"We've killed better men than you fools." Arthur's sincerity is probably what makes the character so good. Like Sadie says, he has a tendency to point out the obvious. One line that stuck with me was when you do the photographer's mission in the swamps, the guy asks "What do you know about aligators?", and Arthur responds: "Just the basics. Avoid them as much as possible." 😂

Can you, on the spot think of something nice to say to someone that seems even the slight bit meaningful that you hope wills tick with them? Most people need a good minute to think of something, so that they know for sure it's worth saying to someone. It's hard to do even for natural orators. Comparatively, it's very easy to think of insults or ways to argue with people nomatter how insignificant or un-contextual it may be. It's easy to be mean. It's hard to be nice.

Many times specific writers will work on different quest lines/trees/parts of the game, so it may just have happened that a top notch writer was working on this line. No offense to the other writers and producers who keep the tone/style the same, they are great as well. But you're right, this and a couple other quest lines have a bit better detail/thought.

Plus, you get a game on top of it all ANNNND you can go sit around a campfire in the middle of the forest at night with your real life friends, listening to the wolves howl and the loons call even though you’re all in separate real life locations. There's no need shooting in this situation is a death sentence. If one person shoots they all shoot each other. That's why Arthur ends up kicking the gun to the captain.

Gotta love the irony. The plan was to rob the bank and run off to a tropical island. Which, they sort of did. Almost symbolic of things never being as glorious as they kept imagining they would be.

This game is ART - that's why I spend my life just making videos from parts of it in a cinematic respect - but just playing the game, the design is amazing - I went up to a NPC yesterday with Arthur in st denis and it was a wealthy one - wearing a yellow suit vest - when I hit the button to insult him (before shooting him) Arthur said : yellow belly .. They took the amount of time to unlock dialogue lines on random npcs your not supposed to shoot in the story mode anyway - but details - omg - details - everyone who had anything to do with this game deserves a raise.

Dutch is an intesting charcter. I havent played rdr1 yet and when i played rdr2 i never watched any spoliers of any kind since i had heard how great the story is. As Arther I really liked Dutch and really felt like part of the gang. Before dutch started going nutts i really felt like micha was a rat as the story progressed i realized ofc he was. They did such a good job writng the story i felt betrayed myself. Its crazy how micha got in dutches head like that. Anyway it felt great as John on the mountain finnally able to blow holes in him 😅 i had tried to blow him up a lot before the end scene. I cant wait to play the first one now and discover what ends up happening to Dutch.

Yeah, the main characters like John, aurther, and Dutch, micah all felt like real people. When dutch and micah went crazy and betrayed you it felt way more impactful, i wonder how different the game would be if we never let micah out of that cell
@genesishandboards
@genesishandboards 9 ай бұрын
@@Tobi-KZbin I wondered the same thing. Should have let him hang. Dutch may have come to his senses and lead the gang to safety as he had kept talking about. And yes the way the story was it did feel like it was real people and the feeling of betrayal was strong. I felt so bad for everyone when the Pinkertons had their attack at beavers hollow. And once you find out micha led them there it hits even harder.

@@Tobi-KZbin haha yes! When I played thru the first time I was thinking I thought the last one was the final score lol. Dutch declined pretty fast too. I was hearing him give his lil pep talks at the camps and then saying the gang was betraying him. He really went off his rocker.
