and saving it. That way you can stack satchels and such using this glitch on Pearson's cart.

Well this is a pretty good trick.Anyway I'm gonna stick with the traditional way of hunting and crafting. I almost hunted all the legendary as well as normal animals in the game except for some birds. So i do have most of these outfits in my wardrobe. The thing i hatr about trapper outfits are they are all suitable for cold weather, none of the coats is suitable for hot climate. So we couldn't wear these cool outfits in all locations especially in lemoyne and new austin where the temperature is at its most.

Well most outfits are made from pelts (hence why you get then from a trapper) and pelts are not exactly known for their cooling abilities

I wonder if you can save Gloves doing this too. You can equip and Unequip Gloves. Go to Bandana and Press R2 and it'll give you the option for that. It's a shame you can't get the full outfit but you can get everything else though.

This glitch is ok I guess but I’m guessing you can’t mix and match certain pieces of clothing with other ones to make your own outfit is that right? Id rather just hunt for them tbh that way it can be saved in my inventory and I can mix and match as I please. Some people say they can’t find certain 3 star animals but I found most pretty easily. I’ve unlocked most of the trapper outfits legitimately and I’m barely in chapter 2. For small game animals like small birds, opossums, skunks, raccoons, badgers, rabbits, ravens, turkey vultures, hawks, snakes, bald eagles, quail, squirrels, both brown & black rats are all abundant around Riggs Station near Strawberry and the trapper is up on that hill next to Riggs Station so you can take the pelts to him. I recommend this spot for small game. For farm animals like Angus Ox, Bulls, Cows, Goat, Sheep, Chickens, Roosters, and Pigs go to Saint Denis and behind the cemetery you will see the slums and you can find pigs roaming the streets and a little more outside the slums your going to see a bunch of farmland where you will find all the other farm animals I mentioned and the Saint Denis trapper is really close to. I noticed you need a lot of beaver and boar pelts to craft certain items so I found a great spot where they are abundant. It is risky though because it is really close to the border where big valley and the northern part of tall trees is. That River that separates them is the border but on that river you will always find about 4 to 5 beavers chilling right there just make sure you use varmint rifle and get a clean headshot for 3 star pelt on beavers and make sure you kill them before they go to deep on the other side of the river because as you all know if you linger in the wanted side of West Elizabeth to long Pinkertons will be on you quick. Moose also tend to spawn there with the beavers and on the hillside before the river you will see a bunch of wild boar running around. The beavers is definitely high risk high reward type of situation but worth it.

**PLEASE READ** YOU MUST BE WEARING A BANDANA ON SAVED CUSTOM OUTFIT ONE I discovered this glitch some time ago but just never bothered to make a video on it I've searched KZbin and it looks like no one else has discovered this glitch this glitch was done on PS4 with the latest version of RDR2 1.26 Forgot to mention in the video that this also works with the reinforced equipment so none of the challenges are required as well UPDATE: I've been getting lots of mixed responses in the comments some say it works some say it don't so I guess for those that it works for must have something that the non working players don't have idk what it could be honestly I just did this one day and it worked and this is the newest version of the game it could be that or it could be something else I have no idea but it worked for me UPDATE: I've gotten a comment saying this only works if you wear a bandana so if it didn't work for you try wearing a bandana
