Great method. May I suggest a few tiny refinements? 1. Get the miner's helmet from _Beryl's Dream_ mine in Big Valley, West Elizabeth. Put it on before you pay for your ticket to Annesburg. It helps you see in the dark during the gun battle in the tunnel. 2. After the train departs Annesburg Station, you can leave your seat and climb up on top of the carriage and train surf until it's time to make your way forward to the locomotive. Stay crouched to avoid being knocked off when you pass through the various small tunnels before the big one. No-one will mind you being up there provided you DO NOT go on the forward two carriages. 3. Stay on the third coach leaving yourself a run up. When you catch sight of the tunnel, stand up and run forward, leaping from carriage to carriage all the way to the locomotive. Time it right and you will be on the footplate just as you enter the tunnel. This minimises the time the guards are alerted. 4. Don't bother drawing your gun and shooting the driver. Instead select the "Drive Train" prompt when it appears. You will automatically throw the engineer off the moving train as you assume control of the engine. 5. Press accelerate and continue into the tunnel. 6. Instead of stopping the train, just leave the controls. The train will free wheel to a halt. But while it's moving it prevents guards jumping off the train and running along the track to flank you. That allows you to target all of them inside of the train, which keeps them in one direction and allows you to control the battle. 7. Rob the train as normal and escape. Hope this helps. Enjoy.

@@meerkatking5521 Tried it just now. I was in Rhodes, bought a ticket to Annesburg. Cut scene of train journey. Train arrived at Annesburg. Stood up automatically, so just sat down again and stayed aboard the train. After two or three minutes it set off, heading North into the mountains toward the long tunnel. It isn't patched. But, slightly adjusted method, if you want to try an alternative and rob a scheduled train. In the morning, head up to the track North of the "O" in Ambarino on the map. Find a gap in the cutting just off the railway line to park your horse. Use the menus and tell your horse to STAY. Equip yourself and head East on foot along the track to the wooden rockfall protection structure over the track. Climb on top. At just after 12 Noon a passenger train will come by. Drop onto the roof of a carriage. When in view of the tunnel, head forward and take over the train. Rob it per the 'perfect' method above. When you're done, head to the East end of the tunnel, wait until any "Crime Reported"/"Searching" statuses have gone. Emerge from tunnel and whistle horse. Make get away.

You could do this WAY more effectively. Consider this.... 1.) Dont jump up on top of the train. Just wait for the train to enter the tunnel then approach the guards and kill them. This way you won't be shot at when you're driving the train. Kill them first, then the driver. 2.) Use explosive rounds to open the safe. Dynamite placement can be unpredictable (as you've shown) and you wont have to run away as it blows up. Just shoot it and loot it. (You can use that) 3.) You walked your happy ass out of the tunnel without your horse? No problem put that bitch in reverse and ride it BACKWARDS back to Annesburg. There is still no bounty, no red ring, just ghost ride it back into the station, jump off, and call your horse. I'd love to see you make another vid with these ways to show the MOST efficient way to rob this train. Cheers!

I did like 5 train heists in one run at that mountain tunnel and the last train spawned just stationary near the mouth of the tunnel. Everyone on board just chilling. Got like 650$ in money today, not including all the other goodies. And my honors only down to around 35%! Time to greet the city folk.

They come really infrequently, sometimes they're cargo trains which have like maybe 30$ worth of goods, some passenger trains spawn empty which is useless, but when the passenger trains have a bunch of ppl and safes in them, get them in that tunnel and you're good to go. Once you're done, run out to the east mouth of the tunnel and then a little further and wait for another one to come. Rinse and repeat. The old trains de-spawn and if you move your camera angle around while waiting I've found that the next ones come quicker. But still have a movie playing in the background lol

Here’s a tip that’s probably already been discovered but underneath the floorboards of abandoned trading posts along the tracks, there’s usually an option to inspect floorboards and there’s sometimes a recipe or around 20 dollars inside.

