Imagine Rem watching Subaru being killed by her, Betty and Ram watching him jump off a cliff to save Rem after the fact, Garfiel watching himself lock Subaru up before killing several villagers from Arlam, Patrasche and Otto, Fredrica watching Subaru wake up to find Petra's arm still clutching on to him and Otto throwing him to the white whale. All of them are going to feel such extreme guilt and Emilia most of all since she's the one he did everything for. Tbh if we're talking mainline Rem she'd probably become suicidal whereas Ram and Betty would become reclusive, I'm not sure what actions the rest would take but Emilia would probably become dedicated to trying to make everything up to Subaru or the trauma would trigger the witch of envy to wake up

This made me think in an existential way just hearing about it pride is a sin but humans we like gratitude for our efforts and then imagining this from Subarus perspective it’s him dying going back in time but in doing so dude dies for others to get a second chance at life essentially as well so then for every friend he has now he has died over and over for with no one truly knowing he literally has died for them not once but repeatedly with no notion for a word of thanks or real clue of not of just his suffering but truly a grasp of what good he’s done to acknowledge his sacrifice(s). Imagine that for yourself the people around you that you actually care for not knowing the full lengths and depths you went in your efforts to help them to really know what you did. Subaru has to set aside part of what makes a human and is forced to not delve so deeply of human pride that is beyond being a martyr as even a martyr that gives their life had belief and pride enough to die for what they believe or cared for. Heck I don’t know if you could call what he does even humility at this point it’s sad it’s like if I had to put it in words a condemned state of silent martyrdom.

Unlike in other fandoms, there are reasons why I think this fic works: 1.: There is a legitimate reason to experience the point of view for the majority of the cast, as this is something Subaru can't talk about, this way they can see why he acts the way he does and better understand him. 2: Others realising this and be put in a position to help him, is a power fantasy in it's own right.

I dont think taippei would want to write a scenario where the cast gets to see HOW subaru suffers, but that he DOES suffer. If subaru ever got the opportunity to reveal it, he wouldn't burden his loved ones with the fact that they killed him, thats completley out of character. I imagine it would be similar to his reveal with Echidna. A reaction fiction feels a bit too self-indulgent. Taippei is an amazing writer, he would find a different way to reveal rbd without a reaction. I mean, if I wanted to see the the side cast of rezero suffer I would write them watching his deaths and let them think that it is their fault for not saving subaru. I personally am not a fan of reaction fanfics, because the only person who should carry the burden of death is the Lolimancer.
