Even if accidentally, he killed his daughter himself and that too when he was intentionally murdering other innocents also with families present in that temple. It’s only after their deaths that Kratos realized how wrong he was in blindly murdering people when Ares commanded him to. In this scene, Ethan’s more shocked and horrified if anything on learning that someone else would do that to his child.

People forget about Jake, Sherry and the girl Leon and Krauser saved(I doubt they're going to introduce her in the future). Adding Rose, we will have a new set of protagonist. If Rose is trained under Chris' supervision. Then she is the most dangerous B.O.W up to date. Hell, Umbrella trying to achieve that; a B.O.W that retains its humanity and intelligence. I fear that Chris, Jill and Leon(high possibility because of vendetta) might retire in the near future. We might get the chance to see Rebecca again since she is in the R&D and wants to eradicate the biowarfare by producing vaccines. Rose' condition might catch her interest.

RE games have always dropped characters and plotlines. Remember the Hunk fakeout that he was Chris in Revelations original plans? How Carlos, Billy, and the myriad of other characters are dropped?
