I strongly believe the England selectors have massively let Joe Root down by their rotation policy, he never had his strongest 11 to compete against the best test cricket team in the world. Also players have to take responsibility here, after the 1st innings in the 1st test there was no 50 runs partnership. Everyone seem to be in a rush, for gods sake its a 5 day test match take your time.
@vilobh2829
@vilobh2829 3 жыл бұрын
I think the rotation policy is good. I know they lost this series but if you look at the greater good, they have preserved their players for even bigger tournaments than this series like the world cup and ashes. I know if England had won this series they could have qualified for wtc finals but tbf they had very bleak chances of winning this series.
@nareshrd61
@nareshrd61 3 жыл бұрын
This rotation policy is ill-conceived. You do not rotate players with the intent to give up one big series in favour of some future ones...as if those wins are guaranteed. They have issues with players and their commitments to the national side, and until those are meaningfully addressed, they will always cop out. Stated generously, this was a mediocre team with a terribly depleted bowling team, and an ever worse attitude going by how they played spin. Like you said - there seems to be a rush to move on. Test match cricket is all about playing time.

@@anshumanabhishek5177 Some of the comments I've read from Indian supporters during this series, quite frankly, have been absolutely disgraceful. I understand that India is on a high after first beating Australia in Australia and now winning this series, but being on a high is no excuse for the plethora of insults and put-downs I've been reading. Congratulations to the Indian team, they are playing extremely well and they have some wonderful cricketers in the team. But there are two options for Indian supporters when it comes to how they want to be judged by the rest of the cricket world....do you want to be admired and looked up to, or do you want to be looked down upon for your arrogance and crude, ugly abuse? It's your choice.

@@ray.shoesmith Thing is, India consists of huge amount of people with different backgrounds and cultures. There are people who don't have anything but to these things and take some kind of fun out of it. Lack of awareness in some places is also is a big issue. And as India's population is huge, that small percentage is also huge. So when they do these things it can be seen everywhere, but trust me, that's just tip of the iceberg and there are way more number of people than these guys in India who are real cricket lovers. Cause real cricket lovers don't abuse legends of the game....

@lord cyber I am a football supporter myself, but never have I seen the sheer amount of foul language used for the cricket analysts, old legends etc. just for their opinions. I can see the trolling everywhere in other sports too (although in our case it's way more), but it's the abuse part. Anywhere I go I find the comment section absolutely filled with such comments. Some cricketer is being remembered of his own past failures, some would be abused etc. etc. Donno how r u gonna improve if u have zero tolerance level and how can u be respected for being number one if u behave like this. Now when you r down people from everywhere will troll everytime....

@@anshumanabhishek5177 Sir you must surely have your own valid reasons as to what you are stating/ claiming and I as an Indian I would not try to deny them because i don't have the knowledge as to what foul language that was used but i would like to point out that these incidents have happened in the past in various parts of the world and England also has an history of abusing cricketers and legends of the game. If I point out a few instances they would be, when Steve Smith came out to bat after walking off the field ailing to concussion; the amount of foul language and boo's he received was just disheartening and disrespectful to see. My main point is these things happen everywhere so please as an request don't just point out India for it.

England need to work on their batting especially when it comes to playing spin. The only positive of their rotation policy is that they have a group of players who have the taste of international experience and with 15 more tests to play, they can manage the transition between senior and junior players.

England is one of the few teams to take Test cricket seriously and that's why despite WTC qualification being on the line they have played so many series and matches. I don't think eng is concerned on winning at all costs, it's more to do with building a culture, team for the future and to offer as much cricket as possible to the fans.

The point on making pitches for domestic games spin more is valid. Somerset were deducted 12 points for making a spinning pitch just over a year ago. The funny thing was that Somerset lost the game, and it showed that there seems to be a decision process where on occasions swinging and seaming conditions that are arguably harder to bat on is fair but when it spins or bounces a bit more, the teams preparing the pitches are punished. The other point it highlighted was that "a fair contest between bat and ball" is subjective as if our domestic players can't bat well against spin, any pitch moderately spinning will be deemed unfair to the batsman. Our batsman simply won't learn that way.

As abysmal as England have been the pitch for the second and third tests was farcical and lazy dismissal of the criticism of it only harms test cricket. Your Neanderthal mentality is exactly what is killing the purest format of the game

@@soumyapradhan6107 Yes, regardless of a team’s ability to play spin it’s commonly accepted that a pitch should deteriorate over time so as to offer something for all facets of the game. It’s a shame because this Indian attitude is simply going to lead to a race to the bottom for pitches, with spin becoming even less influential in other countries as we become forced to produce greener wickets that won’t deteriorate and Australia try to producer faster tracks. It’s just another area of the game that Indian impatience and simplicity is going to damage just like with their T20 hysteria. The pitch didn’t need to be so doctored, Axar and Ashwin are just fantastic and their variation was absolutely fantastic to watch, the batsmen looked totally pinned by every ball.

@@cadetkidkilla no idea what you're on. If a batting lineup fails then it's on them! The pitch was good enough for an Indian number 8 to score a century in the second innings! By your rationale, if a batting lineup struggles then it's just because of the pitch? Why did Australia not lose at the gabba for decades?

Very poor showing in the final 3 tests but at least it wasn’t a clean sweep many were predicting, beating India in India is a mammoth task. More spinner friendly pitches needed in England as there is a clear shortage of quality spinners and players of spin.
