In this video I show how I re-upholstered & restored a retro Selle Italia Flite Titanium Gel bicycle seat.
We show the process involved in stripping off the original leather covering, prepping the foam and re-covering it with new leather hide.
The leather used is genuine leather approximately 2mm thickness, Which is too thick for this type of work. Ideally you would use something around 1mm thickness to cover this type of item.
It was the only leather I had here with me, So I thought I would give it a go to see how it came out....

Glad I found this. I’ve got a few of the classic Turbomatics. Tried others but it’s only model where my butt doesn’t complain. Some of they are getting near the end of their service life. TBH 30+ years ain’t bad. The newer Turbomatic and the ‘replacement’ Flite models seem a bit too wide at the back causing a bit of discomfort on long climbs when I slide back for better leverage. I’ve tried to break them in over my indoor training season, still not comfortable.

Awesome again. Have you tried doing it by cutting leather the same shape as the top that’s come off? Is that a bad idea as you have no leverage?

Thank you. You could do it that way, But I like to have the extra when fitting it. Then trimming is easy enough.

Thank you. I think this leather was from a seller on Ebay. The heat press decals I made myself. Give me a shout if you need some 👍

Hi there Retfurb! Are you using the Teflon Sheet Heat Transfer Film? I tried searching locally for such heat transfer films?
@retfurb
@retfurb 4 ай бұрын
Hello. I use the heat transfer vinyl. I normally use a sheet of Teflon to go between heat source and the vinyl heat film. This is to stop burning the heat vinyl transfer film, whilst fitting it.

Hello, I used spray adhesive. This particular one is from screwfix (UK) and is their own 'no nonsense' brand.
