Sometimes riding bitless with a hackamore is much more severe! It puts pressure on the sensitive nerves of the face, and in a heavy handed rider can be very painful indeed. A good, well fitted bit , suited to the horse for the activity required is often the much gentler choice.

I tried bitless and my horse hated it, she actually preferred the bit 😅
@katelynbahr1902 Жыл бұрын
I prefer bitless. If they can't ride with soft hands they shouldn't be jumping at this level. If a bitless hackamore is put on correctly it is much more comfortable. Vet documents state "Bits have been associated with mouth, lip and jaw-bone lesions [3, 4] High rein pressure on the bit can lead to the restriction of head movement during riding, resulting in uncomfortable postures and/or movements as horses attempt to avoid the bit pressure" If used correctly bits can be a great tool to help give a horse clearer signals but you can also use other things such as your legs and leaning to provide the signals. My preference is bitless and I don't have an issue with bits as long at they are not being used by a heavy-handed person. I believe lesson horses for new riders should always be bitless because new riders rely way to much on the reins.

Correction, horses don't ,over jumping, hey have absolutely no choice, plus in the realm of physics, it's no beuno on their joints. Why bars fall? Because the animals are obviously tired and worn. The older the get, the more their joints are worn very quickly because of sports like this. I've come to learn a lot and still learning on the dynamics of equestrian disciplines and horses in general. I USE to enjoy these disciplines in the prospective of ignorance. Educating yourself and learning helps.
