🎵On January 19th, Elle King showed up drunk to play at the Dolly Parton Tribute. Not only was she drunk....she was an angry drunk. She is seen on camera yelling at a fan that they aren't going to get their money back. She also said she couldn't believe people 'bought tickets' for 'this sh*t'. After screaming "Don't Tell Dolly!" in the middle of a song and being clearly unable to not only sing Dolly's songs but not even her own.... the venue closed the curtain on her and apologized to the customers. In this episode of Roots Music History we dig up the Roots of Elle King - who she is, where she came from, and most importantly how she found herself in country music in Nashville, TN.🎵 #reactionvideo #elleking #dollyparton #enews

I couldn't care less if she plays the bango while standing on her head! To disrespect Dolly (in Nashville of all places) was terribly disrespectful!

This is exactly the reason I quit listening to country music. Also was when I found out that just about every country song was bought. As much as I cannot stand Taylor Swift at least she writes most of her own songs.

You just aren't listening to the right people. Mainstream country sucks but there are tons of lesser known artists that are great and write their own stuff

Ashley McBryde, Lainey Wilson, and Hailey Whitters would have done a much better Dolly Parton tribute.

Wow. Well, she did what she did and we'll see what happens to her career from this point forward. So you're from Nashville and I can only imagine what it must be like to feel its rich history when you walk down the same streets where many music legends were born. Being from Los Angeles myself, the Sunset Strip gives rise to those who skyrocketed to fame and how it feels to connect with this sort of geographical history. And there's a lot of it. Speaking of cringeworthy moments, here's a clip of David Lee Roth at the US Festival back in '83. My friends and I were about 200, 000 people back and the venue had big video screens placed strategically so we could actually see the performers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJTde3dorKhji9k Ouch!

Ive been a fan of elle king for about 6 or 7 years. I first saw her live when she opened for Miranda Lambert. She was wonderful. And she had gone thru her rough patch, was getting better. She was obviously trashed the last few award shows i saw her perform but this blew me away. It was so damn disrespectful to everyone else. I hope shes gets help. I dont know if nashville is the right place for her, or country music in general. Im sure Dolly will forgive her, but the Ryman shouldnt.

Actually this is the most old school country thing I have seen in decades. Country Music has been homogenized since the 90's and it sucks.

I'd have walked out after the first number and would get my money back by disputing the charges on my credit card. Lots of us watch our dreams shatter and get our hearts broken without behaving like that at work. We may fall apart at home, but we keep it together at work because we and our children will go homeless and hungry if we lose our job. If she knew she was going to drink on the day of the show, she could choose from a range of options from trying to find a replacement to canceling the show. She'd have to deal with some annoyed promoters, but that's less damaging than this. She didn't just upset the audience. It's worse than that. Until recently, I only knew her work from Apple Music country playlists. When visiting Nashville in the past, I might have taken my family to a show with her as one of the performers. Not now! I don't want to risk my preteen grandchildren seeing that. There are so many shows and things to do there, and it's just not worth the risk. Some people will let this ride, and I respect their right to do that. Others may make a choice like mine. Time will tell how much damage she has done to her career.

She got her first record deal by being Rob Schneider's daughter. She's an easy sell that way. The reason anyone comes to Nashville is to try and make money. It's the formulation capital of the world!
