Reaching the Halfway Point (Appalachian Trail 2023)

Day 87- Ensign Cowall Shelter (mile 1057.2) to Rocky Gap Shelters (mile 1082.2)
Day 88- Rocky Gap Shelters (mile 1082.2) to Stealth Site (mile 1106.4)
Hikers sometimes attempt the “half gallon challenge” at Pine Grove Furnace State Park where they attempt to eat a half gallon of ice cream. I do not handle dairy the greatest so I decided not to attempt this challenge.

I am sorry that your camping plans did not work out. I teared up when you reached the halfway point. So excited and in awe. I know you're frustrated you're behind, but those lungs and those legs got you to hike almost 50 miles in TWO days. When you started, could you have imagined? You have accomplished a lot. Be proud. You were hiking through my stomping grounds. High Rock is one of the locals party spots and Calidonia is where I have been going for 50 years,it’s a very nice campground/park with a nice pool.
