Draft regrades should happen when the player is about to hit his first free agency… that’s the team doing what they can with him, whether he’s a bench player, all star or part of a trade, that’s the window. If he becomes great afterwards it shouldn’t count as a good draft, probably should be a mark against the coaching system

Tatum was and is good with the Celtics. Fox was good and is good with Sacramento. Bam was and is good with the Heat. Mitchell was good with Utah and is good with the Cavs. Collins was good with Atlanta and is good with Utah. Issac well..he’s good when he’s healthy. White was good with San Antonio and is good with Boston. Allen good with Brooklyn and good with Cleveland.

Let's give Lauri Markkanen pick A and Bulls development and coaching staff at the time D or F. I think that's fair 😉😄
@CorporalCookie8 ай бұрын
Oh yeah, the Bulls staff really wasted potential with their decisions. Shows in how much better he got physically right after dumping the Bulls coaches (well technically he didn't dump them as he got traded to Cleveland) and hired his own coach who had worked with him in Finland and got a completely different physical training regimen.
@magicofshootingstar58258 ай бұрын
@Identify_As_Right Well didn't I give Bulls development stuff bad grade? 🤔😄 It has been one of coach Hardys things last season that he has been encouraging Lauri to be more physical with his opponents.

The Celtics trading back to get the best player in the draft is the best draft move in recent memory. Maybe the Mavs getting Luka from ATL, but this is on par.
@KevinDurantBurnerAccount9 ай бұрын
I say Boston move was way better. They traded the first pick to the third pick. The first pick is a role player vs the third pick who is a future MVP. Trae and Luka are both stars in their own right where Luka is better than Trae it is arguable. You can’t argue that Fultz is better than Tatum in any world.
@resinct32679 ай бұрын
@@KevinDurantBurnerAccountTrae is not arguably better than Luka. Luka is a tier above Trae. It’s still a win win of sorts
@KevinDurantBurnerAccount9 ай бұрын
@@resinct3267 as an all around player yes. But there are some facets of their game one can argue is better than the other.
@jackcoogan3109 ай бұрын
@@KevinDurantBurnerAccount has nothing to do with who went 1, it’s the fact that Tatum went to 3 and wasn’t even seen as a potential number 1 by anyone outside Boston. Definitely didn’t compare fultz to Tatum, so not sure where that part came from. It was a risk, even if Fultz was the undisputed #1 coming in, giving up their spot at 1 and a guarantee at the guy they wanted, and snagging an extra pick is crazy. Just as crazy is giving up a proven scorer like Trae on draft night for a teenager from Europe. He was the MVP in Spain, but the history of European players has been a mixed bag at best. I’d say the risk in swapping a person who’s game the NBA is catered to for a “risky” play from Europe, is on par with giving up the potential scoring upside of Fultz for a more rounded player like Tatum. Both were calculated gambles, and frankly, everyone got lucky Fultz just kinda forgot how to shoot as soon as he went pro/got hurt.
@KevinDurantBurnerAccount9 ай бұрын
@@jackcoogan310 I think it does. People thought Fultz would be a future superstar. His play at Washington State compared him to Harden. Whereas Tatum at the time didn’t have a high ceiling and people were saying how Boston is stupid for making a trade. Especially at the time when they had a sure fire superstar. People expected him to be a ready made NBA player who could contribute right away and he did. It was really dumb on Philly part to trade up considering they already had a non shooting point guard in Simmons. It’s the same mistake they made when they drafted 3 centers in a row. I say European players are always overlooked because the best players in the world are usually from the US as of right now. But that narrative is slowly changing. I’m not sure why Luka fell outside of number 1 in my opinion. Him play pro ball as a teenager should say more than enough. Trae is a beast but he has some ways to catch up to Luka if he ever does. I hope Fultz comes back into form and can stay healthy. He went to a local high school around me and I wish the best for him.
@philll.13589 ай бұрын
Its crazy how many people still to this day say "why didnt Philly drafted Tatum or why didnt the Lakers drafted Tatum instead" when Tatum was never either of the teams goals. Danny Ainge also wouldnt have traded back from the 1st pick if he wasnt 100% sure That Tatum wouldnt be taken by the 3rd pick.

Side note about Tatum: Assuming he developed into the same player he is today, how would he have fit on a team with Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid?
@antonioalexandercastro3520Ай бұрын
The 76ers needed an excellent guard and Fultz fit the bill. They have Ben Simmons and Embiid, and choosing Tatum wouldn't have made sense to them since basically, to them, they already have Simmons (who is taller). The Lakers were focused on Ball to play along side Lebron , who the league still think is the best player.

One of the best measures of a class is the HOFers. An average class will have a couple, a very good class will have 3, and legendary classes have 4. At the moment it seems like this class is on-target to potentially have 3 in Tatum, Mitchell, and Adebayo but you can't really count out Fox or Markkanen yet. While Lauri is getting a late start, he's likely going to be the focal point of the Jazz for the next decade so there's some favorable circumstances there. For Fox I'd say the Kings engine is honestly Sabonis, but they both benefit from each other and could build something very solid. Overall, not a particularly deep draft with less than 1/3 being serviceable NBA players beyond their rookie contracts (and several of those remain injury riddled), but the hits are pretty solid. It may not go down as legendary, but it is under-appreciated with a handful of potential perennial All-NBA players, plus several other guys with potential All-Star talent like Anunoby, Allen, Collins, and Kuzma. 6 years ago is a while, but we're far from closing the book on this draft class.

@@clapdrix72 he was riddled with injuries his first 3-4 seasons. His scoring talent was A+ coming out of college, and now he’s a better defender and playmaker than projected. Consensus #1 pick. JT was where the league was. He had every sign of being a damn good NBA player. Everyone was too busy flaunting over Lavar Ball to realize it. His advanced stats were phenomenal, he had a nearly perfect NBA body, defended, shot well, created his own shots. He was obviously the number 1 pick..... I could definitely see an argument for Fultz....but Kawhi, Lebron, George, KD, Butler, and Thompson were all top 20 players and Tatum clearly fit that mould to a "T". I think Danny just sifted through the bull*hit and were sold on him before he walked into their pre-draft workout and were itching to buy before anyone else found out. If you looked at his analytics, he was the top pick.
