She is the best singer I have heard in my lifetime. Her voice is angelic, bordering on spiritual, and she is a gift to humanity. I keep replaying her songs and they mesmerize me each time.

Emma's rendition of Hallelujah is beautiful. She sung this about two years earlier with a male choir and that was also lovely; still on You Tube. She is a true professional who always triumphs notwithstanding her health issues. Her passion is astounding. Congratulations, Emma. May you have a wonderful career!

I agree Emma brings a fresh perspective to this timeless song. It’s brilliant. Emma is unique in my eyes. Not only her wonderful voice and technical ability, or the way she delivers such emotion in her singing. For me it’s also the maturity she shows. Watching various interviews on Dutch tv she demonstrates the same intelligent, calm confidence that we see in her singing which shows she’s totally genuine. To do what she does at 15, she has ice in her veins. For me she’s the best young talent I’ve ever heard, and maybe the best at any age.

To do what she does, and the way she does it, she has ice and fire in her veins, the two are not supposed to be able to mix, but she is very much the exception, and they mix in ways that are truly unique, and I'm so glad that we're the ones who get to enjoy this sublime talent, long may it continue to enthral us.

Sam, your reaction is so heart felt, and so accurate as well, to give you some more pleasure, there's a studio version of Hallelujah, just a piano accompaniment, and she absolutely shines so well in it, the balance was a bit off in this version, so the section of Emma belting like only she can didn't have the power it should have had, the studio version is different, and helps change that. Her voice on it's own is best heard in her stunning opening of 'White Christmas' with Andre, I can't remember Andre letting anyone else come on stage with no guide note or introduction and start away a capella for a whole verse, you could have heard a pin drop during that time, and then he brings in the orchestra, then the sopranos, and then the tenors, before winding it right back down again to let Emma close it out on her own, it's so good, and demonstrates just how good she is, kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIuoqpt9Z8d4m68 it's going to be an amazing year, over 70 concerts worldwide, and I'm sure we'll get to see and hear a lot of new work with her in it. When Andre introduced her at the Vrijthof, he said she has a dream, she wants to be a singer, and in my book, she's already gone way beyond that already as a result of Andre's gentle and beautiful input, her dream came true that first night at the Vrijthof, she recorded it a year earlier, you've reviewed it, LAAT MIJ EEN VLINDER ZIJN , let me be a butterfly , Emma has had more to deal with in her 15 years than most of us have to deal with in a lifetime, and the effect on her has been massive, it's made her the person she is now, the depth and maturity is incredible, and her first song very much reflects the pain and hurt she's had to deal with for all of her 15 years. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYrYaWmvfrJrn5Y You need to see the translation on screen (it's in this video) to understand the deep emotion, it's every bit as emotional as Voila, especially as she sings the section, 2:04 to 2:30, 'if only for a day, or even for a count of ten, I'd just like to live as another', and you will then see a gentle shake of her head, the pain in her eyes, the recognition of the awful daily grinding pain and reality of her situation, and then her head goes down to silence for a moment. Then she rises, physically and in the song she soars to an even greater height, as much as to say, 'This is NOT going to beat me, or define me, I WILL rise above it', an incredibly emotional moment, it was written just for her, an incredibly deep expression of her dream. That first night at the Vrijthof in July, Voila, the video you've reviewed, it's now gone beyond viral, (33 million views and counting still ) Emma changed, mentally, her dream came true that night, it happened for her, in the words of another song she's sung, 'Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this', and while she physically walked out on to that stage, mentally, she was the beautiful butterfly emerging from the long period of painful change, the chrysalis emerged from the cocoon and she soared high and free over the stage. Emma mentally went up with it, and absolutely dominated that stage, the orchestra and the audience, and it's hard to realise that this was the first time she had performed the new version live, in front of an audience of 12,500 people, she was truly inspired, she didn't just perform the song, she LIVED it, she poured her whole heart, soul and emotions into it, she was so powerful yet vulnerable on that stage, the result was she reached into the very depth of so many of the people there, and that was partly why the cameras were going to the audience so much. Andre had worked his showmans magic, they massively changed the song itself, they slowed it down, changed the tempo, added the key change and repeat of the third verse, and that gave Emma the time and space she needed to truly LIVE the song on the stage, and even more important, with things like that beautiful black dress, which made her feel "strong and powerful', Emma was no longer a comptent capable girl singer, the new Emma emerged and soared, she came out on to that stage visibly and emotionally a beautiful, strong, powerful, serene, composed, competent, driven and dedicated young woman, her star rose, and shone bright in the sky. Personally, my opinion, with the horrific trauma Emma has had to live with for so long, she needed that gentle help from Andre to make that difficult transition from the good girl singer trying to find her direction and future into the incredible young woman that she is now, and this last 6 months has proved it, her recent work is a lot more powerful and confident than the work she'd been doing before, and that's not just Voila I'm talking about. That said, and it's a beautiful moment, as she finished Voila, and punched the air in triumph, the smile on her face said it all, she knew she'd nailed it, but just for a moment, the 15 year old girl emerged, she turned to her mentor, Andre and threw her arms wide, and the look on her face said so clearly 'How was that?' Andre's eyes, his embrace, the one word, 'Fantastic', the 1 minute standing ovation from the orchestra and the audience, the call back to take more of the ovation by Andre, all of that served to confirm that her star truly had risen that evening, and she's proved it in recent weeks, she very much is a rising star. She has become a singer, and so much more, she's a singer who's also a very gifted performer, and in truth, she's now soared above even that level, and I'm struggling to find the right word to describe it, with so many of the songs she's performing, she's also living them, exposing her deep vulnerability and expressing the pain of her life, and other deep emotions, and it's made her so incredibly powerful. 12 months touring the world with Andre, every concert sold out and extra concerts added to a number of Venues, she will be a significant part of his tour, and with her skills, and his gentle pressure to excel, it will be a year she will never forget. The only reason that Andre and the orchestra were not shedding tears at the power of that Voila performance was because they'd shed lots of them during rehearsals, and had steeled themselves to control those emotions during the performances, he admitted it freely when interviewed by Dutch TV during July. At the Formula 1 event, when gently pushed about Emma on several occasions, he's said he feels in some respects like a second father to her, and there is a beautiful end of season gathering where he makes a presentation to her, on KZbin, kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5vQfmONntCgp5Y it's not great quality and only in Dutch, but there is an explanation of it in the comments, there is a lot of emotion being shown, including from Andre, and his clear opinion from another TV interview of her is that she has 'exceptional talent', which from someone with his credentials is high praise indeed, he's not only had her performing on his 5 Christmas shows, she's guest starring in his all of his 2024 world tour, over 70 concerts around Europe, the Midde east, South America and then around other parts of Europe, and of course the summer and Christmas concerts in Maastricht. Emma is very different now to how she was at the start of 2023, and she's now able to perform freely in ways that are new, vibrant and absolutely top flight, she has the confidence and the security to know she can do it. If you want an example of how well she can absolutely belt out some of Hallelujah, the Max TV Christmas version wasn't well balanced, her microphone wasn't as strong as it needed, so when she did go powerful, it wasn't as evident as it should have been, there's a more recent slightly different version in the studio for Max TV, Emma with just a piano backing, very powerful, kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5KTYneOq6tojM0 A powerful cover she did of a Miley Cyrus song, recorded at home, for a special event, tube feeding week, a subject very close to her heart, , the climb, kzbin.info/www/bejne/moDLq596etp2eMk A powerful Disney cover. again the theme being about change that's not a normal change, Part of Your World, a Halle Berry cover from The Little Mermaid, again, watch her eyes, and the emotions, so powerful, as is her singing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6XbpGCXg96FgLs I will close with a heartfelt plea to all the readers of this page. Please, if you can, join me in making a (regular) donation to Emma's foundation, gastrostars.nl They are a possible source of treatment or even a cure for people like Emma, it would be a tragedy if Emma had to stop singing because her gastroparesis had become worse, and her foundation may be the way that new treatments or a cure can be found, one of the key members of the team is a surgeon who worked at the Maastricht hospital, she also has gastroparesis herself, and she has been forced to give up her work at the hospital because of a deterioration of her health, so her focus now is the foundation, and with her knowledge, her input will be vital. It would be so good to hear that they have made some breakthrough that will enable Emma to be more able to do what she is so good at, it would mean that her other dream could also become reality, with all she's been through in her short life, it would be so good for her to be free of having to spend 22 hours a day connected to the pumps that are so essential for her survival. For Emma to be able to live free of them would truly be the dream come true.

