When Adele sings the song you get pure, non-jazz Adele. When Angelina does it, her being a true jazz singer, she is able to penetrate deeper into the soul than a non-jazz singer can, even one as great as Adele. Angelina's vocal chameleon ability finds her incorporating the essence of Adele, but also the 'breathy' releases she learned from Billie Holiday. Add in the 'raw', unique jazz style of Amy Winehouse, especially when she 'slurres' the ending words of a line.

I listened to Adele's version several times. She is a fantastic writer and has a beautiful voice as well technically skilled but I didn't connect to the song. To me she sounded very robotic as if it was another chore to do and cross off her list. The first time I listened to Angelina singing this song, I was overwhelmed with emotions. I felt every word as she took me away on a journey to her world. Maybe because I've been following her since the time that she was 7 years old and watched her progress from one level to another and I feel like a proud grandpa. My eyes still tear up every time I listen to her. Thank you for your reaction and analysis.

In answer to your question, yes, Angelina has several originals "What is Life," "Oslo," "Shield," "Million Miles" and "7th Heaven" were all written, or co-written by her and all are wonderful. Angelina recently did a live stream Christmas special with some absolute legends in the band accompanying her. During that special, there was an interview portion and the drummer, Gregg Field, an eight time Grammy winner, who played with Ray Charles, Harry James, Michael Bublé, Mel Torme, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra said, "I want to complement Angelina. This is the first time we've met or worked together but, and I'm not exaggerating this, You have a gift for storytelling. And the greatest singers that we've worked with Bublé, uh certainly Ella Fitzgerald, certainly Frank Sinatra, Luther Vandross, basically they were wired so that whatever they said, they meant and Frank famously said, 'I never let my singing get in the way of my storytelling.' And I was really impressed, you've got a natural music ability, but for me, it's the ability to tell a story and you do it so organically and it's effortless and I know Chuck feels the same way. You're just such a giant talent." Oh, the "Chuck" he referred to was bass player Chuck Berghofer who played with Ray Charles, Stan Getz, Peggy Lee, Seth MacFarlane, and Frank Sinatra. I think that addresses what you were saying about her voice. When she sings, you believe her!

At Christmas, from an interview she did on the day of her online concert, she will have her own album out in '22. On it will be some of her original works. She did a cover of Duff's song "Mercy" as the opening number for the movie "The Hating Game". She has been referred as the girl with a 1000 voices. Don't try to pigeon hole her. She is not a "one dimensional" vocalist. Even at a young age, it showed. That's a gift.

Never say this is Angelina's most amazing song, you will be proved wrong after a few days. Angelina is already one of the most attractive artists in the music industry today. Angelina said she felt a connection to this song as soon as she heard it. That would explain how she was able to post a TikTok video of it just 6 hours after it was released, and this video 12 days later. Some have said Angelina is singing about her childhood, while Adele is singing about her divorce. Either way, this song and her cover of "All I Ask" brings tears to these old eyes every time I hear them. Looking forward to you doing more reactions to Angelina's videos.

I don't like the way many of the popular female singers these days just sing flat out and as loud as they can. Angelina sings softly when appropriate and can also belt it out when she wants to. Her voice is so full and mellow.

I see you reacted to a bunch of video's of Angelina and are returning from a break :-) There is still a lot of exciting songs to be enjoyed. She has certainly grown a lot as an artist. Her covers are always a beautiful mix of staying true to the original and adding a lot of personal details and of course with her unique voice. Recent covers include Billy Jean, Heal the World, When you believe and Mercy. She has done other amazing covers of Adele's work. "million miles' is my favorite she wrote, decently new, written about her grandpa passing, live in studio version is incredible, like this one. "I'm still holding out for you' is super cool. She was 10, and the writer that sent it to her ended up doing it himself, she never released it, it's not easy to find but well worth it, people always post link for it in the comments and absolutely will here. She didn't write it, but it isn't a song that ever made it out there and her version is insane enough it easily could have.

