You can check my 60k speedrun video where I try to get 60k as fast as possible with all characters on all stages. It's worth noting you only really need to kill 30 regular enemies during bonus chests and kill the 3 JJs by stunning them with grenades and shotgun headshots, as each JJ is worth 10k each.

Ah so that is why I'm having a hard time with that map, along with Waterworld lol. I find it easier to score higher on the Castle maybe because they spawn more compared to the others. I also have to learn more about the spawns in each map to maximize scores.

Even after i unlocked the handcannon afrer like 100+ tries ( on ps3, ps4, and finally ps5) i unlocked EVERYTHING and i still play mercenaries when i feel a good mood, to beat my scores. MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IS HUNK. Thanks for the guides!

I just recently started playing mercenaries on the ps2 version of re4 and this video has helped out a lot. I've been using Wesker, Krauser and Hunk a lot and I managed to 69k kills on Waterworld with Wesker and then I got 61k kills with Krauser on Island. I've been trying to get 200k kills with Wesker or Krauser.

I have tested and made sure that one message you've delivered in this video is wrong. You do NOT need to avoid killing bosses (such as Bellas) in a Gold Sandglass 30-second Bonus Time. Although when you kill a boss in a bonus combo, it seems you've received only 1,000 pts instead of the boss's regular higher bonus, but as a matter of fact, you still earn the regular higher one. Here's an example, In the barn, I activated the 30-second Bonus Time, killed 9 ganados with the oil barrel, and then killed 2 Bellas as the 10th and 11th combo BEFORE 30 seconds run out. I received 30,700 pts in total. Below is the maths: [300 (Villager Base) + 1,000 (Villager Bonus Time Bonus)] * 9 + [5000 (Bella Base) + 4500 (Bella Combo Bonus for 10th and 11th combo)] * 2 = 30,700 This means in this combo each Bella awarded me 4,500 pts instead of 1,000. So the conclusion is, you do NOT need to avoid killing bosses in a Gold Sandglass Bonus Time combo, as doing so WON'T reduce your bonus. Btw the game I used to test this was the Steam UHD one.

Looking back at the Gold Sandglass bonus for bosses, I found that if the regular combo bonus is less than 1000 (combo less than 3), you receive 1000 instead of the boss's regular bonus. If the combo bonus is higher than 1000 (combo more than 3), you receive the boss's regular higher bonus. Don't trust the HUD, it always rolls up for 1000 pts for each kill, no matter what you kill. Trust the number of points you receive when a combo breaks, that number is always correct.

I've been playing RE4 for more than 15 years. From the pc port with weird buttons and no mouse support + custom 6GB graphics pack to make it look decent, to the HD version. I only tried mercenaries a few times in the beginning, but gave up ever since. Never unlocked the handcannon.

The scoring system is universal for all maps. Killing bosses on any map during the bonus chests will only give you 1,000 bonus points for their kills; whereas a 10+ combo outside the chest will net you 4,500 bonus points per boss.

@@benyang2427 The first Super Salvador can be killed during the chest if you're starting from the tower, it's pointless to try to keep him alive for the sake of 3,500 points. Same for the first JJ generally. The first Garrador should already be dead by the 1st chest though. You can watch some of my high score runs to see how I tackle these cases.

Not 100% understand about the bonus timer. Do you mean once get the bonus timer from the chestbox, then kill mainly lower grade enemies. When that is finished, then kill the bosses?

The bonus chest grants a combo value of 1,000 to regular enemies. However, bosses (after the 9th kill in the combo) get a bonus value of 4,500. So killing a boss during a chest would give less points than killing the boss outside of a chest.

@@ViniZiello Ada is like a HUNK/Wesker mix, so between her TMP and Rifle she should be easy. Aiming with Krauser is tricky, but his melee moves are usually instant-kills, and remember you can use his arm to destroy anything.

There are only 2 Super Salvadores in Waterworld. Your inability to count them does not constitute a mistake on my part. There are 348 enemies on Castle. I literally have a video showing this. If you're going to be so confident, at least do yourself the favour of being right.

Tbh I don't think that people struggle because they don't understand score system. They struggle cuz they suck lol.

Perhaps, but most people just want the handcannon so they don't want to take the time out to learn mercenaries. So they will play in the most difficult way possible for getting 60k. Hopefully by understanding how the scoring system works, they'll be able to at least plan things a little better. It's worth noting that there are plenty of "good" players who struggle to get over 150k on any stage precisely because they aren't using the bonus chests/combos effectively.
