They are ALL affectionate but it depends who is together like you said. My personal ranking and observations: 1. Wooyoung (affectionate with everyone, gives and receives, kissing machine, love bites regularly, credited by Hongjoong as the reason Ateez is so close with one another because of how affectionate he is whether people want it or not, Seonghwa once said "You can't help but love Wooyoung and he knows it. That's the problem.") 2. San (affectionate with everyone, happily gives and receives all kinds of affection but most attached to Woo, Yeo, and Hwa, the first one to run and love on someone who is hurt or being picked on) 3. Seonghwa (understated affectionate marshmallow, shows mostly in his service toward others, pretends he doesn't like being kissed but secretly loves it, confidently kisses others, LOVES hugs and members seek him out for comfort, mom role) 4-6 (can't decide on order) Yeosang (mostly a receiver but you can tell he's SO happy and content every time, loved on mostly by Woo and San, will be affectionate on his own toward San, loves holding hands, in my opinion he's the one who is babied and fussed over the most) Mingi (wants all the love, no problem kissing people, likes to hold hands and have people lean on him, more of a receiver, Yunho's other half) Yunho (more of a receiver/target of affection, will randomly kiss people 😂, happily holds hands, Mingi's emotional support bestie and rock, Woo + San target him for affection often, roommate Sanie gets extra piggy back privileges) 7. Hongjoong (famous for "not liking skinship" but is actually super affectionate on HIS terms with all members, more of a giver, can't stand kisses, a love-biter, Wooyoung- his problem child- seems to get special privileges to love on him as he's the one who originally broke down the affection barrier) 8. Jongho (supposedly hates skinship but doesn't really, looks like a sleepy baby koala when he seeks out hugs from his brothers, mostly Woo, San, and Seonghwa, will lean on Yeo, excellent at reading and supporting Mingi as they used to be roommates and Mingi is his "favorite hyung," would rather d1e than kiss or be kissed) Hope that helps! I would also strongly agree with your assessment! Only in my opinion Mingi is the most shameless when it comes to skinship, kisses, etc. Whereas others might be embarrassed doing skinship in public, Mingi rarely is (or at least was before his break). And I think, San is a close second with that. Woo and Hwa are more likely to be embarrassed, especially when they are the receivers of skinship.

I mostly agree, but I would rank 4-6, Mingi, Yunho, then Yeosang (as you said Mingi most shameless, Yunho will seek affection, but Yeosang rarely initiates). Also, I'd put Jongho slightly above Hongjoong. Even though Jongho doesn't like kisses, he really likes hugs, and hugs his hyung often. HJ isn't much of an initiator. I love that you quoted Seonghwa's reasoning as to why Wooyoung is a problem.

I think it’s so lucky that Mingi is in a group where his members are so affectionate and loving towards him. What a lucky guy! The idol world would be tough, but to go through it with a bunch of guys like Ateez. He has hit the jackpot ❤️

I think the 99s and Jongho typically drop the honorifics but obviously on camera still use them. I believe Seonghwa stated recently that everyone except Yunho talks to him informally on a regular basis at home. Yunho is so super respectful and humble and I think it's just hard for him. It's like Hwa's life goal for all his brothers to talk to him informally.

Ahh interesting!! Yunho does seem like a super respectful and just authentic human! I can see where Seonghwa is coming from though! I’m studying Korean and have learnt a lot about their culture etc.. I also have quite a few Korean friends and they always say to me “please speak casually because if you keep speaking with honorific’s I feel like there is always a barrier/distance between us”. So yeah I get where he is coming from! Where do they do their lives? Just on their KZbin page?

