The Space Marine CHAPTER, in Dawn of War is the Blood Ravens. Almost everything about them is unknown... and yes, that's on purpose. There's no official lore of which LEGION, they stem from, or which founding besides it being early (meaning long before 40k and closer to 30k). The 2nd founding was Roboute Guilliman breaking up the Legions 7 years after the Horus Herecy, 3rd founding on where Chapters created after that (often by the Mechanichus... more here in a bit). There's a big fan theory that the Blood Ravens were actually created by The Emperor himself before the end of the Horus Herecy. You see before the Emperor was injured and put on the Throne the Emperor was still stuck on the Throne using his powers to hold back a Warp breath that was letting demons invade Terra (caused by Magnus breaking it while trying to warn the Emperor that Horus fell). So the Emperor needed the traitor Magnus the Red back on his side, so Magnus could sit on the Golden Throne as he was the only other person who could control it and not die. Magnus was brought before the Emperor and offered a new Legion not cured with the defect Magnus was trying to cure and free his sons of Chaos. Magnus declined because he would have to abandon his last 1,000 sons, of the Thousand Sons Legion (see where the name came from). However the Emperor worded it like the Legion replacement was already in existence. Hence the fan theory. Plus the Blood Ravens being very numerous in Psykers who are all absurdly strong Psykers too... and they love to steal relics (something you actually do with them in Dawn of War... so the meme of the Blood Ravens is to bolt down everything in your Relicoury if theyre coming to your world and even Text to speech will allude to this) The other big fan theory is the Mechanichus blended the Thousand Sons geneseed with a loyalist geneseed in an early founding, like Ultramarines or Blood Angels. Or a blending of Thousand Sons and Word Bearers, or they're just modified Word Bearers. Of course this would be Herecy.... lol, but in 40k, there's always someone committing herecy. The Mechanichus is the group that creates new Space Marine Chapters, and we know due to Roboute Guilliman, that some of them have access to all 20 (yes, not 18) Legions geneseed... and even he, Roboute Guilliman couldn't stop them from using fallen Legions geneseed or from the two lost Legions. Anyways, this is the fun bit about Chapters, there's plenty of canon Chapters with known lore, plenty of canon ones with high speculative backgrounds like the Blood Ravens, and Games Workshop let's you create your own Chapters too. Now obviously some fan created Chapters don't work with the lore (not joking there's a legit fan who made a while Hello Kitty Chapter) but plenty of others could hypothetically work with the lore. Just to go off tangent, but on a related note, 40k let's players create not only their own Space Marines Chapters, but Sisters of Battle Minorious Orders (break offs of the 6 major orders), your own Imperial Guard Regiments, your own Tyranid hive fleets, custom ork warbands, your own Eldar craftworlds, etc... every codex is filled with artwork of these Canon smaller factions and implications that there's way more to inspire you to paint your models however the heck you want. My Tyranids are painted white and bone colored (the three colors are shadow Grey, skull white, and bronzed flesh... yes, actual names of 40k paints), I did this because they look scary as hell and were in the back of the codex (I think 3rd edition). Like an army of bug skeletons. I think they're an official variant on Hive Fleet Leviathan (the one from the 10th edition trailer) or maybe that was before the alternate color scheme had hive fleets associated with them. My Imperial Guard Regiment is actually a mixture of multiple different planets worth of guardsmen who reformed into a new unit. Basically they're all hardened Battle veterans. Cadian, Valhallian, and Catchen are my main models. Anyways it's because I bought several players Imp Guard Regiments who were quiting. Lol My Tau are Skull White and Chaos black, so they look like Stormtroopers from Star Wars. My Space Marines, are actually just plain old Salamanders... but I wasn't that good at getting their colors just right, so they're armor is a bit darker than it should be. Hey, I was like 11 at the time, and was more concerned about painting fast than perfectionism.

they don't actually steal any relics in any games or lore tho. Memes aside, most of wargear you get in dow2 has descriptions like "won in competition among chapters", "made by blood ravens", "gift from other chapter", "traded from others", "recovered on mission". All of these are very plausible. It's just devs added like 2-3 things which apparently people think impossible to get without stealing, hence the meme.

