If you’re looking to stay longer than the duration of the games, you must visit Kyoto. Take the bullet train, and visit the old imperial capital of japan. Stunning architecture, untouched by the bombings of ww2, they’re absolutely spectacular. Kamakura is near Tokyo, also with great temples. Then the rest you can enjoy in Tokyo, maybe when there are sports you aren’t interested in.

I was hoping that Istanbul, Turkey will host the 2020 Summer Olympics, instead it goes to Tokyo, Japan, they had host the Olympics before that was in 1964, now they get to host it the 2nd time. Don't worry Istanbul, Turkey will get the chance to host it in the future. Three straight Olympics Asia dominates. 2018 in Pyoenchang, South Korea; 2020 in Tokyo, Japan; and 2022 in Beijing, China (the 1st city to host both the Winter/Summer Olympics) history making, no other continent will get the chance to host the Olympics until 2024, I would say that Paris, France will be the favorite to host it 100 years after they (Paris) last hosted it. Tokyo, will be follow by Paris, France.

I'm probably going to get downvoted here, but just from the clips in this video, it seemed to me like Istanbul had the best presentation and reasons for winning the bid and should have gotten it over Tokyo.

I'm sure more factors would have come into consideration such as the city's ability to hold such a major event and whether the event will gain enough traction if being held in the city etc.
