I have one on the shelf... originally intended to install when I replaced the front sprocket, but it got in late, so I shelved it as I wanted to see the sprocket upgrade by itself and didn't want to waste my fresh oil. Vibration is not too bad on Badger as it is, so I didn't make it a priority - so I'm happy seeing you put it on and what the results are on the on road test. If worth it, I might have a go - next oil change (which won't be that long as I clock an average of 500 km per week) :)

Im really keen to see how it works, at least it reduces flex and wear and tear. It will be intetesting to see how much it reduces vibration as doug doesnt vibrate much either.

Hi I have been running the C reduce vibe plate on mine for around 10 weeks. I found anything over 80k it makes a difference of around 25% to 30% also have grip buddies and a 19 tooth front sprocket. I now cruise the expressways at 110k with no problems at all and can maintain that speed all day my fingers no longer become numb. Like yourself I also run the small screen and maintain at that speed I seem to cut the air with no helmet buffering so much better.

After I'd fitted a Hitchcocks alloy (not steel) Carberry plate to my 2020 500, according to my hands vibration between idle and 30 mph was a lot less; at 40mph it felt like the old 30mph and at 50mph it felt like the old 40mph. I got well caught out on some of my favourite corners because I was hitting them way above the usual approach speed! Above about 55mph there wasn't really any difference compared to previous. It was worth it. I've seen videos that say it's a waste of time and money, but in about 90% of those the inner bearing ring was not tapped up to locate hard on the crankshaft. I suspect that you may not read the instructions fully because if you had, it tells you to put the inner bearing ring on first and make sure it is gripped by the crankshaft (tapped on - that's what the white tube was for) before putting the plate on. For the magneto centre nut; make sure the bike is in gear before starting the job and hang a bloody great weight (in my case, a 14lb grocers weight with a ring on top) off the brake pedal to lock the back wheel.
@iRidetas5 күн бұрын
Read the instructions just fine. Still had issues with the supplied tube not working as stated or fitting over the crank shaft, But as in the video i got it on and had basically the same results as you. Worked really well! Several testing videos after this one that show it in action.
@daigriffiths3995 күн бұрын
@@iRidetas Many thanks for the response. I did loop round part of the video multiple times but I could never pin down the exact place where you pushed the inner bearing ring on. Maybe I just missed it, but that was what prompted my comment.

Looking forward to seeing the ultimate results. However, one thing that prevents me from getting the plate is the reports on it not working, but more worryingly the reports on bearing failure as the bearing supplied is not rated for the maximum RPM a UCE 350 or 500 can rev up to. In any circumstance, you want a bearing that's over rated. That's a recipe for disaster in my book.
@iRidetas4 жыл бұрын
True but that 5000 rpm its not like its 19000 rpm like my mc19 so surely the bearing is rated for that. We will see. Cheers buddy
@whatsstefon4 жыл бұрын
@@iRidetas except, folks are saying the bearing is rated for 4000RPM. That's the scary part when you look up the bearing they're using.
@Walt_G4 жыл бұрын
@@iRidetas have you checked what bearing is in it and what RPM it is rated for yourself? I'm looking forward to seeing the results you get on a ride.
@frankysworld4 жыл бұрын
This seems to be indeed a topic of discussion and some people have contacted Hitchcock's about it. Reply from Hitchcocks - They did contact Carberry, "who are not concerned about the speed rating in this application. The reasoning being that the listed 4700 revs is for constant work, eg electric motors. There is a safety factor built in to this and exhaustive testing has proved the bearing to be reliable." They (Hitchcocks) add that having been supplying these for 11 months, "as yet no one has brought to our attention of a bearing failure and there are a few of our customers who have some very high mileages on them. Carberry have been supplying them for considerably longer than we have and reports the only bearing failures they are aware of - are early failures caused by poor fitting. To which they now supply an alignment tool to help prevent this."

Well I attempted to install the Carberry on my Classic 500 and messed up bigtime!! First, I had to remove the foot peg, rear brake pedal and exhaust! After using a gear puller, I removed the magnito (stator?) and failed to secure the small key that keeps it secure on the shaft! It dropped out and fell somewhere! I can't reassemble the engine without it! It's on order from India!! I was told it "takes a while"! I was also told ordering the part would void my warranty; since I opened the engine case. 😥

The piece of piping is for the correct installation of the plate. People who purchased the plate were having issues with it due to wrong installation. In order for it to be properly installed, one should: -Put the plate and bearings (without spring) in place without placing the screws -Then the alignment tool in the chanel present in the bearings -After that, You tighten the washerand nut in order to apply pressure on the alignment tool Now the plate should be properly aligned Once the Plate is correctly aligned: -Install all the screws -Remove nut and alignment tool -Proceed with installation as seen on your video I´ve installed as above stated and no problems whatsoever. I was experiencing some strong vibrations before changing the plate and upgrading to a 19T sprocket, now those vibrations are gone. Hope it helps Yesqui Ray
