For years now Dimash has firmly laid the blame for war at the feet of leaders and politicians, he's said in many speeches at his concerts that there are no bad nations, only bad leaders. This is his call to stop listening to propaganda and do what we know is right in our hearts. He said at his recent Hong Kong concert that as he looks out across the audience "you look like one big happy family". He draws a huge multi national audience and yet everyone is together singing in whatever language he wants us to sing in and quite often he'll cover six or 7 languages in one concert including his native Kazakh.

Dimash really took it to another level with this cinematic work. It's more than just a clip, it's a wake-up call! He is so invested in the well-being of humanity and the unity of all people. If it were up to me, I would award him the Nobel Peace Prize, nothing less. It’s a shame that there aren’t more artists like Dimash who use their platform and their notoriety to send such messages. It takes a lot of courage to do so, especially in these difficult times for all of humanity and for this reason he deserves all our respect. Congrats on the reaction! Well, some considerations: (1) Dimash composed the song and participated in the arrangement, in addition to acting in the mini-film. The lyrics of the song and Russian poet Lilia Vinogradova and the video direction by Alina Veripya! (2) The artifact that the boy found in the trunk and that was turned into necklaces is a "gnomon", a needle for a sundial (a rustic device for keeping time); (3) The name "Piper" (piper, or piper) is known as a synonym for "dictator", "despot": This originates from the tale of the "Pied Piper of Hamelin" (folk tale rewritten by the Brothers Grim), where a piper was hired to deal with the rat infestation of the city of Hamelin (Germany, 1284). After hypnotizing the rats with his magic flute and drowning them in the Weser, the artist went to collect the amount owed (one coin per head) and was not paid (they alleged that he did not present the "heads" of the rats). He then hypnotized one hundred and thirty children from the city of Hamelin and locked them in a cave. Yeah, well, the "pied piper" (also called "ratcatcher") has become synonymous with the tyrant who uses a mesmerizing speech and leads to death! (4) The term "Imagine" refers to the song of the same name by John Lennon; (5) The final text is part of the document generated at the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, held in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) on 09/14/2022 and was attended by Pope Francis, representing the Catholic Church and who presented Dimash, on the occasion, with a medal of gratitude.

