Lol "Louis E Erdrich" cracked me up. Louise Erdrich is a phenomenal Indigenous author who I highly recommend picking up!

The Bullet Swallower is absolutely fantastic! Never thought I'd read a historical western, but so glad I did. Completely agree with your thoughts on The Spellshop. Cozy fantasy > romantasy. Highly recommend The Book of Doors. Incredibly unique and well written!

I'd definitely be interested in you reading from the Fiction category. I agree, a lot great looking books on that list.

The Poisons We Drink was really good!!! It's in the YA fantasy, but handles some tough topics in a good way!

I agree with you completely. Fantasy is not as exciting as usual to me. But I added loads to TBR from lit fic, horror and sci fi (I don't read a lot of sci fi, but when I do, I usually love it - maybe I will up my sci-fi game in 2025!)

As someone who basically exclusively reads fantasy based books (I’ll throw in some contemporary romance occasionally) I find it really interesting to see peoples thought on the other genres because those books are not on my radar AT ALL

I understand your ‘I don’t know what happened’ when buying your books. I hurt my back in 1997 and I now have pain 24/7. When I’m up during the night in pain I tend to get on a website (it’s also a store) here in Australia called BigW. You can actually put lay-by’s on at home through their website, do you see where this is going 🤦🏻♀️ I currently have three lay-by’s going with only 26 books all added up🙄 Yep, don’t give me that look because I know 😫😩😂😂 Will I stop? Nope 😂😂

I had the same reaction to both the fantasy and romantasy categories! I'm with you 100% about The Spellshop, the romance is not at the forefront, so why in the heck would it be in the romantasy category. I was baffled, but that's literally how everyone was marketing it 😅

If you need a Romantasy recommendation, I would highly suggest the Games Gods Play by Abagail Owens if you like the idea of merging a Hunger Games dystopian society with Greek mythology!

I only made it 12 chapters into The Games Gods Play on audio, and 7 chapters when I went back to sight-read the ebook. Cause good GOD is this a mess of a book if writing is at all important to you. My GR dnf review is basically just direct quotes 😂(and that's without even getting into the terrible world-building or anything else) here are some gems. all of these are direct quotes/punctuation/etc: ⚡ “Um…” I stare past him, and he follows my gaze. Three more feet and everyone will be able to see us together. See me…with the god of freaking death. ⚡ Can I get out of this? “Come on.” I guess I can’t. We emerge onto the teeming sidewalk, and I pause. Should I say goodbye before we part…or something? ⚡ Being required to attend the opening rites of the Crucible is worse than a trip down the River Styx.

I will be very sad if Hanna Grace doesn´t win this year, because it was the only three books (that were part of a trio) that i finished. Sanderson is to old, did he have a new published book this year (wow that makes me sound dumb) ok if Bookstore and Bone Dust is not in the audio books i will be super sad. Some of Sanderson´s books could be considered ya
