They know where he is, so why not have him whack the others for good intention. It's diabolical to work 98% in their favor with no backlashes.

I grew up with someone sort of like Uncle and Charles. He started out as the general contractor for my Gma’s house and condo, but he had a certain shine to him that kept him around and he became a somewhat grandfather figure to my brother and I. We all did but of course they all had their own paths in life to follow, but had they stayed then they would have died for sure just like uncle. Not all of them were wanted/known since most of the members kept a low profile and didn't cause much trouble during their time with the gang so they went by mostly unnoticed. Uncle for example went by unnoticed by the pinkertons and only died because he was near John when they came for him