It shows all the horrors of war from the indoctrination of the mases to the war crimes against the civilians. The desire to take revenge after seeing his daughter murdered. He did not fight back although he still has a weapon. The new born baby, his son, becomes the leader of those who did not participated in the war and were searching for a new world. Dimash wrote the script, the song, acted in the short film and instructed the lyricist what to write. He is sending a message of peace showing the horrors of war. Thanks for your reaction. It’s not just you. Many of us think the same way, but we are too afraid to confront those who only want power by any means. Thank you for your good interpretation of the video and your great and empathetic reaction. In The Story Of One Sky he composed and sang the whole soundtrack himself. The video shows once again that Dimash is an absolute genius. In composing, in singing but also as an actor and as a storyteller. The powerful message conveyed by this video is more relevant today than ever. I think this video is mostly about the message. This message however, is for the first time more important than his vocal abilities. His voice is just the tool in this video. But simply unbelievable. His singing is indescribable and I don’t have the words to express it adequately. But it is only the mediator of what this video is about. This is so heartbreaking and sad and an awesome masterpiece. Pure goosebumps. He worked on this composition for three years and also wrote the screenplay. The premiere was on September 24, 2022. As some have mentioned, this video should be seen by many people. It may be very brutal for some. But let’s not forget that for many, including children, this is everyday life in some countries. And Dimash relentlessly shows us how ugly war is. OMG he is such a phenomenal actor. Dimash was the little boy who was drowning in the beginning and he gave the necklace to his childhood friend (and future leader) and the girl. The girl on the beach was his future wife. She was pregnant and in the end of the video she gave birth to her and Dimashs' (character) second child. The littel girl who was shot was Dimashs and her first daughter. When he came home and saw his daughter dead on the ground, he had to assume that his wife and unborn child were also killed. Desperation and maybe revenge has led him to kill his former friend. When I first saw the video, I was shocked. I didn't think he was going to shoot his friend. But in the end that all made sense. Dimash wanted to show what revenge can do. Violence always breeds violence, and because of this, not only is the leader dead, but so is Dimash. It was so heartbreaking to see Dimash drown at the end. Dimash in the last sequence of the video was the baby that was born and now as a grown man unites people of different nationalities and religions for peace. In this video you can see how the main religions are represented mostly with his voice. Islam with the type of Arabic melisma (unfortunately I don't know the correct explanation for this type of singing), Buddhism with the monks and the enchanting "Ohm", Judaism with the shofar and the Christian church with the soprano singing, which often can be heard in churches and of course the cross. Hello dear, your thoughts on Dimash's video are sensational, a true work of art, seen in almost all Asian countries, because in the West it is not interesting for an avatar to talk about peace, governments avoid it because they are interested in waging wars and selling their weapons. And the media follows the guidelines of the global elite, only showing disgrace and fear in order to continue their purpose and keep us silent and inert in the face of atrocities. Hello friend! Thank you for your sincere reaction! When I first watched this MV, it broke me, I became very emotional, it was heart wrenching, to say the least! 😢 Have you noticed that Dimash is the main solder right from the very beginning of the war scene, when he was walking under the overpass, also when he was shot in the arm, many people miss that? Dimash has worked very hard for 3 years composing the music for this song, and around 20 days to make this MV. It turned out to be his most valuable MV, in the ideological sense, ever made, a real Masterpiece! I believe that Dimash deserves THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE for his selfless hard work and tireless efforts, not only for this MV, but for trying to bring the world together in love, peace, and harmony and through his many charities. He is a Legend in the making and will go down in History. This is my breakdown of the story, as I see it: This mini movie is full of symbolisms, it's the story of 3 youths, and the necklace which was created by the young Dimash and shared with his friends symbolizing lifelong friendship and unity. The boys both loved the same girl, but she loved Dimash, so the other boy grew resentful over time, started a war, using the symbol of the necklace given to him by his friend Dimash, as the crest on his army uniform. 1) Dimash, was the boy drowning at the beginning and at the end. 2) The Piper, is the one who saved Dimash, became the leader, and was killed by Dimash at the end. 3) The young girl, who died in childbirth, became Dimash’s future wife, had two children together; a daughter who was killed by the Piper's army; and the birth of a son who inherited the necklace from his mother…, they were all affected by the war. “People are the caravan…. Life is the way”: Dimash spoke these words in Kazakh, when he found his daughter dead. For the symbolic aspects, Dimash is showing the different cultures and religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hindi, etc.), through throat singing, which is called the REQUIEM (mass for the souls of the dead), from different religions. The Pilgrim or (Shepard or a Wise Man) at the end of the video was Dimash’s baby boy, born in his image and grows up to guide the Representatives of different religions and race from different Nations to the light, for a new beginning living together in peace, tolerance, love, and harmony. Yes! Every Australian is shouting at the screen; "You Don"t do chest compressions like THAT! Faster! - FASTER! 3 Times Faster!! - and Harder!!! And, Yes, anyone who has watched Bondi Rescue knows people don't smile at that point, they're too busy trying to breath and are usually still semi-conscious, but Hey! It's 'artistic licence' Right!? Not a 'Music Video' but a Mini-Movie with a Maxi Message. The soundtrack - being Dimash - is of course gobsmacking, but Dimash wants us to focus on the videography more. After all he spent the goodly part of 3 years creating this. Most of it with his own funds. Dimash presented this Masterpiece to the Inter-Faith Congress that was held in Kazakhstan in Sept. of 2022, where The Pope presented Dimash (and his team) with an Award recognising 'The Story Of One Sky" as a 'Significant Contribution to World Peace'. This song is a "modern" multicultural interfaith Requiem (the traditional Requiem is a song for the Mass of the Dead in the Catholic Church. The best known requiem is by Mozart I think). The Requiem usually has 2 parts: one mourning death and the other celebrating life. Dimash says in a low voice: Адам керуен, өмір жол. Man is a caravan, life is a road. (Kazakh proverb) So for me, the caravan is his (and our) inner world. Religiosity is in us, the religious man dies when a part of the soldier (Dimash) dies when he finds his daughter dead. So when he seeks revenge, there's a storm. Death follows death: Piper dies but the soldier (Dimash) dies too. Death is not the answer. And so violence is not the way (You can murder the "bad guy" but if everybody thinks that violence is an answer, another "bad guy" will appear for sure.) And then we see that his son made a better decision... His son joins others in seeking peace. That is the final answer. Hug from Brazil 😍🇧🇷

More movie details: More details about the film: (1) The two boys competed for the girl's attention; (2) The character (who Dimash represents as an adult) created a symbol to confirm the friendship between the three, after being saved by his friend; (3) Still in the video we see the girl choose "Dimash" and then they get married and have the little girl (who was killed) as a daughter and the mother is pregnant with another boy; (4) The oldest boy (who saved "Dimash" from drowning) does not accept being abandoned by the girl and becomes a dictator president/general; (5) Dimash becomes a soldier who decides to return from combat to protect his war refugee family; (6) Dimash finds his daughter dead and thinks that his wife had also died, so he decides to take revenge on his friend; (7) He kills the dictator and is killed regretting the violence he committed in life; (8) Dimash's wife is well received by people of different religions who agree that Dimash's son is someone special; (9) The wife dies in childbirth and Dimash's son becomes a leader who leads the refugees to a better place of tolerance, respect and acceptance.