For me when Angelina sings she takes me to a place where it's peaceful, happy and she makes me forget about the things that weigh me down and tears will come even if she sings happy songs. Lots of singers are out there, and many try to make a song 'their own', usually using a lot of melisma. [Melisma means 'Yah, I know the note I'm supposed to sing, but here are all the other notes around it - listen fast, there are a lot of them"]. Angelina does the best at making a song hers and sharing emotions all at one time without too much melisma. An original singer. Love it, even though I am a huge fan of another singer who sings with enormous talent. There's room in my world for more than one now.

I agree, this is one of her best. One of them. [grin] But I have to say, I found her recent TikTok cover of (the first two verses of) Adele's "Love Is a Game" even more impactful. (As in, like, the second strongest reaction I've ever had to her. Was *not* expecting that…) If you can't watch it on TT, it can be found on YT, reposted here by a few different fans. For me, no one is in Angelina's class at covering Adele, and this is one of, if not the best by Angelina. And the video itself is just Terrific! Another Adele cover by Angelina is just as good (IMO). I subscribed. I like your reaction a lot. You spoke my mind about Angelina's cover several times in your reaction. She is amazing. Her voice is indeed hypnotic. So many of us who are "addicted" to hearing her sing at the very least once a day .. have nothing but gratitude for having her in our lives. She is a gift .. a spiritual gift in some ways because she is such an impath and so clearly inmersed in whatever song she is singing. I do believe that it is her clarity about her honoring the writer and/or original singer when she does a cover. She, as any kind of 'personality' is not present .. only the song exists. There is no 'personality' to get over in order to hear the meaning and spirit of the song .. and so often I read people commenting that even though they have known a song for years .. that hearing Angelina's version allowed them to hear more of the words, and feel clear about the poetry of it and the story itself .. and I so agree. I do hope you continue to do reactions of her covers and hope you also get into her original songs. She has five, I believe, the most recent is "7th Heaven" (Love it .. it's jazzy and young and has an uplifting message. Oh and btw .. I myself like her live studio versions better almost always..) Her others are "Shield", which I really really like .. it's powerful and feels to me like a serious prayer for her life; "Million Miles" (written after her grandfather died, she loved him dearly .. again .. live studio version is my favorite) .. "What is Life" she wrote very young and it is sweet .. I cannot for my life remember the other(s) right now but some other angels most probably will. I am also very impressed by her cover of "It's a Man's World" .. I believe she was 12 .. make sure you find the one on an outdoor stage and she is being backed by the Oslo Military Band (they have a name in Norwegian but I don't recall it .. you can definitely tell its a military band, though.) She is so very powerful in this that the first time I heard it, it left me immobile for a while .. just staring at the screen. Welcome to Angelina's world. I hope you stay with us and do covers of all the songs that call you so we can hear your reactions. She has over 135 videos on KZbin so there's a lot to see and enjoy. OH YES! I forgot to say "I'm Still Holding Out for You" .. which is stunning for a 10 year old girl .. I almost didn't say how old she was so you wouldn't think it's not worthy. It is most definitely worthy .. and amazing. Her "Yesterday" by the Beatles also great and her "Jazzy version of Billie Jean" of Michael Jackson's song .. both of those are recent. With Adele you get pure non-jazz Adele. She's great but because Angelina has mastered the nuance and inflections of a true jazz singer she is able to penetrate the human soul far deeper than Adele can. She uses the 'breathy' releases she learned from Billie Holiday, as well as the 'raw' inflections that Amy Winehouse was famous for. Using the essence of Adele, and adding in a potent portion of Billie, Amy, as well as her own contributions, you (the listener) get a 'four pronged' attack to the senses that no individual singer can match.

No, voices structured very differently. Adele depends on hard high power brassy voice throughout, Angelina uses her voice like a chameleon, wandering among the strings and woodwinds and stepping over to the brass section only when it improves the message of it.
