You can re-can pickle relish and pickles from those huge Sam's Club/Costco jars as well as the huge cans of ketchup. Here's a tip for getting canning jars. I checked Auction zip for auctions that have canning jars. I found an auction that had a ton- I called the auctioneer and put in a bid. At the end of the day, the auctioneer called me and I had to drive down immediately to pick them up- it was a long way, away (about a 2 hour drive one way), but the entire back of the pickup truck was boxes stacked double high. I got them for close to nothing- I sent the auctioneer a check and I have been using those jars for years. It took me over 2 weeks to get them all washed and put away-but when it was all said and done I had $0.07, yes, seven cents for each jar. Year and years ago we drove to WV for an equipment auction, they had boxes and boxes of the 1/2 gallon blue ball jars- Yep, we didn't get any equipment, but you can bet, I got all of those blue 1/2 gallon ball jars...and at a steal of a deal too. lol Good video, Tessie!

I re canned a big can of chadder cheese nacho sauce yesterday. Learned it from your video where you did the cheese sauce. When l give someone something I have canned. I tell them your only getting what is inside the jar, I want the jar back. And l will hunt you down to get it back. I always get a chuckle out of them. Yes they give me my jar back when they finish using what was in the jar.

I've been very curious about recanning condiments. There are only 2 of us here but my husband doesn't eat any condiments at all. I mean none! Lol! No ketchup, mayo, mustard, barbecue sauce or any type of salad dressing! I still find that mind blowing after 22 yrs of marriage. I on the other hand love all kinds of condiments. My family calls me the condiment queen because I have way more than the average person. They take up a ton of room in my refrigerator but I can't give them up. Well, I hope I never have too. With all that being said I really don't eat much of them per serving. I do buy extras and keep in my pantry but I've never bought those really big containers because I feared wasting them. You had enough mustard in just one of those big containers to probably last me a lifetime. 😜 I appreciate all your videos because I've not seen many folks do this.

Thanks for another great tip,Tessie! I have one for you, too. Extra canning rings can be used to lift the jars from the bottom of the canner to make a platform for the tea-towel. I learned this when someone misplaced my rack. Of course, then you have to use a jar-lifter to get them out. Have a Blessed day!

I think rescanning is logical and smart. You can buy in bulk which is cheaper but once you open the product you are committed to hurry up and eat it before it goes bad. Recanning solves that and also rations it. You can also barter or give a small container to someone that needs it without giving away the huge amount. You give me do many good ideas girl 😉

Great idea Tessie! I almost bought a huge jug of ketchup on sale the other day, but opted for the 2 smaller bottles instead, as I knew I would never use that much soon enough. I spent more on the bottles, and got lots less ketchup. I never thought of doing this with them. Thanks. Next time I will do this.
