You had to have played this game back in 2005 to really understand how groundbreaking it was. Dead Space, Gears of War and The Last of Us all clearly took inspiration of RE4.

IDK, the Ashley parts in the original never bothered me. There were very few situation when it was an issue. And in this game, she is just an asset, since every time an opponents picks her up, you can just get a free back instant kill, with some invincibility frames.

To be fair Ashely doesn’t use health items anymore found her way easier to look over this time. With the use of lockers she was able to sit out fights like the chainsaw sisters making it way easier.

The Mercenaries mode was in og Re4, Re5, and Re6. So it's good that they kept Mercenaries for the Re4 Remake as well, just Ada and Wesker are missing, which will be added later apparently. Also Jeremy, maybe you should listen to Ada's voice from the original Re2 or Re4 again, or even Resident Evil Damnation and you'll see why some fans are upset. But i agree harassing a voice actor is never ok.

I *heavily* disagree with the "Ashley is the worst escort AI in video game history" statement. Her 2 movement settings "loose" or "tight" are pretty reliable. if you can kill every enemy around you and you aren't surrounded, keep her close with the "tight" command. If you're surrounded and need her to try and get away from a heap of enemies, choose the "loose" command. In my experience, throughout my 2 playthroughs, she manages to avoid enemies really well. She rarely even gets kidnapped and when she does, it's pretty damn easy to get her back. She even helps Leon fight enemies on multiple occasions, like in the castle area when you fight against a whole bunch of knights. She throws those blue lanterns at said knights, allowing Leon to kick their helmets off. She even kill a regenerador near end-game by dropping the bridge when it tries to run across. That's a lot more than 99% of other hostage AI's could ever do 😂 "All she does is get kidnapped => saved => kidnapped => saved => kidnapped => saved". True, but what do you expect her to do bro? Throw fuckin' Haymakers at the villagers? She'd break her hand before they even stumble backwards, those fuckers can take bullets to the skull without issue lmao. Giving her a knife or gun would help, but as we all now it's a videogame and we can't have nice things. Even her personality and overall behavior in the story and dialogue are just kind-hearted and far from annoying, she's much more likeable in the remake than in the OG (which doesn't say much,) but STILL, my point still stands lol That being said, this review is indeed factual and I agree with most things, I'm not trying to start an "Ashley-Stan" hate brigade against people 😂😂

I guess you read these comments. Anyways I told you I would get back to you on the RE 4 remake. I only played 4 chapters so far. I have to say that this remake is a whole lot better than the original game. The gameplay, story & graphics are a whole lot better. I love the fact that you can stealth kill 1 shot with the knife & perry with that. The storage system is a lot better where you can automatically have that organized with a press of a button. The Merchant you buy stuff from has more options you can do like trading & repairing the knife. I didn't get to Ashley yet. I am playing this on assisted the easiest mode & so far it's a lot easier than the original easy mode. The only thing I don't like in this game are the puzzles. I find them really annoying to solve & do. This game is way better than the original.

The only things I disagree with u was just Ashley’s character I felt they improved her character a lot, and that’s coming from someone who’s played the original at least 100 times. She wasn’t as annoying, she didn’t have a health bar, and she was genuinely pretty likable. And yea I agree with u that the Resident Evil games are not known for having great voice acting, but the thing with Ada’s voice is that the voice acting in the RE4 remake was good, like Leon, Ashley, and Luis, and her just sticks out more like sore thumb. Otherwise great review.

Personally, my pros and cons for the game Pros - Gunplay and upgrade system is amazing, parrying is a badass mechanic too - Leon as a character was handled way better, he’s more militant and hardened after the events of RE2, and genuinely feels more heroic - The sound design is top-tier, really spooky atmosphere 24/7 - Enemy design is top notch both mechanically and art-wise - Love the upgrade to all the characters compared to the OG, especially Luis & Krauser! - Ashley in particular I loved her more story-wise. She really goes through it in this game, when she’s scared or in agony you can tell the voice actress put in work. I believed Ashley when she was afraid, terrified, hopeful, overall really well done Cons - Not a huge fan of the boss fights - The VA doesn’t deserve harassment, but Jesus Christ Ada’s VA was so bad… not just the performance, but the script and direction was pretty lackluster too imo - I agree some areas felt weirdly TOO action-packed. It felt like playing DOOM 2016 at times. Not even sure if that’s a bad thing, but it’s definitely jarring compared to the OG. This game felt less “survival” horror and more action-based. I feel like they could have balanced it a bit better in that regard. Overall, solid 9/10 for me. Can’t wait to see what the VR version has to offer in the future!

I beat RE 4 remake on Assisted. My time was 20 hrs 53 min 27 sec a Rank of B. You can't carry over a saved file to get a S ranking. You have to play a whole new game it says to do that. Final thoughts, The Last boss is really good along with the ending. If you never played the original Resident Evil 4, just play this game. Buy all the DLC to make it easier on yourselves when you do play this, just play this the 1 time. Cuz again the puzzles will greatly take away from this game play.

@@TheGamer2323 I'm like you in that I was never as big into four like other re fans . I prefer five more honestly. But this remake is the four I wanted back then . It's action horror still but more survival horror elements. Crafting , knife durability, parries ,it's alot of shit to keep up with that make it tense and great . So overall if I'm judging it I say a 9 like yourself . Top three re games to me is re2, re4, and I gotta put respect on the original re remake .

I guess you didn't play Golden eye for the N64. Natalia would be the worst escort character in video game history. As she dies a lot in that game making you fail the levels you have to beat. You gave this a 9/10??? I don't know if I can do that since the puzzles in this game are really annoying, complex & hard to solve on your own. I had to look up every puzzle on youtube to solve them. The puzzles make a huge part of the game play. You can't ignore them in this game. Even though the game play, sorting system etc are a lot better than the original, the puzzles are a huge negative in this making this game not fun at all. For those of you who have never played this remake before, I suggest buying the DLC for this to make the gameplay better. Buy the Gold Cache, The treasure map & the weapon tickets as you need to max out your things to 5. Be prepared to look on youtube for every puzzle solution in this. Play on Assisted as well.