@@melaniereacts They used vlive up until a few weeks ago when they left for their 2022 US tour. They've done KZbin ever since. We're not sure if it's because they're in the states or if it's because of the transfer happening with vlive but I'm guessing we'll find out whether or not they stick to it once they come home and have to quarantine. Edit: They did experiment with yt last year for their anniversary and atiny day. They may have gone back to vlive for regular lives because there are fewer restrictions on the music played. They have to be so careful with yt to avoid the strikes. 😭

Pirate King and Treasure were filmed in Morocco, the Sahara desert. There's a lot of ship/pirate imagery in the choreo of Pirate King and other choreos of theirs. Mingi is the baby of the group, Yunho, who's been friends with him the longest, has repeatedly said Mingi needs someone to take care of him. San said the same thing before too.

i feel like the ateez are one of the most genuinely affectionate groups i've ever come across. none of it seems forced or fabricated and you can tell they truly care for each other 😭 wooyoung and san takes the cup for first place and hongjoong and jongho are the least affectionate but they have their moments. with pairings, seonghwa and hongjoong are rarely affectionate with each other even though they're the close. there was a clip of hongjoong back hugging seonghwa in a performance and he was genuinely shocked he hugged him 😭😂 also with pronouncing hongjoong's name you're not the only one that struggles, i read something recently that said his name is pretty difficult even for some koreans and I can't remember exactly why but i think it's so interesting.

