Because although I sadly missed out on the Attitude Era, I have a good chunk of these events on DVD, and Mania X-Seven is currently my crown jewel of my collection alongside Manias 21 and 23 because of sentimental value to me regarding those events. But regardless I love all my DVDs, as they all just remind me of what fun times we both had with wrestling from 1997-2008, with both Attitude and Ruthless Aggression. Rocky Maivia & Stunning Steve Austin weren't characters you'd see main eventing WM. Stone Cold & Rock were. I'm honestly confused on how the Owen Hart death could be a work. Mainly cause what is so far known is that he actually died but it could be possible that if it was an accident or intentional would be a storyline. It wouldn't been like Vince with storyline purposes. Also if Owen's death was a work then I feel like WWE would've at least tell the Hart family it's for a storyline but due to Owen's death his wife has basically banned Owen's name from ever being mentioned in WWE probably for as long as she's alive

If I had to play devil's advocate, it's probably due to Road Warrior Hawk jumping off the Titantron in November 1998. That angle was completely tasteless throughout, so I can see how someone may have thought they would do it again 6 months later. It's shameful that a handful of those in the IWC will always believe, "since wrestling is fake, everything else about it is too," even in the face of death.

Yeah, that a death could be considered a work seems baffling to me. Even if you look back at the Vince limo explosion angle, WWE back then was careful to not refer to it as a death (only things such as that he "disappeared"). The only way I could conceive that was believed is because of the Road Warrior Hawk stunt as mentioned before. Then again, I remember that during Eddiesploitation some believed that Eddie would come back at WrestleMania because people believed there's no way they would run such an angle about someone who actually died.

I can't say this enough: back then the amount of people who had a PC and would be on wrestling forums would be extremely low. You gotta remember the internet was still nerd space until FB got big and allowed normies on it. Until then it was a niche crowd surfing the web. As a teen back then we didn't think Owen Hart's death was fake, it made the real news that night after all. I tended to avoid the smark stuff as did most the other teens I know.