@@exeter1588 Thanks, as we've both so rightly said, finding new words to describe what we're hearing and seeing is getting very hard, they just don't do justice to her abilities. So happy right now, we've got tickets for the Dublin concert, and (not yet told my wife ) I bit the bullet and got tickets for one of the Christmas concert in Maastricht, when they first came out, they are going to be so good!

@@exeter1588 that's my understanding of the way things are, we know she will be in Dublin in May, we got tickets for that before we knew Andre had taken her under his wing, we've been going to the local concert for a number of years, Covid got well and truly in the way of those plans, I'd hoped to get to Maastricht for the summer concerts in 2021, as that year was both of our 70th birthdays, and our golden wedding, but Covid meant there were no seats worth getting that year, as they were all allocated to the 2020 seat holders due to the cancellation that year, and in the end, there were so many travel restrictions still in place, no way could we go anywhere, The first two 2024 Christmas shows were released before 2023 Christmas, Dec 21, and I got mail notification the day before they came on sale, so I was ready to go as soon as the bookings opened, we're not getting any younger, so waiting too long is not a good idea, we got very good seats as a result, which will be so good, there's a third night already been announced because there's so few tickets left for the first two, and I won't be surprised to see even more being added, they did 5 in 2023, and with how Emma is getting attention, I suspect there may be more in 2024. I am beginning to wonder and to be honest hope Emma will end up touring with Andre for more than just 2024, her skills are so good, it's going to take Andre several years to scratch the surface of all she's capable of, and I also suspect that with how that extended family works, she's going to feel so much at home with them, it will take a lot to persuade her to leave them, though finishing her schooling may be an issues, even with on line available to her. Time will tell, anything could happen between now and then.