Yeah thats right...Mingi is babied a lot😅Jongho isnt babied much but every member has a soft spot for him🥰 About shipping in Ateez,its mainly Woosan^^ to the point that even the members call them by their shipping name when they're together!!!you can see a loottt of woosan clips in yt..they're so adorable❤❤ Jongho usually addresses seonghwa n hongjoong as hyung..but am not that sure if the 99 liners use that🤔 its not noticeable actually!!i think they all drop honorifics behind the camera.. Long comment ahead, sorry! 😂 First, I want to say that there is nothing wrong (for me) if you "compare" Ateez with Bts. It's just what you know as an army is helping you when you are exploring a new dynamic of a group, it's natural. I'm a multi stan and honestly Ateez may have one of the healthiest and realistic friendships, I've seen. Been an army for 5-6 years now and an atiny for 2, so let me tell you the similarities between the groups (in my opinion). As a group I would say that they are all pretty affectionate. In terms of touchy affectionate, yea you are right about Wooyoung. He loves to hug and kiss the members and is not shy about it. The members have said multiple times that if it weren't for him, the group wouldn't be as close as it is now. San is a close second with his hugs too. Yea, they are the most popular ship. I've seen people that aren't even Atiny talk about them. They constantly are together and even use their ship name often (Woosan, which means umbrella). They also created a fandom name for their ship-Rain (get it, umbrella-rain 😆). A lot of people like them, because they don't seem forced or fanservice-y. They are just both touchy and comfortable with each other. Also Wooyoung created a slogan for them-"Amicus ad aras". It means "Friends until the gates of heaven". And last year they got real matching tattoos of the phrase. They are often together and are very fun to watch. I would recommend a recent video if you want to see more of their dynamic-"Wooyoung's birthday live more like Woosan being a chaotic mess" by kbopping. And the least touchy members are definately Jongho and Hongjoong. But they show affection in other ways. Hongjoong in their earlier days seemed to be more strict and serious (because he is the leader). Now he is more relaxed, but he said that he doesn't usually like being touched too much (kind of like Suga and RM). Hongjoong I feel like shows his affection when the members are having a hard time. You can check the video "Kim Hongjoong's guide to raising demons" by littlechoisan. Him and Seonghwa are kind of like RM and Jin (mom and dad). Seonghwa has said that because Hongjoong is the leader he has to act strict, but when he is with him he acts a bit more like a kid. Jongho is a little bit strange for me to explain. He doesn't like when the members kiss him, but he doesn't mind the hugs. He seems to have a soft spot for Wooyoung, because I've noticed that he tends to go to him and hug him more often then the other guys. A great video about their dynamic is "Ateez maknae only goal in life is to make each other suffer" by 8makes1octopus. A way that Jongho shows affection is words. If he compliments you, you know he means it with his whole heart. And one thing with Ateez that is unique and I think healthy is that they've said that they become jealous of each other. I think it's both hilarious to think about and healthy that they admit it. There was one live, where they talked about it. And the most dramatic one was between Yeosang, San and Wooyoung. Basically Yeosang became sad, because even though him and Woo have known each other for six years, Woo always goes with San. But they talked about it and everything seems to be okay now. And yea, Jongho is not babied a lot. When I first watched Ateez, I thought Wooyoung is the maknae, but it turned out he is the second youngest. Mingi and Yunho are both gentle giants. I would say that both Wooyoung and Yeosang are more sassy and vicious than them. 😂 P. S. Love that you have decided to become an Atiny! 💜 Ateez are popular, but I still feel like they are not getting enough recognition. Fun fact, Ateez are army themselves. Wooyoung is especially proud of it and saying his bias is Jimin everywhere. I think what makes me most excited is that even though Ateez isn’t exactly “new”, as you said they are popular but still at the stage where people don’t actually know them. Whereas, I got into BTS when the whole world new them. So it feels special to be joint at a point in there journey when they are still on the rise. It’s exciting! I became a fan of Bts when their song "Fire" came out and I remember how much smaller the fandom was. But when "DNA" came out and they performed at the AMA's, it suddenly started growing so fast! So I felt special that I was here before that. And I feel the same way with Ateez now. It's just frustrating sometimes, because they are constantly being praised by seniors and critics, but don't seem to be winning much. I'm just glad that at least their tour and album sales are going well. But let me tell you since it seems like you were just an army before you got into Ateez, there is prejustice against the 4-th generation of k pop groups. It's really sad to see, but it's true. Some fans (not all) of older groups (like Bts and exo-third gen) are really critical of newer groups. It's sad, because I've been an army and still am, but I think the new groups have a lot of talent in them too. A lot of people dismiss their vocal abililities or rap, just because now more groups seem to focus on choreography. But I don't think that's true. Like a lot of people say that txt are boring (just because they have a more of a rock sound). Or say that Nct's music is just noise. Sad to see, but new groups really go against a lot of pessimistic people that just say that the 4-th gen are untalented or can't compare to icons like Bts, exo or blackpink. Anyways, back to Ateez. 😂 I really like that they seem to genuinely care about each other and aren't afraid to show it. Also I don't know how familliar you are with the Big 3 of kpop (YG, JYP and SM). You probably know how bts had a hard time, because BigHit wasn't one of these big companies. Well I find it cool that Ateez are almost the same way. KQ isn't a big company, but they seem to care about the boys. Ateez are very sweet and it looks like they are very comfortable with the staff. A video recomendation is "Ateez and their staff have the best relationship" by lymoonchild. Also their relationship with their "father" the CEO of KQ is really funny too. 😂 A video about that is "How CEO KQ entertainment treat Ateez" by Yonggari. I'm glad that Ateez seem to be in a healthy place working with people that actually give a damn about their well being. Because one of my favourite groups-Got7 (friend group of bts) was heavily mistreated by JYP and it made me frustrated for years. Until they finally left the damn company and are doing a lot better now. @@DJ-cr5cd I think I spoke about this in one of my videos but I can’t believe how well rounded these guys are! NO ONE lacks in stage presence, they have amazing facials!!! The singers are some of the best I have heard - especially Jongho WOW!!! I am blown away by him. Mingi and Hongjoong are also incredible rappers, Mingi has a deep grunge about him and Hongjoong has a more upbeat sound in his voice which I love and he is SO on beat. It’s so satisfying to listen to. Now… don’t even get me started on their dancing. Holy shit. They could perform at dance competitions and win! There is something so beautiful about this group. Maybe because they are so close in age, they are able to really get close! I know that if there is a big age gap (and even if they are ok with dropping honorific’s) being able to get super close may be a bit harder. But being within 3 years of each other must have it’s advantages. They are super cute!!

