Anyone else curious about how much Reacher's pension checks are? I keep wondering why he lives such a wandering hobo existence. Once you hit at least 20 years in the Army [as a Major - his rank] your monthly salary is $9210/month or about $110K annually. If you stay in for 40 years and retire, you'd keep the entire amount as your pension, but if you retired at around 20 you'd keep about half that. And he's still a young guy, and I don't know if he retired with any medical issues so he must make at least about $50k a year. That's at least enough for a somewhat decent apartment and used car, right???

I hear what you're saying about the level of fear you have for, say, Dixon and O'Donnel versus Finlay and Roscoe. I think a reason for that - beyond what the actors bring, coz think they're all great - might be a bit subconscious. Finlay and Roscoe were very capable. Very capable. And I loved that. But... they were cops. Finlay was from Boston, sure, but when we meet him, he's head Detective in frikkin Margrave, and Roscoe had been there all her life. What the fight at the end demonstrated, and why I appreciated it, is that is showed how these Special Investigators have a skillset that matches Reacher. They don't match his size and aggression, maybe, but that's all. They were all soldiers. They've all been under fire many times and approach deadly situations with the extreme confidence that they're going to win. And that transfers to us, the audience. It lowers the peril.
@robwright894911 ай бұрын
In the opening diner scene, I thought sure John would yell out, "Jack Reader!" TBH, I really enjoy the Reacher puns. The worse, the better, for me. The ridiculousness of a pun that doesn't actually work is hysterical! Maybe it's just me

I just think you guys MIGHT not be forming the same attachments to the other team members that you think you should because the plot doesn't WANT you to? Maybe they're just not that important, overall? In the first season, we got near immediate feels for Roscoe, Finlay and Neagley; and they were our core cast through the season. But there were a ton of other background characters that were part of the team but weren't THAT big of a deal for various reasons. Picard, Hubble and his wife, Joe's contact at Homeland, Molly Beth...they contribute and we move along with them in the story to different degrees, but they're ultimately fodder and/or red herrings. This season has a LOT more characters in Reacher's corner to focus on. It would be almost impossible to put the same amount of interaction, characterization and attention on each of these folks, and still focus on the complicated plot you guys keep mentioning. And ultimately, if they're only going to be around for THIS season, maybe that's fine? They give us ENOUGH to like or relate to, as they can.
