@@andreaso8886 Not really that long ago, it wasn't uncommon for shows to have well over 20 episodes. Some of the older ones like Gun Smoke had nearly 40 episodes per season. Soap operas like Guiding light had over 250 episodes per season, and people stayed glued to the screen for those. It has nothing to do with what they can accomplish in a year and still maintain quality.

The first season was FANTASTIC, the second one is lousy and a diluted WOKE version. Both Tom Cruise movies and the first season were great because it was simply Reacher doing his thing. This second season is a "Team movie" heavy on the independent strong woman recipe. His love interest is not beautiful and pretty like Willa Fitzgerald in the first season (she was too blonde and too white for woke) the one now is average looking and the audience never connects with her, she is not desirable and seductive like Willa was. This second season is heavy on talking between each other trying to draw conclusions where before that was Reacher's job. Just a big disappointment, if the formula was working just fine WHY DID THEY HAVE TO CHANGE IT ?? we liked the Reacher movies and First season just the way they were.

It's always good to watch a recap/review. I think it's a cracking show but also a bit complicated to follow so thanks for your work. I read all the books, I believe, although it was a long time ago. So there might be clues there but I can't remember each book in detail. That's good because I really don't want to spoil it for myself. However, it's possible the adaption won't follow the book faithfully. Great work. I can't wait for the next episodes.

It has definitely broken from the books so far in two ways, one I know for sure that this story in the book takes place in LA and second I don't believe Reacher and Dixon hookup in the book(I could be wrong on this one though) but they did in the show, so there definitely seems to be come differences so far.

I re-read the book a few weeks ago as i a) wanted to remind myself of the story Series 2 is based on and b) see just how closely (or not) the TV production would follow it. I am delighted they have made series 2 and are already committed to series 3 but confess series 2 hasn't grabbed me as much as series 1 did. I can't put my finger on it but there doesn't seem to be the same chemistry as we had between the characters in the first series. Still enjoying it, though, and looking forward to episode 4 and those that follow on.

"it's possible the adaption won't follow the book faithfully"... That's putting it mildly! First off... the story occurs in LA and Vegas, NOT NY and Atlantic City! I thought the whole LA 'vibe' was important to the story. When I read they were adapting it to the East coast, I was skeptical. While ANY Reacher show is GREAT... WHY did they put it on the East coast? The important plot about getting dropped out of a helicopter into the DESERT was very important! OH, and in answer to another poster... Dixon and Reacher DID hookup in the book!

Is it me or have they dumbed down Reacher a little bit this season? I think they did that to showcase his team and their special skills. But Reacher would have realized those number were dates much sooner. Even though he uses brute force but the way he has been doing it in this season lacks logic and strategy. He is a very strategic dude. And episode 3 he just told a cop that he killed people. And the scene with the gun shop owner was ridiculous.

In the book he struggled a bit with the numbers until Dixon said something that triggered an epiphany. But IIRC, he also figured out the numbers were dates pretty quickly. Also, in the books, it was pretty obvious that the death of Franzy and learning about how much he did not know about his former teammates had Reacher off his game.

I loved season 1 but in season 2 so far there is a couple things that are really ridiculous that I just can’t overlook. 1. Wet concrete at the Atlantic City job site in the middle of the night. 2. Reachers lady partner beating up a guy 2.5 times larger than her. Both being impossible.

it's less ridiculous than season one where Reacher getting overpowered by those skinny little rednecks. one of those little asshole almost drowned him in a pool if i remember correctly. Also his partners are train Soldiers there's that going for it. lastly on that fight she was using a rebar as a weapon no matter how big you are if you get by a piece of metal it's going to hurt... and that dude was not 2.5 bigger than her and that fight wasn't a contest of strength it was woman hitting someone with a freaken rebar. As for the wet concrete you can say that they poured it too late and left it overnight to dry it's not that hard to believe.

Other than switching the setting from the LA area to the NY area, they're following the book pretty closely. Don't know why they did that as the southern CA setting worked well. No spoilers other than to say the future season 2 episodes will be good.