Have you tried recently? I started playing story again for the first time since 2019 when i left it in chapter 3. Last night i was waiting for a passenger train at the tunnnel area but no train ever came. Then i went to Ainsburgh to get on the train and accidentally got into a fight with a traveler before the train arrived by antagonizing them, which ended up into a huge altercation woth the locals and the law, which inbarely survived, and racked ip a $600 + bounty. Getting the mining helmet makes this train robbery alittle easier since you can see Alot easier and still have both hands free. Helmet is in a cave just east of where the legendary buck is. Also same place you find one of the bounties you collect in strawberry.

The thing on the headend of the train is called a locomotive, the guy running the train is the engineer, the things in between are cars. The first cars are baggage cars, the last few are passenger cars, last car is the caboose/hack//crummy/way car. (Passenger trains did not typically have a caboose, but some did) Historically at this there should be there guys in the cab of the locomotive, an engineer, fireman, and head brakeman, in the body of the train there should be a conductor, swing brakeman, and rear brakeman.

I robbed it fine then drove it around to the next station & bought a ticket to Annesburg straight away (because i'm doing Bandit challenge 9 rob 5 trains) but then when it got there, i couldn't sit down & the train wouldn't start; so i had to just kill the driver in Annesburg & ended up with $240 fine > the loot. Even the passengers were kind of alarmed = i'd go to say hello & they would be alarmed but then say hello = glitchy. My hypothesis =there has to be a cooldown of 24 hours or something before u can rob the train again.

This method is gold i have earned about 600 dollars each train i rob and that without a single bounty the only down side is the honor drop but what i reccomend to do is donate 20 dollars 5 times = 100 dollars for the Camp and like that you will keep your honor and you will still have 500 dollars , other tip that i give is to rob trains from Saint Denis they will have more pessangers plus they gonna have more money and last lasso all the passangers that you Rob and loot them they will have more money and items that they don't give you , good hunting guys !

You can't lasso passengers on a train....theyre sitting, the game won't let you. You have to kill them.

This was a fucking disaster. I robbed the train without being recognized but as soon as I blew the safe I got a 105$ bounty and cops waited outside the tunnel. I got shot to hell and barely escaped into the trees, and realized my horse was way far away and was glitched onto some stupid rock so it couldn’t come to me. Then a fucking bear almost mauled me and RIGHT BY IT was a COUGAR and I got mauled to death. When I spawned back in, I had to shoot someone and steal their horse, and when I stole the horse, another guy rode up and was a witness, so I tried to shoot him, when I realized I had just used the last bullet I HAD ON MY ENTIRE PERSON on the man I JUST stole the horse from. So I had to run from the law AGAIN. Worst experience ever.

If you guys find yourself with the same issue I did (the train won't depart from Annesburg), just rip the driver out and take the train all the way to the tunnel yourself, yes the law will be after you at first, but once you take it to the tunnel you'll still get the clean robbery. Also the guards somehow don't hit you

This works well but I did get a $50 bounty. Then I stopped the train in the tunnel and when the guards got off to flank me, I started the train and left them in the dust! After looting the train, I drove it all the way around to the Horseshoe Overlook, got out and just walked into camp. 😁

The problem with the Annesburg train is after you rob it once, the town can recognize you and the train won’t go. You can still rob it and drive it to the tunnel yourself but you’ll probably get a $50 bounty in Annesburg and a $300 one in the Grizzlies when you blow the safe. Luckily you can spent all your money on shit and surrender so u won’t pay it

For anyone wondering if this still works, it does (somewhat) I couldn’t not get a bounty when I stopped the driver, what I recommend is that you stop the driver as soon as getting into the dark tunnel, drive to the middle of the tunnel and stop the train. Kill all the enemies then you can rob every one. I like using the miner helmet instead of using the lantern since for some reason it’s never on Arthur. You can also shoot the lights on the trains (or close to them) and the lights in that specific cabin.

Worked flawlessy! It's just a shame I didn't get a safe/lockbox generated train, it only had the passengers and useless junk in the back, but in terms of being easy it was highly easy and I would certaintly recommend. Some tips I would recommend is wearing the miners hat which helped, make sure you have the regular lantern and not the electric one (poopy). Also I ran up the train and made my way towards the conductor as soon as I got within the tunnel. No lawmen were waiting or came down, best summed up it was a "Get money get out" kinda thing.

