By the way, Thyro Alfaro is one of the producers. He also worked in one of the songs in SB19’s Pagsibol EP. He is an amazing artist and he along with his ex Yumi are my favorite songwriters. He is a Viva artist under the same company as Alamat so it is really amazing that he got to work SB19 considering that he mostly work with Viva Artists since he started his career.

The highlight for me is the beginning because that is the representation of the Filipino baby who was tied up in the human zoo in America. If you google the pictures, you'd see that she was probably only about 2 years old and old white men were gawking at her while she was tied up.

The song is about the American colonization in the Philippines. To cut the story short, the United States paid Spain twenty million dollars in 1898 via the Treaty Of Paris. The United States by then committed genocide against the Filipino population. The colonizes also displayed some Filipino tribes in the human zoo in America.

The music video you said. But the meaning of lyrics is all about liking a girl.

@ if you deeply think about what the lyrics is saying, you would realize that the one they're referring to as "Her" or the girl persona is America. Way back before, America is viewed highly by our countrymen like they have the resources and such. With that said, I wouldn't really say that the lyrics is far from what the MV is showing.

the very controversial st Louis world's fair included different native Filipino The concept of this song "kasmala" is aboutnos as living Exhibits it was also Called the 'human zoo '.. Imagine how our kababayans felt during that time being treated as animal in a foreign Land.. But as for the message of the song, it some what tells us that despite of those criticism and discrimination we should be STRONG or MALAKAS in filipino which the world KASMALA came from

To give you a little background:😋 Alamat carries 8 languages of the Philippines, which means it holds history. From the theme, lyrics, choreo and outfits. It represents the 8 origin places of each member. But since music can be interpreted in so many ways, by looking at the lyrics metaphorically, it could be a message on how Filipinos (in the past, even until now) look up to the foreign beauty standards. Thus, the visuals & concept of the mv is reminding us how our Filipino natives suffered and were humiliated in the hands of the foreigners way way back, all because of that foreign beauty standard we tend to worship and confine ourselves in. Basically in the past, for the colonizers, our features and skin tone don't look like human but more like animals (dirty animals). Thus, our Filipino natives were treated that way. Also, the lyrics could be interpreted as Alamat's message to the Filipinos and to those who were discriminated all around the world. That we are strong & enchanting. :) Lastly, this concept wasn't meant to arise hatred. Alamat's goal is to educate. Because hate is taught, it isn't something we're automatically born with.
