In central Finland, a neighbor had a Finnish greyhound. Sometimes that dog was so far away that after we stopped hunting it was nowhere to be found. The dog's owner left his scarf hanging on the fence post. And when he came back later, the dog was lying next to the pole where the scarf was hanging.

No way... Lokka.. 😢.. I was fishing up there in the early the 1980:s. It's a massive dammed lake. I still remember these fishing boats that came to the harbour and these fishes that they had catched where massive and their boats where filled up to the top with them. My father still have these pictures that he took of their catch. We ended up buying some fish from these men, because we wanted to continue our way and not stay for a longer period of time as we planned. We grilled and smoked some of that fish in the evening and ate them later on that evening.. We where out fishing and camping for a week and drove around to trough different places in the Finnish Lapland. It was our family and a couple of my fathers brother toghether with their families... I can still so vividly remember that the weather was as ominous as it seem to be for you guys. I was so afraid of that place (I where just about 6 years old) because of the the weather and because you could still see some of trees that had ended up being flooded to some degree, but some of them stood in the middle of nowhere out in that massive lake. We had to drive so gently with our small boats, because these trees could still be standing, so you barely could see the tip of that tree top just below the waterline... So we ended up buying some fishes from these fishermen, that had got them by using fishing nets. We decided to continue our trip, instead of stay there for as long as we had planned in the beginning . All we children was whining and complaining about all these huge "B52 Stratofortress" and some of these smaller and more agile "P38 Lightning" typed mosquitoes. They where attacking us so furiously, so somebody decided to hit that air attack alarm. like your relatives had to do during the "Battle of Britain".

Hi guys, been subscribed to you since my accident back in June and loving your videos being a big adventure rider myself. Want to say well done on marking out the pot hole as I'm living proof of what can happen. Yes back in June on one of the last lanes of the day having done the peaks I was travelling along a pretty easy byway on my ktm 1290 and two pot holes ahead with water in, second one unfortunately was 2 ft deep and boom that was me sky high. Landed on my left hip and shattered my pelvis 😢 nearly 4 weeks in hospital. So yes we'll done and I'll be sure to keep an eye out for it when I get o er there. It wood be nice to have you as a subscriber on my channel 😂.

Just a respectful message to say that Lapland is an old term for the land and often seen as problematic or disrespectful nowadays. Instead the native Sámi people use the word Sápmi (sap-mee) as the name of the land. Thanks for sharing, it's an amazing route you're taking! 🙏
@arcticr4 ай бұрын
Great video, as always ! I might be wrong, however my understanding is that that the use of Sapmi to describe the land is much wider then your description suggests. Sapmi is the historical region of the Sami people and consists of the northern part of Finland, Sweden, Norway and a fourth country “preliminary disqualified from mentioning”… The southern part of Sapmi starts well south of the Arctic Circle “at least in Norway” and ends at Nordkapp. Please do correct me if my understanding is totally wrong 🤗
@MotoBetty4 ай бұрын
@@arcticr Yes that's correct. The name for this land that covers four countries Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia is Sápmi which used to be called Lapland, which is now considered pejorative. In Norway historically it was called Finnmǫrk, Sweden it was Lappland, and I think Finland was Lappi. But it's better to call it Sápmi now and shows respect to the Sámi people.