Happened to me too, after robbing a train. What I did was stand up from my chair in that train and in a bad mood go and get the train started miself. Sorry for the train driver, that I threw him off the window to achieve my objective, but well, sh*t happens. *To those who do care about the honour:* To Lose the least honour I always bring a good amount of health cures to give me gold health rings when I hogtie everyone shooting me. You'll get shot a lot in the middle of the hogtie animation but at least you end up killing no one so you only lose honour when robbing the passengers. A further tip: it's slower if you run, tackle, and then hogtie someone so the guards might still kill you if you hogtie people this way. The quickest way to hogtie someone is to obviously have the hogtie equipped, full sprint at the target and then let go of the left analog as to come to a sudden stop right next to the target and then mash circle(melee) to hogtie them. You'll just grab them by the shoulder and throw them on their stomach and hogtie them instead of going through the whole tackle and mount animation, and then that little pause after you mount the target while the options and button prompts show up on screen. I found this accidentally. You can also rob the train when it’s in the valley at 3:37 and you’ll be fine as well. Another pro tip is if you already have a train stolen, you can use that as a road block and eventually a train will come up behind you. Then it’ll be stuck behind you in the middle of nowhere and it’s very easy to rob

An efficient way to grind cash is to steal coaches near the coachfence. 15-40$ like every 2-3mins. Another way is, to steal a good horse, bonding to lvl 3 and sell it at the horsefence.

bonding to lvl 3 is a waste lol, first method is legit but theres only 2: 1. what you said, just rob every coach leaving emerald and run outside the witness zone and repeat, can get $40 (if you know which to take) every 30sec-1min if you do it right, imo better than stupid money clip glitch 2. you dont just steal any old shit horse n spent hrs bonding to lvl 3 for $40 or w.e, instead just go to the "spawn" in Saint Denis where arabians are and just steal them and sell at level 1 for $600+ (probably way more if brought to the fence and bonded) i just sell them right at the stables and repeat both lead to infinite money, take 1min~ to do, and either $40 or $600 per time. money in this game is a joke, and i never even used EITHER of these methods, i had enough to buy every upgrade available in the game just from doing the treasure hunts legit, then after switching to john you get $20k and are good. If you read/follow what i said above, you'll too have every single item (even every color of every piece of clothes) before ch6 ends and never be broke either.

I think you can make a lot more money of going around at Emerald Ranch, robbing every wagon and sell them all to the wagon fence in Emerald Ranch. You can make 40 dollar from each wagon and they are always spawning around the Ranch. You wont even get a bounty if you rob them, you only need to kill the witness and sell the wagon.

Good stuff - thanks for the video! With a few tweeks like adding the miners hat and moving to the car behind where you're sitting _and then_ jumping on top of the train so the guards are never alerted until you are ready to jump down and take out the engineer - I was able to get a really nice take (aim for the afternoon trains folks). With no bounty - which of course makes train robbery (finally) a viable financial option. With the other methods I was spending almost most much as I got from the heist to pay off the bounty.

You basically recreated the famous Last great train robbery of 1923. It happened on an old segment of southern pacific rail line in California called "The Road of a Thousand Wonders". Except the real one was three brothers and they completely bunged the job which lead to a four year long manhunt concluding in their capture. There's legends that they may have gotten enough loot to have stashed a sizable treasure hoard somewhere after the robbery.

guide still works even to this day. but be warned of the annesburg glitch where the train won't move for some reason and all the passengers get agitated. when this happens, book a train ride to saint-denis. then ride the train north to annesburg. it's a bit longer but a fallback in case the glitch happens. also be warned, the glitch can happen in saint denis as well. to fix that, you need to get off the train and wait a bit for it to start moving. then quickly jump back on the passenger side. sometimes you have to run to the front of the train and it will start moving suddenly and very quickly. i spent the last 5 hours robbing a handful of trains to find this information. some of it was from reddit, then rest from gameplay.
