The reason the Jed are recruiting younger children is because they are desperate for Jedi to fight the Sith. Remember the galaxy was in utter chaos during this time period and exhausted because of 1000 years of almost non stop warfare against the Sith. The skeleton Githany scene scared the crap out of me as a kid in the last issue of the comic. I always thought she tried to pull a Darth Sion but it only kept her together long enough to talk to Bane because her desire to be with Bane was so strong. I was kind of disappointed Drew retconned that in the book though. I'm thinking about writing that part into the second Bane novel. Tomcat aka Darovit was explained to be barely force sensitive so thats why he survived the Thought Bomb. Darovit was drawing off of Zannah's latent connection through a force bond. Zannah exploded Darovit's hand so Bane wouldn't kill him. If you remember in the Bane books Baen hallucinated about seeing Kaan as a side effect of feeling the lthought bomb from far away so maybe that's we he sees his "ghost."

I figured the force chose to keep him alive, as there's no correlation between force-strength and falling victim to the Thought Bomb. I say this because according to both the audio-drama and novella versions of Star Wars: Dark Forces: Jedi Knight, some of the trapped spirits were described as being weaker compared to the stronger ones. Although, they do mention that the stronger spirits are Jedi masters. There's also the fact that the Thought Bomb would drain you, regardless of force-strength, if you're force-sensitive.

I'm rereading Jedi vs Sith: Issue 1, and Bug/ Hardin and Tomecat/ Darovit were described as having a strong connection to the Force by their cousin Root as he was presenting them to Torr Snapit.
@ironinquisitor3656 Жыл бұрын
@@FMK03 That's true, but what does Root know of the Force? Root maybe only perceives what he sees as "strong." It was revealed that Darovit was primarily drawing his power off of his cousin rain through their bond, after she left he became extremely weak.
@FMK03 Жыл бұрын
@@ironinquisitor3656 Well, for one, he was perceptive enough to suggest the possibility that Zannah's force-sensitivity had not yet manifested. Second, you'd think that a venerable, respected, and well known Jedi and scout seeking new Jedi, like Torr Snapit wouldn't have someone so unqualified present possible Jedi for training purposes and to aid in the desperate fight against the Sith in the New Sith Wars. How did he do that without any training? More important, how did he become extremely weak, force-wise? The only explanation that I could think of was that he had not received the training necessary to fully realize and hone both his strength in the force and his combat abilities.

The author of the comic is Darko Macan who is Croatian. It's interesting because he actually uses a ton of Slavic sounding names in the story.

I think Zannah blew up Tomcat's hand to keep Bane from killing him
@jayt96082 жыл бұрын
She did. One could call it a severe act of mercy, and Bane sees it as such. However, he was less concerned about offing an orphaned boy than he was getting off planet. This act suited him and his agalenda on a number of levels. 1) It demonstrates Zannah's commitment to this path. 2) It showed him that she had elements of mercy and pity in her that needed diminished. 3) It removed the immediate obstacle the boy presented without drawing hostile attention. 4) Though she would not have had the maturity to recognize it, his sparing of Tomcat would cement her loyalty to him because she owed him for not just killing the boy. This binds her to Darth Bane emotionally. 5) Tomcat never asks for mercy but is prepared to die to stop him. This is strength and courage, both of which Darth Bane valued highly in both opponents and allies. Thus, Tomcat could be granted mercy because he refused request it.

The way I see it, this is the legend of the seventh battle of ruusan (which is why you see exotic weapons and ships) and Path of Destruction is the true account of what actually happened (which is why it's more grounded)

Eh, I much prefer the Dark Forces Trilogy's recollection of events as it gave Kaan some much needed respect despite the fact it came before the Jedi vs Sith comics and the Darth Bane Trilogy, made Hoth as desperate as he should be given the Millenia-long nature of the New Sith Wars and his personality, and depicted the final confrontation between Hoth's Army of Light and Kaan's Brotherhood of Darkness with the scale such a conflict demands, as well as, having thousands of spirits being trapped as opposed to mere hundreds.

The ideas of technology that the comic book writer and artist come up with is crappy. The comic book is goofy. Darkhorse Comics questionable.

Why bringing children? Tell that to Lucas, it was his idea. At least in those comics that makes sense since the war had gotten out of control and they needed more fighters. Love those comics. You could compare them to the Shadows of the Empire comics, events that happen in the novel but are concentrated on other characters. You're rush reading, go easy man, you'll enjoy the EU far more. Savor each story. Jedi vs Sith has far better and original aesthetics that the KotoR/Old Republic material, more barbaric and it shows. Just awesome.

I never liked the fantasy aesthetics of Jedi vs. Sith, but in my headcanon they're using medieval weapons because they ran out of ammo and energy and due to the partial collapse of the holonet and hyperspace routes, logistics are extremely slowed down, which is why they had to come up with improvised weapons. And Farfalla's ship looks like that because he's an eccentric weirdo, lol. When it comes to KotOR/Old Republic aesthetics, I really love them. They look very distinct from the movie era aesthetics but still fundamentally Star Wars. The only problem with that is that I really love Tales of the Jedi aesthetics, too, and KotOR basically replaced them with their own. I kinda wish we had an alternative KotOR that uses TotJ aesthetics. But then again, I just imagine that from ca. 5000 BBY to 4000 BBY, the galaxy slowly transformed from TotJ to KotOR aesthetics.
