Nice to see Geoff getting a mention. Tim often gets the sole credit (not his fault). Hi from Plok co-designer!

Hi! Oh, by the way, what would you think about if Nintendo puts the Plok game on the Nintendo Switch Online SNES app one day? I think that would make me very happy and it would introduce a lot of new gaming generations to that underrated masterpiece of a game that you made :)

what's crazy to me about Beach is the opening part of the song. It's being played in a 7/8 time measure, but it switches almost seamlessly into a 4/4 once the breakdown begins, and then back into 7/8 right in the middle of the solo before it loops back to the beginning of the track.
@kuiperbelt2488 Жыл бұрын
Fun fact actually, it switches to *15/8* !!!!! Then it switches to 4/4 and back to 7/8 starting rhythm.
@Silviola82410 ай бұрын
@@kuiperbelt2488 Where does it switch to 15/8? I'm not hearing any groupings of 5 like that. Or are you saying an eighth is skipped at one point in a two bar 4/4 phrase?
@kuiperbelt248810 ай бұрын
@@Silviola824 Starts here at 4:44 . Basically, there are 4 bars that repeat through this portion. The first 3 have 4 beats grouped up, and the final fourth one is just a 3/4 count. It's pretty fast though, you'd have to really listen to it.
@Asterra2Ай бұрын
@@kuiperbelt2488 It doesn't. It maybe sounds like it does because the bass drum hits one tick early every time, but it's definitely 4/4. This is perhaps easier to hear later on when the guitar is doing enough melody that there's no way to confuse it with a shortened timing.

...and to think that ALL of these amazing tracks fitted into a 1MB (iirc) game cart, INCLUDING all of the graphics, levels, code, etc... Mind-blowing stuff! - I've always been blown away by this soundtrack, and the games incredible too - SO much to it!

Pretty good. You're still missing "cavern" and "creepy crag" tho, both are amazing tracks that you cut short in the first react video.

Most underrated SNES soundtrack / game, simple as. A lack of eShop remaster or sequel is criminal.

A Follin soundtrack I'd recommend for a reaction is Spider Man and X-Men in Arcade's Revenge, also for the SNES. The sound quality in some of the tunes is incredible!

Hi, the other time i told you to react to Dean Evans' compositions from the SNES era. But i'm gonna be more specific now. The tracks I think are the best ones would be: Waterworld - Diving (long track, but it's worth it) Waterworld - Map Eek! The Cat - Final Rescue Eek! The Cat - The End The Flintstones - Staff Roll The Flintstones - Password Screen The Flintstones - Unused Song 2

OH! Also, I'd definitely check out "Megaman X" for SNES. Very epic soundtrack. The Donkey Kong games, 1, 2, & 3, for SNES. "Starfox 64" OST for N64. And a random game I don't think anyone played, that was in a clearance bin when grocery stores had video rental sections: "Vortex" for SNES
@kraftyfox.26582 жыл бұрын
I just randomly started looking for old PLOK sfx, and stumbled on your first reaction vid, and I got really into it. I was really getting into the intro song, and you cut that off a little too soon too. There's like a half-time beat after, and then when it finally loops back, it's about when the peak of the song is about to fade, then the intro pops back in at that gentle low. But after that, I looked up reaction vids to PLOK music, and saw this remake, and I'm so glad you got to hear these songs thoroughly now!~ Subscribed!~ And if you're interested in some other OSTs, I'd recommend "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time" for SNES. (The OST changes i think in the Arcade version, and I think the Arcade version is missing levels and music.) As well as "Vectorman" for Sega Genesis OST, "Vectorman 2" also for Genesis, "Phantasy Star Online: Ep 1 & 2" for Dreamcast (maybe gamecube version too. Haven't heard it in a while), "Phantasy Star Online III: C.A.R.D. Revolution" OST for Gamecube was probably 1 of the best of the series. (Some of the slow songs build up over time in this one too. Specifically "Tower of Caelum" at like the halfway mark.) And "Legend of Mana" the Playstation 1 version. (I heard some of the remastered version, and I appreciate both.) All are lengthy endeavors. I'm just on a huge nostalgia binge right now. XD

Just discovered your channel, and loving it! It was mentioned in the comments already, but you have the SNES’ built-in sample filtering off on this OST. Turn it on! The samples sound much better that way.

Hi, I randomly stumbled on this video (and the first one) and I enjoyed your reaction and breakdown of the Plok! OST. It's one of my top game OSTs and I've always held it as the epitome of what the SNES sound hardware can do. As for other OSTs, I recommend checking out the Bomberman Hero OST by Jun Chikuma. It stands out with having its soundtrack being mostly jungle/DnB, with some other genres sprinkled in (e.g. acid techno, chill-out, lo-fi). Some notable tracks: Redial, Zip, Fatidic, Monogenic, Cell. Also, many of the OSTs composed by Konami's sound team in the 90s were pretty awesome. Some tracks I recommend: TMNT: Turtles in Time (Arcade) - Neon Night Riders, Starbase, Boss Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (N64) - Gourmet Submarine Castle, Ghost Toys Castle, I Am Impact

Look at Tales of Phantasia. It does some tricks with streaming samples for more instruments and higher sound quality. It also has a vocal in the intro.

Hey Technofunkboy the whole thing is that SNES sound chip did not use midi. It use samples and it only has a cache of 64kb. It was made by Sony.
