Their squadrons are structured with set amounts of people and teams. Even if people get erased from memory, they can tell the people are missing though they'll never remember who.

10:10 Funnily enough, you're right. The past when Wilhem was young is an entire extra novel's worth of content about him along with the Demihuman War, and things introduced in it are referenced so much throughout the entire series that it's almost mandatory for serious fans. There is sooo much stuff in it that's important. Spoilers for the remainder of season 1 below, read if you know what happens. 27:53 Also funnily enough, imo its the complete opposite. Petelgeuse is an unbeatable Sin Archbishop whose in the exact same category as the White Whale. A natural disaster that shows up, completely eviscerates the area he chose, then vanishes into the night like a mirage. The ONLY REASON Petelgeuse was defeated is because of Subaru's existence as someone who can see his Authority, Unseen Hand. If Subaru hypothetically wasn't there, and the people we see currently trying to combat his forces all gang up on him, he slaughters them all then skips away giggling. On the other hand, the White Whale is just a big target with lots of strength and vitality that summons 2 minibosses. It's not easy to beat, but completely possible. I'd argue that defeating Petelgeuse is fundamentally harder, but Subaru is just kind of a walking glitch that can bypass everything with RBD and knowledge of his Authority. Julius is also the perfect martial counter to someone with that kind of ability, barring Reinhard who shouldn't even be mentioned. It's great from a narrative standpoint to end off this epic battle against a 4-century Mabeast, thus making you lower your guard for the NEXT insanely difficult battle in the following few episodes.

Wilhelm and Theresia do have their own story by the way. They have 2 side story volumes dedicated to their story and I believe they are supposed to be getting a 3rd one.

I'm also really sick of people vilifying other whole groups of people that they disagree with. Because, like, how many people would be willing to hear you out if you're always calling them inhuman or monsters or idiots? I can't imagine it's very conducive to real change. Or to put it another way: "If we all keep burning bridges, then nobody can get anywhere."