I love that you are not afraid of watching soft moments and especially because you do not watch the moments for the shipping. I totally understand you. Watching these wholesome moments makes me go all soft and warm inside. Sometimes in the evenings when I would really appreciate a warm hug I watch an Ateez soft moments compilation and that helps me be happy as well. (Wow, that sounded a lot more sad and lonely than it was meant to...) I don't condone shipping as sometimes I can see where people come from but personally I appreciate the comfort the members give each other. And Ateez shows a lot of affection and is not afraid of hugs and kisses (well, Jongho...nevermind). You asked if they speak informally with each other - I don't speak Korean so what do I know? But after watching a few vlives there is a theory in my head. During an earlier vlive San spoke about Woo and said why San was so comfortable with Woo was the fact that he was so polite. Woo answered that he isn't and San clarified that with older people and strangers, he is. And Woo agreed with that. Later vlives or behind the scenes videos show Woo growling at staff (with which Ateez seems to be close) and the members being comfortable with each other. Especially Seonghwa tends to say something like 'But why are you talking to me informally?' during lives when Woo makes him do something - and it is always said teasingly. One time Woo apparently even said 'I always speak informally' (which mind you, could be a translation mistake). We all know Wooyoung is not a good example as he is a quick thinker and even spoke informally to Jessi on her show during the famous Jaja Time. So, all in all after my pointless analysis - I think they do speak informally away from cameras and foremost use formal speech on camera. If someone slips up, call them out teasingly. As someone already wrote, Seonghwa is all for it and as long as they are comfortable with it, they should show it on camera. Why can't I write a short comment? I don’t support shipping either! I have fallen into the “shipping” trap with BTS before and quickly realised that it is not cool. Appreciate the bonds of members for what it is, but some people over sexualise their bonds and it just goes way too far. I am interested in watching the bonds of certain pairings within the group, just to see their friendships. With Woosan… I do know why people might romantically ship them. You’ll notice it too. But some compilations do make idols (and me) uncomfortable. And then groups might stop being honest and open about their friendships, that’s what I don’t like about shipping. So yes, I totally agree.

I'm so happy every time seeing new people entering to the ATINYville (or you can called a "Pirate ship" 😁) cause with their talents and hard working, these boys deserve more praise and recognize than this. It might sound kinda exaggerated but, stanning ATEEZ is one of the best decisions that I've ever made in my life! Since I've been a K-pop fan for more than 10 years. Big Bang is my king, my no.1 group and, I'm not that kinda active person who can catch up everything from sooo many groups that's why i don't interest or want to stan any new group anymore after the 2nd gen. But after I've watched that hello82 challenge video (the one that you have watched in your previous video) and discovered about their song, their personalities, it's like the more I know about them, the more I falling in love with them 😄 These 8 pirates are kinda special and different which i love it so much. Their bonds are the most precious things in the world and it's really warm my heart, their songs, their laugh, their smiles are my sources of happiness and always comforting me when i have a hard time. Im glad youre learning about them so quickly!! I think recently mingi is babied the most because he went on a hiatus during one of their last albums and since hes been back they've been taking care of him more, but even earlier he was babied because hes such a soft hearted person. yeosang used to be babied a lot and the members called him pure and naive, but hes definitely been more confident and 'his innocence has been tarnished' as the others have said lol. Jongho isnt outright babied but they do give him a lot of attention and praise, esp when hes doing aygeo Woo, san, mingi and yunho are pretty openly affectionate but yunho sometimes gets shy if hes on the receiving end of affection. Jongho and hongjoong 'hate skinship' but they have their moments, Jongho is more bold flirting with the others rather than giving hugs and kisses, and hongjoong gets more affectionate in playful settings. hongjoong also gets more affectionate when hes with seonghwa because hes the only one whos older than hongjoong. i dont think they use formal speech often other than hongjoong and seonghwa sometimes, unless its in a formal setting or in a joking way (calling someone boss/sir sarcastically happens often lol),. funny thing to mention is in a recent vlive mingi called jongho hyung-nim and it took longer than expected for anyone to find that odd, given that mingi is older lmao, i think that attests to mingi being babied too.

