I rolled my handlebars up quite a bit, and it made ergonomics even better, and mirrors have more adjustment. Putting Grip Puppies on to minimize any buzz. I'm loving it so far.

I got to ride one yesterday, the first thing I did was see if it would take off without giving it gas. Worked perfectly. RE really has fixed all the things the 411 had issues with.

Regarding the side stand / lean angle, you can find a video on KZbin (I think from the UK) where the bike’s lead designer is taking questions about it and they said that you have to lock in the design for the side stands relatively early in the bike’s design (so that they can be manufacture en masse) and then they had some late design changes which raised the bike and it ended up leaning over more than it was supposed to. You’ll probably be able to buy the updated (longer?) side stand when the model gets an update. Or maybe there’ll be aftermarket versions.

@@iraxef1 There's also a video of riders in India where they show the advantage of this kick stand. They ride on the other side of the road and because of the inclination on the side of the road the bike will actually stand better. RE should correct this though.

Man, you're answering a lot of good questions I had and questions I didn't think of. I have heard nothing but good, well reasoned, things about the 452 Himalayan. This bike is legit for real off road and real high/freeway riding.

I really dig them, all the Enfields are great bikes. I've test ridden a few and my only problem, as with many bikes, is being 6'3" I find them a bit cramped for distance work. However, riding the local back roads they are HUGE fun!

@@forgottenmotorcycles I wonder if the bike can do a million miles in a year, the engine might fail then. I mean you can do it alone, may be rent it out for long distance trips to others, keep it on road every day. With breaks only for regular service.

The RE engineer stated that the extreme lean angle was due to late changes to frame after kick stand already planned and neglected to change the stand. Future years will correct the short stand.

Thanks. Probably my next bike. My Hunter 350 is great for my little commute to work but I want this for distance and exploring off road. Lead design guy said they adjusted the sag on the rear shock just before production but they had already started making the side stands. May be updated in the future.

It’s a great looking bike in profile. From the cockpit even the large windshield looks clownishly small. Maybe it’s a GoPro thing though. That’s the thing I’ve noticed ever since the bike was released in India.

Would you consider it over a KLR 650?
@forgottenmotorcycles

The new Himalayan is nice. However, two things that keep me from upgrading from my 411 are the Ride by Wire and the TFT display. I prefer cable throttle and analog gauges. Too many electronic features on the 450. I just prefer simplicity.

I also don't like the bolt on sub frame. The KLR 650 used to have one and it had a tendency for failure becoming loose or breaking. Kawasaki went away from it and doesn't have that issue anymore.

I did install the seat concept tall firm seat on my 411. The new 452 has a seat very much like the seat concept seat and comfortable. Having said that, if seat concepts comes out with the seat for this bike, and it's taller, I shall buy it.
