Candidly - having seen the B&W version - I don't think the colourisation does it any favours ? Simple as that ! This *Talkie* is sensational for all other reasons: Top-class Actors, exemplary Camera work, and superb direction ! Thanks, Simon Ward, for being so kind and magnanimous to share it, and taking us back to the Chromium-plated Art Deco Days of Hollywood, before everything was dashed and sunk in Pearl Harbour with the predictable changes that such conflicts bring; the first Big Show (1914-18), having destroyed European The Age of Opulence, and introduced first Marxist-Trotskyism Communism and then Nazism to a naive , COVID-style, suckered world, by such characters as we see Larry addressing at at the beginning of this fabulous movie ! For my money, the best part of this movie is the emergence of a very young Bing Crosby singing a jazz number, as if he were a musical instrument, as distinct from just a crooner ! He is nothing short of cool and brilliant !
