Very informative and detailed video! No need to ask any questions after seeing this one. And coincidently, I just got a text 2 minutes ago telling that there's someting to pick up at the local post office: 1 Carberry plate, 2 Hitchcock's head steadies - and of course 2 of those o-rings 😁 According to Warro, 2 head steadies instead of one will also reduce vibrations. Worth a try, maybe you'd try yourself?

Really well explained. I got a little glazed over when you got to adjusting backlash. I have been considering getting a RE Interceptor, simply because highway vibrations on my (much loved) 500 C make any more than a 30minute ride at 60MPH hand and foot numbing. This plate might make the difference... I'm just not sure I have the tools or skills to install it. What are you doing this weekend! (ha)

The vibration reduction plate will definitely make a difference in vibrations at highway speeds, as would the 19 tooth front sprocket. As for installation, it's pretty straight forward. You can do it. -Madd Man

@@BradTheMaddMan Does the 19 tooth sprocket lower RPM at speed? I've always thought that the 500 could use a taller final drive ratio with it's good torque and mediocre horsepower. Where Can I get such a thing? Also, Thanks for the vote of confidence!

After I bought the Carberry jumbo disc,I’ll never buy anything of theirs. The rotor was junk. It was horribly warped beyond repair. Looked like it was made with a file. They asked for photo proof. I showed them with a caliper and they stopped responding. Never again.

Well I attempted to install the Carberry on my Classic 500 and messed up bigtime!! First, I had to remove the foot peg, rear brake pedal and exhaust! After using a gear puller, I removed the magnito (stator?) and failed to secure the small key that keeps it secure on the shaft! It dropped out and fell somewhere! I can't reassemble the engine without it! It's on order from India!! I was told it "takes a while"! I was also told ordering the part would void my warranty; since I opened the engine case. 😥

Yes there is. I had the side cover off before to replace the drive sprocket with the 19 tooth variant and reused the gasket then. This time, I replaced it. -Madd man

Is it to quieting down the running noise or to ensure the valve clearance is correct or something else I'm missing? I get my 2018 C500 in a month and really looking forward to doing this upgrade. Received my Carberry plate in & it arrived with an "installation tool", pvc pipe with a glued washer on one end, still haven't figured how bearing misalignment is an issue & not completely sure how to "properly" use this pvc "tool", there are a couple of pics but they're not too explanatory, any thoughts?

The tool is more than like to seat the bearing on the shaft. Place the toll over the bearing and tap it with a hammer. -Madd Man

I don't know how to really explain this, but I have read that this device can/will send the vibrations back up through the motor and cause damage. Do you think this is what caused some or all of your problems? It makes no sense that your RE would have had an almost complete and total failure as it did? I was going to buy a new bullet, but after what happened to your bike I thought other wise. Sad, I really like the bike.

I usually change the gasket every second to third time the cover is removed. Pretty much, if it doesn't rip, go with it. But, I absolutely WOULD change the oil pump O-Ring every single time. -Madd Man

I can understand that. It sounds like the pullers you got back damaged were abused. A puller should never be hit that hard (Although, I have witnessed it), if a few firm taps do not pop the part loose, add heat, tighten and tap again. It will give. -Madd Man
