I think that Paul Tremblay using this sort of metaphor or comparison between possession and mental illness works because it is such a long time occurrence that people think that mentally ill people are possessed so it’s not an out of left field idea and he raises the question of how that affects a person, as a mentally ill person myself sometimes I do feel possessed by something dark lol. I wasn’t put off by it when I read a head full of ghosts but to each their own!

OMG the cats playing with the box were SO funny! Definitely going to read No One Gets Out Alive! Most likely the other 2 books as well! I LOVE your videos SO MUCH! I love that we get to see the books and hear your opinions and we get the bonus ASMR and the reading journal! Love you, bb!

is the 'not knowing what the ending is communicating' thing just a recurring issue for Paul Tremblay?? because that's exactly how i felt after cabin at the end of the world. could not figure out what i was supposed to get from that.

im so glad you said something about the grown up little sis’s voice in head full of ghosts, i had the same thought. i felt like she was very immature and wondered if that was supposed to be a function of the trauma she endures in the book? dunno but it also cringed me out lol

Yes!! That old lady on the ceiling scene! That stuck out to me too. I’m not sure if you mentioned it, but did you watch the movie? I haven’t yet because I heard it’s not good, but I’m still going to at some point. I really want them to follow the book because I need to see those last chapters of part one played out on screen, but I know they aren’t going to do that. 😫

I loved this vlog. I own The Devil Of Nanking but haven't read it yet. I also have a non-fiction book called The Rape Of Nanking all about what really happened. I haven't read that yet either but the pictures are beyond disturbing. I'm so glad you still love all these and I loved hearing your thoughts the 2nd time around.

wow loved this bb! a few thoughts 😂 first, I definitely was spooked by Head Full of Ghosts. I did interpret it as a possession novel. So the question about mental health representation, while totally valid, didn't resonate with me because I just assumed that the older sister, in fact, was not mentally ill at all and that society is the problem. but upon a revisit I might feel differently. for the devil of Nan king, I thin grey is definitely on the spectrum and has trouble reading the feelings of others. But yeah, she was definitely entitled. I thought it was so emotional and i ugly cried the last 25 percent of the book. 😂

Here to recommend the Nonfiction book by Iris Chang- The Rape of Nanking. It is EXTREMELY difficult to read and literally TW for every form of violence a person can do to another person. Very graphic as well.

Is this about Japanese soldiers & a Chinese village and what they did to the women?
