100% ... A lot of people are very apologetic and being afraid to make a stand on anything. How are you going to build strong character if you're always trying to agree with everyone and trying to make everyone happy. Back then it used to be a people pleaser which was a problem, but now that seems to be the standard and it's really weird. Maybe I'm just old.

Yeah, I always worry about women who get those kinds of tattoos because traffickers etc make some women get tattooed in a very specific way to mark them as property. I think there are real ethical questions that tattoo culture doesn't talk about much that need to be taken into consideration on these fun commentary channels. Like maybe just don't show these kind of tattoos if you don't know the story 100%.

I have two artists, on the same shop. One is a young woman that does incredible anime and has great shading and coloring. The other is the shop owner, who has flawless line work and sticks to "bold will hold" trad and neotrad but always rule of 3rds. His work always heals perfect and I've been going to him since he was working someone else's shop shortly after he lost his everything to hurricane Katrina. Yeah, that long, I found an artist that does what I want and I haven't looked back. He draws his work himself and although they look simple to casual viewers, they are applied perfectly, and I love the cohesion. The older artist that owns the shop uses the loud coil machine, super loud when he tatted my face, the younger woman uses the new quiet wand, both work great, the wand seems quicker because she can get to angles without cords needing positioned, but otherwise there is no negative from either unless you hate the noise.

The blackout leg looks like it's a different take on blackout , because it is. He doesn't have a full leg sleeve of work that he is covering up , which is why most people are blacking out. Cover up doesn't really allow for a ton of negative space designs.

trying to say "tattoos aren't painful because the needle pain itself isn't bad if you do it for 4 seconds" is very silly. of course it's not THAT bad on its own. it's when you do it for 6 hours and run out of adrenaline and the repetitive pain has been happening for HOURS that it actually matters lol

Gotta be honest I kind of appreciate that guy's option of testing the needle. I'm terrified of needles but I am planning to get a tattoo from a certain artist I really like. I would personally never request an artist do that for me. My plan is the same as what I do every time I have to do any blood work or procedure which is to turn the volume up on my rock/metal playlist and disassociate. That being said, I feel like it could build confidence in some people and ward off others who won't sit well but have to because they already started.

I knew I wanted tattoos since I was a kid but I was terrified of needles, finally when I was 23 I followed the Carrie Fisher, "Be afraid but do it anyway." I was so nervous and scared and the tattoo artist told me he liked them scared because right away the person would realize they built this pain up in their head and realized it wasn't as bad as they thought. And sure enough, I quickly got over any reservations and am almost done with my arm sleeves and am starting on my legs. Sure, some tattoos are absolute agony but I know sit still and you'll get through this soon

I sat pretty well for my shoulder tattoo but i wanna get a dagger through my surgery scar on my forearm from where they put plates and pins in for my broken arm but since I have nerve damage there I might like involuntarily jerk my arm if the needle hit oart of the damaged nerve or it might just be crazy painful for a forearm tattoo and I wouldn't wanna find out halfway through laying down an actual tattoo that i can't handle getting that spot done. Also i feel like the aame could go for a big rib piece or something where someone might wimp out and end the session but i guess with that you could finish later but for me idk how my arm will even react

I watched a video about them doing a study on the link between tattoos and lymphoma, also that tattoo ink dyes your lymph nodes So what they found was that actually laser treatments break the pigments down smaller and that causes more lymphoma than actual tattoos, since the ink particles stay bigger so less gets into your lymphatic system Idk just look it up if anyones interested, there was a video on KZbin someone made talking about the study and this subject.. it was pretty interesting imo it also showed if you have older tattoos you’re safe, the risk is to people who have a few/ more recent ones and the more tattoos you get the lower chance you have of developing it, maybe your immune system realizes it’s not a threat? Saw comments bringing up the lack of regulation of tattoo inks, and how many inks on the market are not safe

The whole "testing" how much it would hurt wouldn't even... work, because the place you expect to hurt the most might not hurt at all, but somewhere you didn't test is excruciating. Or it doesn't hurt unless you're doing a full line, or shading, or whatever. Like for me, the "pain" is the persistence of it so a little "no ink scribble" wouldn't actually inform a client of ANYTHING, y'know? like you said, it's just babying the client but also just... providing them net zero information to make their decision of.

Idk if it's more knowledge better ink better equipment or all of it but when 8 hours ends up only being 4.5 i save money my tattoos looks great so I'm all about new technologies. As long as it's not a robot because the artist is so important none of my tattoos were done the way i imagined they were all improved by the artist and that's my advice is always leave room for the artist to adjust they know better then your ticktock time line
