Sometimes letting your mind wander is an important part of the Learning Process. We all are familiar with F o c u s e d thinking-but not so with D i f f u s e thinking. F o c u s e d mode represents a familiar thought pattern. Like traveling along a familiar road. But when the problem you’re working on needs new ideas/approaches/fresh new perspectives, you need a different way of thinking. To get to this new thought pattern, you need the Diffuse mode. In this D i f f u s e mode of thinking, you can look at things broadly from a different, big picture perspective. You can’t focus in as tightly as you often need to, to finalize any kind of problem solving. This Diffuse mode is more relaxed thinking style, and is just as important part of learning. You are either in the Focused mode or the Diffuse mode of thinking. You cannot be in both at the same time. So when you want to learn or study something, you first study it hard by Focusing. Then take a break or at least change your focus to something different for a while. During this time of seeming relaxation, your brain’s Diffuse mode has a chance to work away in the background and help you with your conceptual understanding. Of course, you must plant the seed for your Diffuse mode by first doing Focused mode work. The bottom line is, when you’re learning something new, especially something that’s a little difficult, your mind needs to be able to go back and forth between the two different learning modes. That’s what helps you learn effectively! 📓📖✍🏼🍎📚
Whoa… Today you elaborated on the two different learning modes (Focused vs Diffuse) and the use of Pomodoro Technique! Wowww 👏🏼😎 I learned of these techniques from an online course I took. How remarkable and impressive that you discovered these techniques yourself! I wish for o n e day I could occupy your brain space, just to see how it functions. Would you let me? One day only, Doctor Tany. I promise not to mess anything up in there! Lol. You do sound muffled in this clip. I hope you feel better before your trip back. I just got back from Costco. No one wears masks anymore. The maskers are now the minority. Gonna take my Honey Nap. Be back to comment more later. Sweet slumber ka Doctor Tany Zzz ☁️✨🦋🌛💤
