The theme of the music video is Miku's experience and the band's current homage. The maids, cleaners and managers that appear are traced to the band's members. Each performer is likened to a member of the band. Now, let's think about who is which member. Miku wanted to be a singer, dropped out of a local national university, moved to Tokyo from Kumamoto, and worked at a maid cafe for about half a year until she became a member of an idol group. She realized the idea of forming a band playing hard rock in maid outfits after the idol group broke up unsold. At first, it wasn't very popular and there was talk of dissolution, but the goal was to aim for the world as the Thrill music video was played 10 million times around the world. And it continues to evolve until now. Curiously, it is still highly evaluated overseas than in Japan.
@joeking67633 жыл бұрын
An added note to your comments (which I look forward to for your insights btw): Watch the video without the music (if you dare!) Also please note that the photo on the wall is actually MIKU when she worked at the maid cafe! This comment was on another reaction video: MV is not connected with the lyrics of the song, it is a special story. This is actually the story of the band in the last 11 months. When I first watched the video I was happy for the fun video and the great rock song. However, when I read some comments and looked carefully only at the video, I became worried and a little sad. The video begins with a maid in a completely empty cafe (MIKU, founder of the band, red bowtie). Due to the COVID situation, the cafe is closed and there are no guests (no concerts and live performances) and the maid goes to the locker room frustrated. There is already an unemployed maid who is bored (not Saiki, but Kanami with a purple bowtie). A third maid (yellow banana bowtie, Akane) is coming soon. They are all angry and frustrated, joined by a cleaning lady (Misa) and a manager (Saiki). Suddenly, the situation changed, everyone was well and happy to dance together (The situation is improving as the band releases a new album, MV, and plans a Nippon Budokan concert) and take pictures with lovely smiles (The band is optimistic and open to the media). That's how MV ends. The girls appear in the order in which they joined the band. Here are some additional reasons why this is so: 1) Miku appears first and that is clear to everyone. 2) Costumes similar to maids in maid cafes are worn by Miku, Kanami and Akane, so there is no chance that Saiki is dressed in that costume. Kanami sits and looks at Saiki on the phone, which she adores and that is why she wears a bow tie in her colors. 3) The third maid is next to the chair all the time (only the drummer Akane has a chair). 4) Only Misha can be a cleaner. 5) The band has not been functioning on the principle of a band leader for a long time, but Miku emphasized in recent interviews that Saiki has the last word in decisions. That's why Saiki is the manager. What worries me is that MV was recorded before the cancellation of the scheduled Nippon Budokan concert and that the girls will become as frustrated again as at the beginning of the video. Band Maid needs the support and help of fans more than ever."

Unseen World is indeed a great album, from beginning to end. “I Still Seek Revenge” might be their heaviest song yet. “Sayonakidori,” with Miku taking on lead vocals, deserves more love; it has a fun J-pop/J-rock feel. Chase, after Daydreaming (MV), you really need to check out BAND-MAIKO. I recommend you start with the “Gion-cho” video, because it is not a BAND-MAID cover, and has a very different sound, song structure, and approach to vocals

Great to see this come out. I have always been a guitarist fan and love Kanami's work, but MISA and Akane have me appreciating the rhythm section of a band like never before. I hope we get some new videos soon, but there's still some great songs/music videos that would make for good future reactions. We have Daydreaming, Bubble, Secret My Lips, Don't You Tell Me, Glory, Don't Let Me Down, and Endless Story left from the official channel I think that would all be good for reactions. Those are listed in my order of preference, but these girls never disappoint. I've been playing Lovebites tracks back to back with Maiden and Metallica, and it's like all those guys have six-shooters and someone just showed up with phasers. But it's more than technical chops. They've been around only four years but their variety of songwriting already rivals those bands. Four more years and who knows where they can take it. Chase, your reaction videos are like a fun classroom setting sometimes. Your insight is appreciated. Something that has occurred to me about Band-Maid is something that has also been true of other bands in the past. To use an old cliche, the "man behind the curtain" in this band is the one person who frequently goes unnoticed in so many reaction videos. She founded and speaks for the band, writes nearly all of the lyrics, arranges vocals (along with Saiki), plays rhythm, adds vocals, and is the only member to both play and sing throughout a concert. On top of all that, she is a tireless workhorse for the band and is the business mind as well. There's a reason the other members have great respect for that little "pigeon" who is happy to take a step back and let the others shine. She is an extraordinary woman with lots of personality and an unstoppable drive to see this band achieve "World Domination".

Hey, Chase! I've been trying to figure out what it is that gives these hard rock riffs their edge. I'm convinced it's Akane's drumming. And more specifically her use of the kick to add swagger to these passages. Of course there are countless other BAND-MAID things happening that all plus it up, but the drumming. The drums. Oh, the drums.

BandMaid is the epitome of the Japanese lifestyle. There is no lone stand out. Its main focus is to push the group forward. Just when you think Kanami is shedding a guitar rith, in comes MISA with her bass guitar, and Akane secures the moment with her drum beat. I almost feel guilty leaving Siki and Miko at the end. But I know there's no hard feelings because, like I said earlier its about pushing the group forward, not personal individually.
@penguinpower3143 жыл бұрын
This entire album just has no chill, it's full intensity all the way. And yeah it's pretty much an Akane and Misa showcase throughout, both of them are insanely busy but in super musical ways that never feel overbearing to the song as a whole, it's very impressive writing. Kanami feeds them demos, and they just know how to fill it out perfectly with their parts.

I am always amazed at Band Maid's sense of humor. This video has two references to Band Maid's formation. First, Miku had worked in a Maid Café, which was what gave her the idea for the Maid Band. Secondly, When the three maids are dancing with the manager and cleaning lady they're referencing Miku's failed Idol group 'Lil Cumin', three dancing, singing girls dressed in cutesy maid uniforms. I saw a video of them, they sang pop songs like "I think We're Alone Now", and while Miku was the stand out, as whole they were forgettable.

I wonder what will you say about the live rendition of songs from the new album. Because some of them seem to be borderline unplayable live, the chaos reigns. The first live show where they played these, one could see how hard they were working to keep it together. They didn't have time to mess around during the new songs at all. Misa the bass alien even said that she really has to focus, look at her hands, and might screw up if she's tipsy. That's unheard of. By the way, After Life is one of the songs that also have an instrumental version on the extended album. Gives it a different vibe, but you don't feel like it's missing anything. How they write a song to have a "radio friendly" chorus, but also to be complete without the vocals, I do not know.

Awesome breakdown as always... Love your work! I noticed you still haven't done Aussie band KARNIVOOL. Recommendations: Goliath; Deadman; Change Pt. 2. WARNING: Make sure you're in a cool, dry place... your face might melt.
