clarification: 1- MIA DID NOT DIE. She got cured in re7, so she's still alive and well. 2-Ethan died in re7's beginning, when jack stomped his head. 3- When Ethan died, the mold took over his body, reviving him granting inhumane healing abilities(as you can see countless times in re7 and re8). Sort of like Marvel's Venom, although im not sure if venom died in some point of the comics/films. 4- The mold is natural to village. it got BROUGHT over to the USA when eveline got out of control, when she re-adjusted her ship's course to the nearest shore (in this case the baker's house in louisiana). 5- The snow segment that eveline tells ethan he's dead is ethan's dream. He dreams of this while unconscious after miranda attempts to kill him. But like i said, ethan has inhuman healing abilities, so he didnt die from miranda's attack. i hope that helps

But my assumption would be that eveline wouldnt want to outright kill ethan/make him insane because he's related to mia, and mia is very close to eveline, probably her only friend at the time she spent aboard the ship. i'll look that up later

The victim's conscience still remains, but they cant control their body, as evident from Leonard, elena's father, when he went after elena even when he got transformed by the mold. Ethan is an exception though, because his infection isnt as grave as others, so he still acts human, but with certain traits the mold gave to him. I doubt that a lycan or any of the 4 lords sleep, since they were the most affected by the mold.

Well let's be honest during cutscenes and time sequences the RE characters tend to dodge or atleast do their very best to not get hit or Injured. Ethan in the other hand who is literally just an ordinary man gets cut up, stabbed, beaten and hell he doesn't have the reflexes the main roster does. But what does he have? Really, really fucking good regenerative abilities. And probably some decent pain tolerance? Plus healing water

Seems to be a fair few confused in this comment section so - Ethan was killed by Jack in Re7 after his first encounter with Mia after finding her before she fell under Evelines influence and attacked him. During his fight with Mia , Ethan would have been infected with the mold which allowed him to be resurrected and granted him the regeneration like abilities we see after Jack caved his head in killing Ethan following the fight with Mia. Therefore for the three or so years Ethan has been dead but almost made immortal due to bonding with the mold and being in a sense kept alive as a result. He’s essentially a walking super zombie in where his body has been taken over by the mold. Ethan was also never cured but had Eveline stayed alive , Ethan would have eventually succumbed to her influence and become just like the bakers / pre cured Mia.

I think what's different between them is that Eveline infected Mia with the mold which kept her from dying properly due to the regenerative factors, whereas Ethan got the mold after he died which brought him back, but was replacing itself with more mold as his body was still slowly deteriorating in order to keep himself together. Therefore, Mia has never really been dead, compared to Ethan.

For those who are in question. Tldr; Human Ethan Winters was killed therefore dead and resurrected by Eve in the beginning of the RE7, but Mia was not dead and was cured from the infection. Mutamycete's structure is like a hard drive it will store consciousness of host it consumed as stated by Miranda's research. That's how Eveline supposed to work as a BOW in RE7(A controllable hive mind BOW), conversation with Jack, Zoe in dream state in RE7 was the proof of that Eve's mutamycete's hive mind connection. Ethan seeing Rose's vision while inserting Flasks into the Giant Charlice in RE8 is also the same scenario.

That's the reason he has will of own, so we know that symbiote helps him to heal according to his consciousness, but I wanna add one more thing to this - in re8 Mia told Chris that "you don't understand how special he is" So i believe she was talking about ethan's control over mold, unlike others ie the mold controlled their brain and body but in ethan's case it can only control his body not his consciousness.

chris doesnt see victims as monsters unless they are out of control , when you see him in RE6 trying to rescue his friend so hard even that he got half mutated , even little rose after getting her saved , got whole again and came back to life yet he dont see her as a monster , thats why he ignored ethan and mia provideing them with a decent life watchin from far distance ... the baker father said : eve gave them her gift , it may means that every gift differs from another according to the body and person , so it doesnt matter if some of that power is still there as long as it not a threat

Theoretically Evelyn killed the entire family, jack kills Ethan so basically she actually killed two birds with one stone but multiple of birds. Mother miranda created eve while she worked for the connections and mia was eves babysitter when the ship crashed in the bayou but mia was only under eves influence and still human while ethan died and became mold ethan in RE7 then miranda kidnapped mia in village and took her place as her daughter rose winters was the perfect vessel to bring her dead daughter eva back and while playing as chris redfield you find the real mia locked in a cage in miranda's laboratory and chris finds out ethan is mold and also ethan see eveline in a dream after miranda rips his heart out.

Maybe the mold hasn't exploded completely, or that is just a sample of it and not the whole mold and Ethan is still alive, so we didn't see Ethan's complete end as the explosion was delayed after Ethan activated the bomb, at the end of the game we saw the car in which Rose was riding and that person whom Alex thought had stopped And a strange man turned towards them, perhaps Ethan did not appear for years, given the age of Rose from a baby to a teenager, many years have passed, and the mold that was left revived it again, maybe Mia had died. She did not appear with Rose at Ethan's grave, these were my expectations, Many questions have no answers, puzzles has no solutions and doors have no keys. Mia is real. That’s the real Mia that you see. She got cured by Ethan at the end of RE7. Ethan was killed by Jack in the beginning and turned into a mold, as he had become infected. So when he wakes up at the dinner table that isn’t him, it’s the mold that has taken over him. However he still has his mind and personality, making him special.

So basically, after Ethan dies in the Baker house Eveline saw that as like another host and decided to repair his dead body, like a side experiment. Hence the reason why Eveline is in his head. So Ethan is pretty much apart of Eveline but with his own conscience. Which is also the reason why that dude called Rose "Eveline" at the end, because she has the same mold DNA that eveline gave to Ethan. Wonder if she can start a generation of mold people. Also, I wonder if that FED at the end will be a special character in the next game. How the heck did he know that Rose is "just like him", he gave a weird stare to eveline but also looks like he's staring down the camera. Idk it'll be funny if he's just for random dialogue ...or maybe he's supposed to be the dude Ethan talks to on the phone in the beginning of Biohazard? That would be kinda cool.