Did I notice anything else? Oh yes. I’ve rewatched this so many times. So there are tons of symbols (the gnomon and the removal of its hole when it became used as the tyrant’s symbol, the various symbols of all major religions, etc), metaphors (the Piper, Imagine, Waldenburg, seekers of truth, etc), even the shot where Dimash gets wounded and slams into the wall in the position of the one he shot (meaning it’s you or me), everything is crafted down to the last detail. The composition of the entire piece, the execution of it… even the final message: a quote from the Declaration of Human Fraternity signed by Pope Francis and Sheikh Tayib in 2019. The open interpretation of various aspects, for instance, is the last scene about Dimash’s son? Or Dimash’s soul?

Just in case anyone missed any references in the video, This is by far the best explanation I have found. It was written by Heiderose Kober: This is subtitled "Requiem” but it is also a vision and a call to action. Dimash is steeped in sacred music and has a deep understanding of the mystic teachings and symbolism of the major world religions as well as Kazakh shamanism. It is not by coincidence that the first performance of this work took place on September 14, 2022, at the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Kazakhstan. The written statement at the end of the video is directly from the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” signed jointly on February 4, 2019, by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb. Dimash met and spoke with both men at the September meeting. Everything Dimash does is intentional, and this piece has layers that would take a dissertation to unravel. I only touch on some of what struck me in the symbolism. The music is a dissertation all by itself. The pendant is an interesting element. It is a gnomon from a maritime compass sundial. This triangular blade is attached to the sundial, casting a shadow on the sundial while the perforated pinhole projects the image of the sun onto the dial. It was used for both timekeeping and navigation, with the gnomon oriented to True North. (Thank you, Snarky Tart for that information). In the MV, (the taller child) who later becomes the military commander, never puts on the necklace. After Dimash, (the drowning boy), gives his friend the pendant. The camera focuses on his hand and shows that his friend has bent the gnomon in anger over being rejected by the girl (later Dimash's Wife and the mother of his daughter who is killed). Thus bent, it can never be oriented to True North, and he has lost his moral compass. Later, we see a version of the gnomon as the military insignia on the uniforms of the commander and his soldiers, but distorted and without the hole that allows light to shine through rendering it useless as a compass. When we lose the original intent of a symbol by twisting it into something it is not or by just paying lip service, it no longer has any spiritual meaning. At best it becomes a useless prop, at worst it is used to mislead and manipulate people. Contemporary music is also present: With the phrase "We have passed the moment of Imagine," Dimash reminds us that we are past the sentiments evoked by the song "Imagine" by John Lennon. It is time to stop dreaming about a world of peace and harmony. If we choose life, if we wish for peace, if we want a world without war for our children and grandchildren, we must act and take up the long hard path up the mountain towards the light. It is the only way. The storyline is a very human one: we start as innocents until our hearts are broken, we fail, or our dreams are not realized. If in our pain and disappointment, we turn to anger and blame instead of acceptance, power instead of love, greed and envy instead of generosity, hatred instead of forgiveness, and revenge instead of justice, we sow the seeds for conflicts that can turn into war. The Piper's call is seductive as it promises redress for our grievances, control over our circumstances, and power over those who thwarted us, and this appeals to our wounded ego. However, let's remember that the Piper is a symbolic figure of Death from the Middle Ages, often used as a metaphor for trusting and following charismatic but dangerous and malevolent leaders to certain death. Even if we resist, as the adult Dimash character does, we often employ the same methods and weaponry as the Piper, and thus those who fight back betray peace as well because peace cannot be won through violence. That is the dilemma of those of us who did not start the war, who do not support the war, but are forced to respond in order to defend ourselves and those we love. How can we rid the world of evil without becoming what we fight against? The burning sign "Waldenberg" is a reference to the end of WWII when the US Army destroyed the last of the resistance by the German Wehrmacht close to the end of the war in April 1945 in the part of Germany where I grew up. I have seen the aftermath of war as I was born a few years later when much of Germany was still in rubble. Waldenburg is only 28 miles from my hometown and was completely destroyed as you can see from the picture. Many of the dead in those bombed-out buildings were women and children. The good guys defeated evil but at what price? War is not the answer. We must find better ways to keep evil in check. iowaculture.gov/.../american-troops-move-through The last movement is powerful: The cries over the loss of a beloved child and the cries of giving birth to new life are presented as a call-and-response grounded by a powerful Om chant that creates a sacred space, reminding us that death and birth are both sacraments and are interwoven in the tapestry of life. Dimash's vocalization and the pilgrims representing world religions and religious leaders, past and present, walking together shift the narrative toward the final conflict and finally redemption. When Dimash’s character decides to avenge the murder of his daughter, his state of consciousness is reflected in the darkening sky with lightning bolts of anger accompanying the storm of his emotions that buffets the pilgrims and hinder progress. The fog of war obscures the light. When he is killed after exacting retribution, he is dropped back into the "sacred womb" of Earth, the ocean of love and mercy, and is cleansed of the old hatreds and grievances that only bring more death and suffering. He breaks the wheel of endless war and suffering by choosing life. Dimash's scream of “we’re choosing life” is that of giving birth: the old earthly consciousness of an eye for an eye has to die to make way for a new spiritual consciousness that embraces all life. His soul is breaking free to return to its natural state of love and purity as exemplified by the images of the children and the newborn baby. The blowing of the shofar signals God's mercy for humankind when it turns from wrong to right: in the Zohar, the book of Jewish mysticism, it says: “When human beings repent of their sins, they blow the shofar on earth. Its sound ascends On High and awakens the heavenly shofar, and so mercy is aroused and judgment is removed.” Reborn as a leader for peace and love, Dimash's character in the form of his son becomes a spiritual guide for all of mankind on our shared journey up the mountain towards the light of God, however we may interpret or name the divine. We are all on the same path, even if our personal narratives, cultural heritage, race, and spiritual orientations are very different from one another. By focusing on our common destination rather than on our differences, we can walk together in peace and love and mutual respect. Carl Jung wrote: “Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darkness of other people. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely. Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. It is a masterpiece. Dimash and the girl marry? and have a daughter. She is pregnant with his son. The other boy becomes the evil leader. It's his forces that kill Dimash' daughter. Dimash in turn kills his childhood friend as his son is born. You see all the people from religions of the world marching, the Muslims, the Buddhists, the Christians, and the Jews. At the end, I think it is the son of Dimash leading the people and not Dimash who was killed as we saw.