But it's only attached to DoW 1 by name and Space Marine Chapter.
@adambman27 ай бұрын
A bit like the two redacted marine legions, and the Emperor's origins, there has been - in lore as well - some mystery about the Blood Ravens heritage. Blood Angels or Raven Guard are obvious choices, but other tales tell that they're a loyal chapter founded from Thousand Sons geneseed. There are a few notable loyalist chapters who might've come from traitor legion geneseed, and there could be loads more in recent-ish lore if Cawl ignored Guilliman's order not to make marines with it... Now for some Eldar or Aeldari! The craftworlds often field citizen soldiers known as guardians, but these trailers show off a few of several specialists known as Aspect Warriors. Each supposedly embodies an aspect of their war god Khaine, hence the name. The ones with bone coloured armour, red manes and power swords are Howling Banshees. They're the lighter armoured, hard hitting shock troops, and power weapons will even go through most marine power armour fairly easily (not so much against terminator armour though). The sneaky assasin one is a Warp Spider, moving in and out of reality to ambush targets. Their abilities and weapons are pretty cool and unique, if a bit of a lighter touch. There's way more I could say but hopefully that's a good start anyway! :)

There is little doubt they are Thousand Sons chapter, not only is it pretty much confirmed in the Horus Heresy books, but: > they have abnormal amount of psykers > they hoard relics and lore > they even have all the same catch phrases as the Thousand Sons: like "knowledge is power... hide it well" and "knowledge is power... guard it well" > they have the same color scheme > Corvidae cult inside Thousand Sons had the exact same raven as their logo etc etc.

Given how dedicated to immersing yourself in Warhammer 40K you are, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking the following channels out, these three being my absolute favourites: 1. THE AMBER KING. Hal makes exclusively character focused content and 99% of his videos so far have been about the Primarchs, both Loyalist and Traitor. His videos are between 2-3 hours or longer, and so, are perfect to listen to while you're engaging in a long task/activity. I personally love listening to his content to help me sleep because his voice IS REALLY SOOTHING! 2. BALDERMORT. THE BEST VOICE ACTOR in the Lorehammer community IMHO. He uses fan fiction to set the table in his videos before serving the lore, but his long running original stories "Kronan Da Kunnin" and "Thaddeus & Tarquinius" ARE FANTASTIC! Especially the former, because IT'S AN ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS story of an Ork who displays an uncommon capacity for thinking. All of Baldermort's content is great though, and he covers a wide array of topics. 3. WARRIOR TIER. Their narration consistently has more of a role playing bent than the other two above, and they use voice effects alot.... but this makes their content really cool! For ex: In their video about the Tyranids, the voiceover is how the Hive Mind would sound if it actually spoke and IT'S REALLY UNSETTLING!

Dawn of War 1 is a classic, it's a true to form RTS set in the 40K universe. Dawn of War 2 is a tactical strategy game focusing on smaller scale - with the squad focus and wargear system, I found it to be like a real time version of the tabletop game. Dawn of War 3 tried to do too many things and failed to do them all... it leaned heavily into a focus on hero units, it oversimplified the unit depth of DoW1 while also oversimplifying the squad abilities and cover system of DoW2, leaving fans with a watered down experience. A lot of Dawn of War 1 fans hated Dawn of War 2 for not being a directly upgraded sequel and instead trying a different approach to the strategy, but the truth is that both are amazing. Dawn of War 3 can be okay for a single pass through the campaign, even with the watered down mechanics and questionable lore, but it got even worse when going into multiplayer. Someone went, "MOBAs are really popular now, right?" Multiplayer basically became a MOBA shell played with RTS mechanics - rush down defense towers through lanes, then destroy the enemy team's building of tactical inconvenience that makes them instantly lose.

