The Eurythmics did a weird album that was supposed to be the soundtrack for the movie 1984. I had a copy on cassette. Something changed but some of it made it into the movie but it was wonderful and I wore it out. "Julia", "Sexcrime" and a couple others. They are available on the youtubes. I bought it from the bargain bin for like a dollar, and it was my favorite for years. And yes, she is beautiful and has an unmistakable voice.

"Julia" is so haunting and beautiful. Annie said in an interview a few years ago, when pressed, that the "1984" was their most underrated work.

Eurythmics were one of the bands that made the biggest impact to me in my teens,I bought several of their LPs and listened very often to them in my walkman. They were huge in Sweden, where Im from, but not only there, back in the 80s. Huge. This is one of their good songs from the Album,I think its called Revenge.

Eurythmics and Talking Heads......two great bands that came out of the 80's. And nothing beats Annie's beautiful voice.

Yes, I loved Eurythmics in the 80s through high school. I think the genre is pop with rock and blues elements.

Nona Hendryx on background vocals. A member of Labelle with Patti Labelle and Sarah Dash and a fascinating solo artist as well.

This is one of the very good songs from later in the 80's but their best stuff to me is when they were being a little more experimental 1980 - 1983. You should introduce them to songs such as "Jennifer" "The Walk" "First Cut". As for Missionary Man, really good old Blues, but updated with the instrumentation with some touch of gospel (it goes back to the late 60's liek classic soungs Gimme Shelter by the Stones). I would call it 80's Dance Blues.

No doubt Annie Lennox is a diva; visionary, visual artist. I was blessed to have seen them live in concert 4x from 82-86. Sex Crimes Tour featured all the songs from "Revenge". Annie chose Miss Jocelyn (backup singer) because she wanted that "Aretha Franklin" soul vibe. Have u seen Annie's duet w Aretha? "Sisters Are Doing It for Themselves" would be an xlnt reaction . Cheers

Annie is amazing! I automatically felt the Aretha vibe from the backup singer. I also loved her solo stuff. I will put her duet on the list!

I am so jealous that you got to see them live during the Revenge Tour. They played outside of Boston during that time and Witches of Eastwick was being filmed in the area. The whole cast - Jack Nicholson, Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer and Cher went to the show !

According to the Grammy's, "Missionary Man" is rock , as it won the 1987 Grammy for best performance by a duo or group. Not sure I'd classify it as "rock", but whatever you call it, it was great.

Super eclectic unformulaic genius is how I would describe this.

I would classify it as rock, but with a streak of blues tune in it perhaps? She really comes out in their music and music videos as a super confidant woman that isnt scared at all to take her place in the music world. We cant forget of course, the music creator David Stewart here that also a few times, contributed great vocals in their songs besides writing the music. Can I give a suggestion of another Eurytmics reaction song? Whos that girl, with Eurythmics, great song, great video...

I don't know how I'd classify this song, but it exemplifies the words of B.B. King: "Blues is the roots, everything else is the fruits". And Annie Lennox is a goddess.
