The greatest thing about the Olympics is not the tradition. It is that we could put aside our differences and come together to be a part of the greatest games on earth: the Olympic games. Had the Greeks had seen what would have came of their tradition, I know that they would be truly proud. Though we do not share the meaning of what the Olympics were, we have recreated a new meaning: treating other nations like that of a family. I am happy to be a part of this family. Though I am not in the games, my heart is. To anyone from other countries, good luck. Speaking as part of the United States, I wish your country the best in the games.
@PaulThomasV8 жыл бұрын
would be no problem since the Brazilian athletes aren't tested on doping anymore.
@mitchharper44618 жыл бұрын
Is it wrong? Yes, it is but that is not what the games are about. Many athletes today and in the past have and are taking performance enhancing drugs but many of them were not scolded. However, the important thing is that they were beaten. They lost to people who were not using drugs. Consider it to make the games that much more difficult. What do we have to gain from winning the gold? Nothing. There is no worth in a lie but there is worth in doing the best of your ability against others doing the best of their best abilities even if that means they are cheating.
@PaulThomasV8 жыл бұрын
I remember seeing pictures of athletes dropping dead behind the finish line due to strychnine and amphetamines. Is that what we want to see again? We can be gullible and trust athletes to not take doping,, but that doesn't work. They all need to be tested. And the fact that the Brazilian athletes aren't checked anymore, stinks to high heaven.
@mitchharper44618 жыл бұрын
You're right. It would be a shame to see that but that is the fault of the athlete. As an Medical Service student, I can tell you that many times, these kinds of things happen. It seems shameful to the nation but they, more than likely did it for the nation. If I found out that an American Olympic athlete dropped dead of drugs during an Olympic game, I might feel a little ashamed of him or her, but had I have known that he or she did it for the nation, I would be proud of him or her, not for the usage of drugs, but that he or she were willing to risk it all for the nation and for something that means nothing but honor.
@PaulThomasV8 жыл бұрын
In the news today: 'Brazil athletes not dope tested ahead of Rio 2016 Olympics' and 'The International Olympic Committee (IOC) chose not to impose a blanket ban on all Russian athletes but directed sports federations to allow them to compete if they met a set of criteria, including a clean doping past and sufficient testing at international events.' Different criteria for Brazilian athletes?
