That song hits my heart ♥ I saw the musical Jesus Christ Superstar on stage for the first time in the 9 th grade. For a little context, this song reflects Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane on the night that he's betrayed by Judas. It's Jesus's moment of doubt, knowing the brutal time ahead - asking God if he has to suffer, then accepting his burden. Dan Vasc performed the heck out of this. ❤❤❤

In some of the accounts of Jesus bargaining with God in the Garden of Geth (rhymes with beth) sem a nee, it is said that he was so distraught that his sweat turned to drops of blood. You can feel that level of pain in this performance by Dan Vasc, and that is not an easy thing to do.

This was referring to when Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane on TBE night before the day He was crucified. In the Bible, He was said to have been in mental anguish that night and sweat so hard, it was like blood. Nice reaction to one of Dan's most powerful performances. Keep them coming, please!

Gethsemane is pronounced Geth seh munee from 'the musical, 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. Biblically the scene is not correctly depicted here as Jesus did question his Father once when he was suffering on the cross but then willingly died for our sins. Dan definitely shows raw emotion and superb acting. His singing is as usual, beautiful 🥰🥰

Gethsemane is the garden where Jesus went to ask God to take this cup from him. He prayed to.his Father God while his disciples slept, then He was betrayed by Judex with a kiss and then taken away by the Roman solider

Dan Vasc has a very powerful voice and he really let loose here. BUT I much prefer John Farnham's version from the last night show of JCS in Sydney. I haven't heard anyone yet better his version.

Vasc nailed this, no question. I've seen Ted Neeley perform this twice IRL -- 20 years apart -- Neeley continues to perform this role on stage, after starring as JC in the original movie (based on the musical) in 1973. Vasc rivals his performances any day of the week. In my humble opinion, this is the best song in the musical; it continues to show that JC is human and flawed like all of us.
