Love this episode. From the fight between Garf and Elsa to the final few minutes between Ram/Puck and Roswaal, especially the cuts between him and his past with Echidna as Ram threw the book. The studio did an amazing job through and through on this one imo.

They call Emilia "Witches Daughter" yet through genetics we know Satella CANT be her mother. A half elf cant have a Half Elf kid if the father is full elf like Fortuna. So then the mother would have to be Human but also a witch. Well we know lots of other witches exist other than the 1 it CANT be. It def seems like this ep implies heavily that Minerva is Emilia's mother, that was why she didnt want Emilia to look at her and why she was crying holding her. The end of the ep is amazing. Ram's sacrafice to free Roswel hits hard. Roswel's entire world is collapsing around him, what will the man who emerges be?

Although Minerva dying 300 years before Emilia was born definitely doesn't help the case, maybe she just knows her mother since she was also an ancient witch.

Roswaal isnt in the cult, he manipulated the cult to attack the onii village, like how he left the manor in arc 3 and left emilia alone to bait betelguese and his goons to attack so that subaru could grow

3:20 yeah Aaron was right, Vampires in Re:Zero are basically immortal dolls, i think Tappei actually called her a corpse doll at one point, they dont suck blood or disappear in sunlight etc. (then again Elsa is artificially turned into a vampire) the part that was cut out was that elsa was an experiment by some wizard who caught her and did stuff to her, she eventually broke out and killed him spoilers for assassination classroom: Elsa is basically Korosensei, both amazing assassins who were eventually caught and experimented on and allow it to happen instead of escaping then once theyve been made monsters broke out and killed the guys who did it to them and then took on apprentices and mellowed out

However Tappei has said that one of the main witches isn’t human and all evidence points to th witch of sloth sekhmet being an oni like rem and ram

First of all, SO MUCH FORESHADOWING. There's literally so many different ways you can interpret the future memories in how it will happen and why each person is saying what they're saying. On top of that, we getting hints about Minerva being somehow involved in the truth with Emilia's parents, the theory that she's her actual mom is unsurprisingly popular but I really don't see it given the timeframe and certain interactions. Second, hands down the best fight of the series, good reason why it was trending on Twitter. And I always appreciate how it never overemphasized the tragedy in Elsa's backstory and just tells it like it is and show it doesn't excuse her sadistic pleasure. Lastly, the climax at the end with Ram in the explosion after chucking the book made me nut, her insert song really elevated it to new heights too. There's also something to discuss about Ram having Stockholm syndrome.

I believe when she came across echidna’s body in the novel she thinks it might be the witch of greed’s older sister. I could see this and the fact we never saw her face in the flashback as done as a hint that the psychical Echidna and the witch Echidna are different on some metaphysical level or something

They actually show her face in the anime and it is different. Her eyes are higher up on her face. Which is why Emilia didn't recognize her.

Funny moment at the beginning with Subaru trying to use science to win. On its own it’s a funny scene but Subaru’s Japanese voice actor is the same voice actor for senku. Which makes it way better

Ram and Puck vs Roswaal was one of the best fights of the series. An amazing episode. Subaru's science experiment is funny on a meta level, since he and Senku have the same voice actor in Japanese

I'm kinda sad Elsa died. I really liked her a lot but I can see getting rid of her since we still have to deal with the Witch's Cult R.I.P Elsa. Also I really like Ram and Roswaal's conversation. It's very cool how Ram falling in love with Roswaal goes against Roswaal's ideology of people never changing and him living in the past. Very cool. Really enjoying this season hopefully it ends strong.

I don't know why the crew are so adamant that Satella is Emilia's mother when Fortuna exists and most of the historical lore in the show contradicts this (plus defeating the purpose of what she symbolizes regarding Emilia's prejudice), but whatever

I never could've predicted that i would feel bad for Elsa's Death, but this episode demonstrated that it was possible. It's true that she was still a sadistic assassin, but her backstory really explains why she turned out this way, it also seemed like she actually cared for Meili's well being which also helped humanizing her. RIP Elsa. You were a really good Villain.

A little something that may interest you: in a Q&A session, the author confirmed that Elsa was simply born to become the monster we know (and love?): Q: I've arrived fairly late. If Elsa wasn't poor, and grew up normally in a normal home, what kind of girl would she have turned out to be? A: She'd be loved by her parents, develop well along with her friends, awaken somewhere to the beauty of bowels, throw away all of her life up to that point and become a 'Bowel Hunter'. Whether you think this makes sense or not (like me), fact is it's canon.

I still don't think Elsa is DEAD-dead.... yeah, she did not regenerate Garfiel's BITE wound, but that does NOT mean her Regeneration stopped for ALL wounds, and if anyone rolls the RockPiggie BBQ off her splatter pattern, she might still come back.
