I wasn’t sure if you were referring to my personal knowledge in your original comment, which is why I stated what I did and hoped you’d come back with clarity, thank you for that. Now regarding my ‘knowledge of something’ - I started this channel 4 years ago with the intent to learn about and appreciate new artists, as well as other people within the music business. I never wanted to present myself in any way as someone all knowing and an expert by any means - I’m not a singer, I’m not a vocal coach and by no means an expect in any way. I simply listen to new music **to me** and react to it. That’s what I love about doing this channel, discovering new things! That’s the whole point of it. Just because I didn’t know about this particular song writer in a world of thousands shouldn’t take away from sharing in this moment of enjoying Angelina’s performance together. You enjoyed it, I enjoyed it and that’s pretty much end of. Pardon my french, but it takes its tole after a while of receiving pretty shitty comments from people time and time again saying things like ‘how come you didn’t know about this?!’ Just because you and many other people know a lot about an artist and the people that they work with does not mean that everyone else does. Again I want to stress, no expert by any means. We can enjoy the performance and talk about that together and you can always let me know in the comments about other stuff that I may have missed/not known about (which is what I love, that’s the point of the channel after all) But again, I don’t mean to come across as having a go at you. I’m just saying my bit in response. But I do genuinely thank you for checking out my video and channel, I do always appreciate it and I hope to see you here again!

I can't stop listening to this new Angelina song. It is just so wonderful. And do you know, at the piano is the orginal writer of the song Toby Gad. And in other videos, already made from this song with Angelina and him in charge, he makes it no secret that he adores what Angelina is doing with it. And he has told: there are more collaborations (including co-writing) of him and Angelina planned. So it is fair to say that Angelina is kicking off her career as an adult singer now.

Toby Gad is a multi Grammy award winning songwriter and producer. He has worked with many of the biggest superstars in the music industry producing award-winning hits. He is currently in process of producing an album of his top eight songs called Piano Diaries. He invited Angelina to perform this song which was originally made famous by Beyoncé in 2008, and has received over 600 million views. Most believe this version is much more touching and emotional, and Angelina has made it hers. Move over Beyoncé! Toby and Angelina are working on some original music coming in the next few months, possibly as an album. He is very influential in the industry and this undoubtedly is a huge break for Angelina.

This cover is glorious, it lets her voice absolutely shine. Thanks to Toby for asking her to sing this reinvented cover of his song for his Piano Diaries album. Hi Adam, this was a collaboration with Toby Gad who wrote the song. Toby has created a bunch of timeless songs by different artists that he is Re-recording now. He chose Angelina to sing the Re-recording of this song. The Beyoncé version was more R&B. We don’t know how much this version was influenced by him or Angelina but we have to assume it was team effort. BTW they are working on new songs together and they have already showcased one of them that will be released in the coming months “Bad Valentine.”

That was Grammy winner and multiple nominee Toby Gad on the piano, he is one of the original writers of the song. He is re-releasing some of his biggest hits ( "The Piano Diaries" ) with up and coming artists and chose Angelina for this song. He is so blown away with her talent, that he decided to collaborate with her on some new original material. They have a new song called "Bad Valentine" , that will hopefully be released this summer with indications of additional songs to come. A wonderful performance. I totally agree. The instrumentation was really well placed to emphasize her voice. I do wonder what they are doing with her career plans. I personally think though she is still finding her way and developing...you really should be starting to hit the videos and recordings. These amazing performances are too sporadic...and the momentum cant be sustained commercially. We have seen enough of these now to be able to say....go the next step.....

Hey Adam. I love your very astute reactions, and I've been waiting to hear you on this one. Like you said, this was a masterclass in every aspect of the performance. Her amazing control, her absolutely unique and wonderful vibrato, her effortless transition between head and chest voice, the richness of her lower register, her ability to use belting judiciously and appropriately and not just as a decoration, her unparalleled ability to emote...the list goes on and on. Incidentally, just to bring you up to date if you aren't already, Toby Gad (the pianist) is the co-writer of the song along with singer/songwriter BC Jean. He has collaborated with many top-tier artists, perhaps most famously with John Legend, having co-written "All Of Me" with Legend. He chose Angelina to do the song for his Piano Diaries album, to be released later this year. To be precise, it's not a Beyonce cover, but a cover of the original artist, BC Jean; Beyonce's version was also a cover of the original.

Per Toby, they played it for Beyonce one day and she really wanted to sing and use this song, and the rest you say is history. Glad you did this. You may wish to check out her Vegas concert. She introduced a new song "Princess of Ruins" about the girl she gave her shoes to. I think my favorite is "When We Were Young" as she just killed this. If you do any of the concert pieces I would suggest you use James Thiel's or BigAngieFan channels as they have done a great job of getting and producing outstanding copies. Her Mother produced a video "10 Years in The Making" that Angelina narrates. You get a peek at who she is so that is interesting. Have a good one.

I'm 59. I first heard this song a couple of weeks ago when Angelina sang it. I know who Beyoncé is, but I don't follow her. After I heard Angelina's version, which she performed with her usual excellence, I had to search for several of Beyoncé's versions on KZbin so that I could compare. I think that Angelina puts the proper emotion into the song, in connection with the lyrics, to really convey feeling to the listeners. My impression of listening to four of Beyoncé's performances it that Beyoncé puts a flashy performance as 1st priority and conveying the emotion of the song as 2nd priority. I like Angelina's version better. That said, I prefer at least several of Angelina's original songs over this particular song.

Toby knows to couch her voice with lateral ornaments keeping her voice front and center. But hes broadening the accompanying counter melodies. He explores this further with the original they both produced in Bad Valentine where the cello n piano have aggressive arpeggios that highlight the adult themes in the song. Really not a cover. The pianist is Toby Gad, who co-wrote the song. This is part of his Piano Diaries" and he invited Angelina to join him and sing in the style he envisioned when composing the song. They collaborated on this, and more to come from them later this year. Can't wait. Thanks for your typical great analysis.

Thanks for the reaction Adam, just a few comments here ... the Original of the song is sung by BC Jean, who wrote the song with Toby Gad (playing the piano in this video), so Beyonce´s version was also just a cover. It would be more practical to compare AJ's delivery to the original, not a cover. But this cover of hers is also endorsed by Toby Gad, just like the cover Beyonce´did. I think AJ was just stunning in this performance.

❤️❤️❤️❤️👣 It's not exactly a cover when the writer of the song is right next to her playing the piano and has specifically asked her to sing his song, he is not a vocalist, on his upcoming album of remakes of his big hits from tha past. Semantics perhaps but an important distinction I would say. I still mostly liked you reaction, as I said two weeks ago. I really hope you get back to Angelina. There were several times from your videos that I have been watching from 2 or three years ago where you say that you are getting to this or that performance or period of Angelina's work but which I cannot find on you channel. There is a good bit which you have not reacted to and I would truly like to hear it. I don't really know how the KZbin algorithms work but I would imagine that many other angels would flock back to hear more of her work be reacted to.