My theory: Jimmi Simpson will show up in episode 5 to help his buddy Gaitano (Domenick Lombardozzi) and save Reacher and Dixon (Serinda Swan) from the real bad guy of the season, Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell and then we cut to credits but it's Reacher/Breakout Kings. (Remember, Malcolm Goodwin played both Finlay in season 1 of Reacher and Shea Daniels in Breakout Kings.)

We don't have that happening here, so I don't know what they try to achieve as the cat & mouse game is only for us to watch, but we already (think) we know everything. Season Two is a disappointment. Do they really think that cement at an unoccupied construction site would be wet enough to submerge several bodies? Do they believe an airport bathroom would be unoccupied and a man could start a fire to burn his passport? And more. The O’Donnell guy- intro is suspicious, he doesn’t make eye contact, he is the one who begins to make Reacher question his stance on swann while learning O’Donnell is a changed man. O’Donnell is nowhere to be found and says nothing after Reacher is picked up by Senate staff. He is familiar with blackmail and the DC scene and oddest of all, just before the fight with the biker gang, he looks through the back window of the suv at what we can assume is someone tailing them yet says nothing about it while every other special investigator has pointed out people tailing them. Hope it’s not true but hey…who knows.

This second season has a lack of details and is kind of bad. Around the time they are soldiers the details take you out the series. For example for being a Gun ho Major his uniform looks like shit. Like he took it out the bottle. No shaving profile. Their are laundries in the Army. The other Major has only 4 ribbons and all of them are wrong. Nobody follows regulations with the uniforms. Sleeve up or down. Enlisted in the officers club. This sucks big time.😂

I love reacher and the whole vibe of the character, the freedom he has but with the cost of loneliness. I had a problem with the fucking concrete bricks that did not even break when the guy fell on them, those where so unrealistic and also that this season hits with a lot of verbal explanaitions quick and sneaky, you really need to be listening.

The only critic I have on Amazons Reacher is the lack of his numberphile thinking. He and Dixon are more or less the same, their only difference in case of numbers are, Dixon thinks more about financials and knows much more about it. Otherwise, Alan Ritchson (beside he looks too good) is amazing 🙂

Dixon for sure will be a double agent. She mentions she is undercover which isn't a lie so no one in the team will pick up on it. She just isn't honest that she's undercover to take their team down. Literally all of the dialogue is exposition dialogue- no nuance to these characters, if you can actually call them characters. They are forcing contrived, ludicrous scenarios to accommodate action scenes. Much like the second Reacher film, this has become Reacher by committee- Reacher along with all his little Reachers. In fact, his co horts are largely putting the pieces together, leaving Reacher to do- well not much; This Reacher is more brawn than brains. This season is not much different than standard major network crime fare.

This season is just not as well rounded as season 1 feel that the supporting cast is weak and the violence one particular scene uneccesary (Torture Scene) . I am not sure if I am interested in watching anymore as this is typical problem like The Punisher when the big bad is the Miltary .

I just saw the first three episodes and wow! The guys even bigger than he was the last time. All natural no CGI may be a little Roids, so I’m not gonna say he’s 100% natty. It’s basically a murder mystery. He’s getting the gang back together. The fight choreography is top notch. I’m not really familiar with the lead actors work. I know he was on that terrible Titans TV show which I refuse to watch after the first if you Batman line. Speaking of which, this guy would’ve made the perfect Batman. The Jack reacher character. The way it’s presented in this TV show has some of the same qualities that Batman is supposed to have in the comic books. Not only that the way the team, a.k.a. the special investigators interact with one another definitely reminds me of the Batman family. Whoever the show runner is on the show should definitely consider applying for the job directly to James Gunn. Of course, there’s no telling how long the show is going to air. It’s very good and I could see you sticking around for at least three or four seasons that is if it maintains this level of quality.

The first three episodes are a mess Reacher does not have to be across between James Bond and John Wick..leave all the fancy shit for his cast mates and let Reacher simply be Reacher.