I almost feel like I am learning more about them from Atiny's comments than I am from the videos hahaha I absolutely love it. As for learning about them so quickly - when I find a group I like, I tend to go all-in and try to learn as much about them as possible. I have really taken to these guys, maybe because I used to think all kpop (apart from BTS) sounded the same. Wow how close-minded I was. I have been listening to some Ateez songs on spotify and it is AMAZING. It's exactly my taste. They have upbeat songs and a lot of chill/slower songs too! I tend to gravitate towards slower songs as I love to sing!! I am also a sucker for affection. So seeing how much these guys love each other really pulls on my heart strings. Loving this journey

37:59 hongjoong and jongho don't like skinship that much, so they just act disgusted and joke abt it, the rest are clingy, specially wooyoung and san. 38:20 so its actually wooyoung and san, its just that they mess with san A LOT, like he's that one person in the groups that they mess the most. But he and wooyoung, both are so clingy. In ranking of them being affectionate i would say 1- wooyoung and san 2-seonghwa, yunho, mingi 3-yeosang 4-jongho and hongjoong🤣

Mingi is an absolute sweet, soft marshmallow, he's very sensitive and requires a lot of care and attention, he needs to be supported, praised and petted a lot. Wooyoung is defo the most affectionate in the group. He hugs and kisses all members all the time. Next would probably be someone like San. Wooyoung and San are always hugging and kissing. Also San is always cuddling the others. He seems very soft for Yeosang in particular but he's always hugging all of them. Maybe Yunho or Seonghwa next. They've said before that Hwa takes on a comforting role in the group so a lot of them go to him if they need a hug. Yunho is another cuddly member and he's confident about it. Next Mingi. He is a bit more shy however he still is affectionate. Especially with Yunho (to be expected after knowing him for like 8 years but still) and Jongho. The final three are a bit hard to rank for me. The last 3 are affectionate but they're shy and don't seem to approach others but rather accept it mainly. Yeosang is usually being hugged by San, Woo, Jongho or Hwa. Hongjoong is affectionate like a dad to his kids. I think he's just a bit shy but when its on his terms he's happy with it. Jongho I think is similar. Sometimes he isn't as keen accepting kisses however he is affectionate especially with the more shy members like Yeosang and Mingi. They're all affectionate to all members but some seem to have ones they go to the most for showing and receiving affection. Sorry this is a bit long lol. Once I started I couldn't stop.

Ateez are ALLLLL affectionate its just that some members (jongho, hongjoong) prefer to do the kinship instead of receiving it.

It's common for people to see the ong and think song, but the first o in Hongjoong is a long o as in saying the letter O or orange (in the States), as are both o's in Jongho. The oo's in joong are the same as the u in June. Jongho is the oldest child in his family, so he's used to be being the hyung. Also, he's just naturally mature. (Yunho is the only other member that's the oldest. WY is a middle child, and the rest are the youngest in their families.) You don't have to worry about copyright for anything on KQ or ATEEZ'S channels or most variety show content. For music shows (including Immortal Songs), it's best to lower the opacity, though mnet tends to only strike newer content (e.g. They were striking Kingdom performances that weren't somewhat transparent for the first few months, but they don't seem to be doing that anymore).

I think the problem with his name is that I need to read it in Hangul. I keep reading the romanised version and the “oo” puts me off. If I read it in Korean I’ll probably pronounce it fine 🤣 Thanks for their background info! It makes sense as to why Jongho doesn’t want to be babied then. im sure a lot of people have said this already but purely based on my speculation hongjoong and jongho dont really like physical affection they have other love languages and that's completely fine yknow ^^ but seonghwa once commented on a vlive he did with hongjoong that hongjoong strangely handles skinship well with yunho and id like to thinkhes more like a house cat whos only okay with it when he initates it? absolutely endearing also its the same with jongho ive seen him cuddle n backhug other members especially with yeosang and wooyoung but he doesnt really like kisses like hongjoong and its ADORABLE please theyre both so lovely?? jongho also isnt very Expressive with his love but he shows it in small ways and its just as meaningful even if he's really bad at saying "i love you"s to the members sort of like yoongi i guess if you wanna think about it

Re pronunciation - ahh thank you, I actually started a Korean KZbin channel called 멜라니언니 where I do vlogs completely in Korean just to practice my pronunciation. I have only done two videos so far but they were super fun! Really challenging though 😳 YESSSS to the pink and violet hair 😍😍😍😍😍😍 I’m definitely going to do a colour soon! My hair is just so damaged though that I don’t know how it will take the bleaching process (because I want to do a full bleach of my hair to get a really nice pastel pink colour).
