I don't think you have either. There was only like a couple times that Superman lost to Batman, one of those two is strongly considered non-canon. Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure there have been like seven comic stories where Batman lost to Superman. Of course he did, it's unlikely for a bat-themed guy with no powers to beat a guy with a bunch of powers. It's a no-brainer. A REAL matchup would be Superman vs Iron Man, Dr Strange, or Son Goku.

I personally loved BVS. People upset with the ending to the fight aren't thinking about the meaning behind the scene. Batman didn't stop because his mother had the same name as Superman. He stopped because he realized that Superman - even though he was from another planet- was just a person. Who had a mother just like him and everyone else in the world. He realized that they weren't that different after all. He realized that despite his power... He was in many ways a human being.

I think what upset me wasn't Batman stopping when superman said Martha. He's obviously not over a tramatic event that shaped him. But for superman to call his mother by her first name, superman who was raised by a proper farm family. That's what was off

Another way to interpret that scene is when Bruce holds the spear he realizes that in that position he became Joe Chill. In a way that he was about to make a kid lose his mother because of his actions. In that moment HE became the villain.

In defense of Batman vs Superman, a constant memory that's repeated in Bruce's memories was his father saying "Martha." Bruce, for all his life, has believed that he could have saved his parents from the murderer, and what does Kal say? *"Save Martha."* As if he was telling Batman that he had another chance--a chance to get his family back. Clark didn't specify that his mother was named Martha, he just simply said *"Martha... Save Martha."* Only after Lois begged and pleaded did Bruce realize, he's gone too far, the fact that Superman, an alien, not only had a mother, but a mother of the same name, humanized him. At this moment, Bruce saw himself in Kal. Bruce was about to be the murderer in Crime Alley, he was holding back Superman from saving his mother--he forced Clark into the position Bruce had as his family was taken from him. He didn't want to become Joe Chill, the one who took Martha and Thomas' lives, instead, he gave Kal the chance he didn't have on that fateful day. Batman vs Superman was a massive philosophical and psychological film, it is hated by many because they didn't understand it. And maybe the problem with the movie *was* that it was so transcended from common minds.