Dawn of War 1 was and still is one of the best Warhammer 40k Games! There are different Wh40k Games which are good, but the majority of the francise games are dubios at best. I can recommend to watch the "josh Strife pays - was it good? warhammer 40000: Dawn of War" video - it is a long one but he breaks the game good chunks and explains alot about the game. edit 1: Imagine: Watching the trailer of DoW3 and thinking "hell ya!" - and than after such a cinematic Trailer - the game is made in paint (in comparison) In DoW1 you had individual animations for every unit in a squad, execcution sequenzes etc etc - in dow 2 some parts were lost from teh previuos game but it was a good game, sadly no base building, but still a game worth the while. And then DoW3. Do you know the Horse Meme? Where someone drew a realistic horse back and then the front is like a child drew the rest.

not sure if this is your thing, just found ur content, but warhammer fantasy is my preferred version of warhammer (instead of 40K), so its like lord of the rings instead of starcraft (more like starcraft is like 40k but you get it). dont get me wrong 40k is cool, lore and all, but i just love warhammer fantasy, its got everything for your fantasy style needs. and the reason i bring this up is because there are a TON of great trailers for total war: warhammer 1-3 that are very much worth a watch - and the games are the best!, seriously my favorite game of all time, theyre so good!

If you want to play DOW 1 at one point, you won't get away without mods for DOW 1 since it's visualisation didn't aged quite well. There are mods for a more modernized FOV and Zoom for example, since DOW was pretty zoomed in wich was caused to save processing power. DOW 1 represents the lore way better since there can be massive battles, DOW 2 on the other hand represents the Tabletop better with more micromanagement and smaller numbers. But don't let that fool you. I had battles in DOW2 where the slayen enemies went into the thousands! :3 Never played DOW3 tho...

Should mention part of the reason DoW3 has such a good trailer is because Blur Studios, an excellent animation company did it. They worked on the cinematics for a lot of games. I know they worked on a lot of the Halo games, Arkham Knight and Planetside 2 so they are pretty high quality. I'm sure Sega told them what to do but still they crafted the trailer. Also kind of a uncommon take but DoW 3 isn't really bad, it's meh. Which yeah you put that next to DoW 2, that's a serious problem but it's not ever close to the worst 40k game out there. The exterminatus mission in Dawn of War 2 Retribution was the coolest mission in the series. You're on Typhon as the planet is breaking apart with the objective to escape the planet. Your faction has to fight through just about every race in the game while dealing with earth quakes, hurricanes and orbital fire tears the battlefield apart. It's mostly scripted and all but love that mission.

The Master Collections for the first two series are really good 😊 (except soundbug sometimes in DoW 2😞) If you like RTS and want to get them... do it on a sale :)) And if you will stream them :) do it straight 😂 no off stream 😅 Down of War first mission is pretty much a tutorial 😊 plus viewers will help you 😀 Also modding is HUGE for Soulstorm and 🤔 DoW2 Re.

You need to ignore a lot of the hate for DoW3, any true fan will play it regardless of what other people tell them, I feel like it's trendy to hate it and people are sheep so pile on that.. I for one love the Imperial Knights and that alone was enough for me to play through it's entirety, yes it has it's problems, but it's a Warhammer 40K game, I'm playing it anyway.

Dawn of War 2 is odd, it is story driven rpg/rts lite. A great game series, but what makes it odd is the Xpacs/dlc. Chaos Rising follows the Dow2 story closely and gives chaos as an enemy to fight as well as be tempted by. Yet Dow2 Retribution is... standalone unless you play as the space marines. The story is still tied to the space marines, but unlike the base game and first xpac you can actually play the story as 1 of 6 races. Space marines, Tyranids, Imperial guard, Chaos, Orks and Eldar are all playable with their own twist to the story, their own companion characters and gear selections. Even their methods of play are very different as one would expect. It is very different and in my opinion a great yet semi flawed game. Oh and Dow2 does allow for Co-op campaign so if you have a friend you can get even more out of the experience.