As you know now this was entirely in English so I always find it amusing when people don't recognize their own language. Lol This is purported to be one of the most expensive music videos ever made at 3 million dollars plus. Dimash worked on this for approximately 3 years and he composed the music and wrote the script (not yhe lyrics).

This was released in September of 2022. So not too long ago. He worked on it for 3 years. From the idea to completion of the music video. So even before Russia invaded the Ukraine. He's been speaking and singing about World Peace for ages. You should check out his song War and Peace. He wrote the music but the words are in Chinese, so he didn't write the lyrics. They just interpreted his message. With how long this video was, i thought you were going to check out the live version. And ask John Reaves, the live version hits different, more impactful. @@ALovelyPenguin Technically there is no official live video. There are fan cams of course, but you can also go to his concert Stranger Part 3 on his channel and Story of one Sky starts at 23:25. He talks about the song, before he sings it for the first time. If you watch it the from the concert footage you will need a filter, but the fan cams you won't.

Thanks for your great reacrion. There are a few short comments I don't know if others have mentioned. The small metal piece is a gnomon, the vertical part of a sundial. With the hole it can be used for navigation. The Piper's no longer has a hole (and he bent his), losing his "moral compass" and can no longer find his way to the light. The marchers in the desert are people who spent their lives for peace and love in the world. They are from all religions, and even includes Jesus. In this vocalized section he is "singing" the world's great religions. In the end Dimash has also given his life and has joined the marchers. Dimash wrote the music and the screenplay and spent 3 yrs and $7,000,000 making this video, which he said at Almaty came straight from his heart. As one recent reviewer said of Dimash, of course there is his incredible voice, his stage presence, etc..but his MIND! He said he has an alien angel mind as big as the univers. If you have not yet done it, you might appreciate reviewing the music video Qairan Elim which Dimash directed and symbolically tells the history of Kazakhstan. It is his love song to his people.
